I was mad at my legs. I was mad at the devil and anybody who came near me. And I hadn’t slept in days. D It was just after Labor Day 2004, and I was at the height of one of the most intense battles for healing I’ve ever fought. A few days earlier I had ruptured a disc in my back. It felt like a toothache that was 4 1/2 feet long—from my hip to the tips of my toes. D During my life, I have been beaten up, shot, thrown off horses and run over with cars…but never had I hurt as bad as I did at that moment. All I wanted to focus on was the pain and getting free of it. D God met me in it, but in a very different way than I would have imagined.

BU T NEVER HAD I HURT AS B A D A S I D I D AT T H AT M O M E N T. Back Porch Praise

There I was on the back porch facing another sleepless night. One heating pad was wrapped around my calf. Another was wrapped around my thigh. Each was held on by a bathrobe sash. The heat was turned as high as I could get it. But nothing seemed to help—I was still lying there on my back crying. I didn’t feel very grateful. I certainly didn’t look very grateful. Right in the middle of all that pain, though, the Spirit of God dropped it in my heart to begin shouting out my gratitude for all my heavenly Father had done for me. “Oh, Father, I’m so grateful to You! I’m grateful that my other leg doesn’t hurt. I’m so grateful my arms aren’t hurting, my fingers are all working well, and my head doesn’t hurt—it is sleepy, but it doesn’t hurt!” In the midst of all that pain, by an act of obedience I expressed gratitude to God… …by faith! More Praise—Less Pain

Being grateful by faith… Not by feeling. Not by temperament. But by a deliberate act of faith, I did something I’d done many times before. That night on the porch I decided I would no longer talk about the way I felt, my flesh or its condition. Instead of f ocusing on the pain and hur t, I filled my thoughts and mouth with gratitude for my life, my family, for all the years I’ve been in ministry, and for every other good thing that arose in my spirit. I started praising and thanking God and the more I praised Him, the less pain I had in my leg. And as I was expressing my gratitude to Him, God began talking to me. The more He talked, the better I felt. Each day I progressed; not one day was as bad as the day before.

There were a number of things that brought me to the place where complete healing manifest in my body. Thousands of my Partners; many believers from Spirit-filled churches; faith-talking, true healingbelieving doctors; my family and f riends; all added their faith to mine. Nothing, however, had more impact than what began that night on the porch. The moment I began thanking God for all that was going right in my life, I was on my way out of the problem. Redirected Focus

If you’ ll think about it, we only have two real options in times of extreme pressure. Those options are to focus either on the problem…or the gratitude. You cannot do both at the same time. For instance, what happens if you have one sore finger? You may have nine fingers, toes, arms, ears, and numerous other body parts that are working perfectly, but that isn’t your focus. No. All you can think about is how you are going to get that one finger healed. You begin confessing healing scriptures and try to decide what else you need to confess or do, to stop the pain. But if you don’t water those confessions with praise and thanksgiving, your focus on the one sore finger—or whatever problem—will continue to dominate your thinking. If you don’t redirect your focus, the problem can consume you. So start giving God thanks for everything that is working right. Praise Him for all the good things He has done in your life. As you do, you’ll come to a place where you can release your faith and receive your answer. “Yeah, but Brother Copeland, you don’t know what has happened to me.” You’re right, I don’t. But I do know you’re breathing—not pushing up grass! So just start thanking God for your life! Remind yourself that no matter what your circumstances are— it could be a whole lot worse. You’re not dead yet! N O V E M B E R

And this principle applies to far more than just receiving healing. Expressing gratitude by faith will change everything around you. It will change the whole complexion of your life. Shouts Silence the Devil

I’m not saying the challenges will be over when you start filling the atmosphere with shouts of praise and thanksgiving. In fact once you begin praising God with purpose, you’ll become a prime target for the devil. Why? It’ll scare the daylights out of him when you begin operating in gratitude…and he’ll try to stop you. He’ll use the only tactic he possesses. He’ll try to steal that word out of you by stirring up your flesh. Mark 4:16-17 tells us, “ These are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.” The enemy will try to get you to become offended. But that will only work if you have no root—if you’re not grounded in the love of God. However if you are loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37) and expressing your gratefulness for all He has done, you are becoming rooted and grounded in love. That ’s what Paul wrote to the Ephesians. He said: I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God ’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Chr ist, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes f rom God (Ephesians 3:17-19, New Living Translation). Become so filled with His love that offense can’t come near you. Praise Him for His marvelous love.

