Summer Activies A summer holiday of activities is in store for kids across the district thanks to the East Herts Council Summer Activities Fund 2015 which has given £25,000 to support for summer play. Local schools, sports clubs, youth organisations and school partnerships were invited to submit grant applications for sports and play schemes, activities and trips. These give children and young people the opportunity to stay active, be with their friends and enjoy learning new things over the summer months. Activities include: outdoor games & sports, gardening, dance & drama and podcasting. Activities for a range of ages.

Healthy Cooking for Children August 5th

The activity is to learn to make Pizzas from scratch and then having baked them, to eat them for lunch. Participants will design and construct their own pizza from a range of healthy ingredients provided. They will also be supplied with bread dough to make ‘Flower Pot Breads’ which they can take home. Both able bodied and disabled children are welcome, however we may not be able to accommodate some levels of disability and it may be necessary for carers to accompany their disabled child throughout the event. Junior Tennis Coaching Course July 25 - 29 th

Mini Tennis Sessions for 4-9yrs, including agility, balance, co-ordination skills to improve timing and develop swing patterns. Teaching court boundaries and scoring systems. Game based approach to understanding tennis skills and tactics. Older children will use tennis drills and games to improve stroke development, tactical and technical skills to help improve their knowledge and enjoyment of the game. All sessions are in a safe and secure environment. LTA Licensed Coach, CRB checked. Coach Mark. Rackets are available, bring a drink, wear tennis shoes or trainers plus suncream and a hat if hot and sunny.

East Herts Play Rangers & Youth Games Children and young people from age 6 to 11 and 12 to 18 years, can join in a huge variety of FREE sports activities and games at each site with an Health & Well-Being Olympic theme, and exciting new games such as Pop-Up Tennis & Badminton plus old favourites such as, rounders, dodgeball, cricket, space hoppers, skittles, football, boules, giant outdoor snakes and ladders set, whilst also providing the opportunity to get involved with arts and crafts including drawing, colouring, kite making and jewellery making, and new exciting activities such as foam rocket launchers will be available! Change and Transition Collaging Workshop August 9th

Young carers will be supported to use pictures/images to create an individual collage on their experience of caring and transition. Anstey Playscheme takes place in lovely rural setting in Anstey only 10 minutes from Buntingford. A variety of crafts and physical activities are planned around a weekly theme (e-mail us for details). There is also a large outside area for ball games and physical activities.

Mudlarks Summer Scheme for young people with learning disabilities and Autism July 25th - August 31st

Learn gardening and craft skills and make new friends in a safe and supported environment with friendly staff and volunteers. You will choose what to grow on your own plot of land, and help to tend and harvest vegetables grown for the Mudlarks Café at our Walled Garden. An initial visit is recommended to discuss your individual support needs – please phone Vic Hobson to arrange. Participants should bring a packed lunch – other refreshments will be provided.
