Healthcare Leadership Strategy for a Better Future

Plumbing System Assessment •

Create strategic master planning for flexible, innovative, integrated building systems

Review healthcare system or building’s water management plan

Flush stagnant water out of building system when unoccupied for more than a week

Implement higher amounts of exhaust over supply air to facilitate negative pressure in adjoining spaces

All plumbing fixtures should be installed or changed to automatic/touchless devices so surfaces are not touched and/or contaminated

Restrooms need special attention because of human body’s ability to harbor SARS-CoV-2 »

Increase cleaning frequency

»

Remove air blower-type hand dryers

»

Increase restroom exhaust ◊

Unfortunately, design parameters are not based on removing aerosol particles and instead focus on acceptable odor levels

»

Toilet lid installation ◊

Distribute information on importance of flushing with lid down *

A flyer can be placed on inside of restroom stall for easy visibility

Install toilet lids on any toilet where possible to do so