Praise Him, and as you do the enemy will be stopped cold because praise “stills the avenger” (Psalm 8:2). Fill your mouth and the atmosphere with gratitude—thank God for all He is, for all He has done and is doing in your life. You and the world around you will change! V ICTOR Y

You can

praise your way to victory by praying something like this: Father, I don’t care how bad the finances look, I don’t care what they said about me or what I’m being threatened with. Jesus said You love me as much as You love Him, and the Love in me never fails. I’m grateful, Lord. I remember the times when things were so tough the situation looked impossible, and You moved in and brought me out of it. You set me free so many times. I’m so grateful to You. I worship You and thank You so much. Nothing is going to change that. I am thrilled to have a grateful heart—an abundant heart. I am grateful for the very breath in my lungs. For everything You have bestowed upon me I am grateful. Most of all, I am grateful Jesus went to the cross and paid the price for our deliverance from death, hell and the grave. I am grateful for the blood He shed for my sins, for the privilege of being called by and authorized to use the power of His Name, for the Word, and that heaven is in my future. I thank You that I am alive. I will live and not die and declare the wonderful works of my God! I praise You and thank You, and I serve You with joyfulness and gladness of heart. Hallelujah.

Thanksgiving C

elebrating Thanksgiving as a time to focus on God

and His blessings dates back almost four centuries in America. Although such celebrations occurred as early as 1607 at Cape Henry, Va., our current tradition of Thanksgiving came to us from the

Pilgrims.

Z

Sailing from England on Sept. 6, 1620, the Pilgrims spent two months braving

the harsh elements of a storm-tossed sea. After finally landing and going ashore at Plymouth Rock, they held a prayer service, then began hastily building shelters. But nothing prepared them for the

bitter winter ahead. Before spring half of them had died.

Z

Yet through perseverance in prayer

and the help of neighboring Indians, they reaped a bountiful harvest the following summer. In

December 1621, the grateful Pilgrims declared a three-day feast to thank God and celebrate with

their Native American friends. America’s first Thanksgiving festival began an annual tradition that slowly spread to other New England colonies.

A National Day of Thanksgiving The first national Thanksgiving occurred in 1789. According to the Congressional Record for September 25 of that year, immediately after approving the Bill of Rights: “Mr. Elias Boudinot said he could not think of letting the congressional session end without offering an opportunity to all the citizens of the United States of joining with one voice in returning to Almighty God their sincere thanks for the many blessings He had poured down upon them.” He moved that the following resolution be delivered to President George Washington:

Thanksgiving observances still occurred only at the state level. Much of the credit for the adoption of an annual national Thanksgiving may be attributed to Mrs. Sarah J. Hale, editor of Godey’s Lady’s Book. For 30 years she promoted the idea of a national Thanksgiving Day, contacting president after president with her recommendation. In 1863, Abraham Lincoln responded by setting aside the last Thursday of November, declaring: We often forget the Source from which the blessings of fruitful years and healthful skies come.... No human wisdom hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God.... I therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States...to observe the last Thursday of November as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens.

Resolved, That a joint committee of both Houses be directed to wait upon the President of the United States to request that he would recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer…. Smack in the Middle of God’s Protection I live exactly in the middle of the bombed areas. Left on my side only two streets far is King’s Cross which I use sometimes. And then in the middle just straight four streets along is Russel Square. On my right side, only two streets far, was where the bus exploded. This shocked me as I took the bus there every day to work. But Thursday I had off as the project of the job I worked was finished. At first big fear set in. But thank God about four weeks ago I found a faith-preaching church. Yesterday the pas tor preached us not to fear and taught us very important faith statements against fear for every day. That helped me also. Thank you for your phone message on my mobile. It was a great support. Thank you that you thought of me and prayed as well. B.B. | England

PARTNERS protected DURING

London bombings Delivered From Danger

My office is based in London virtually in between Liverpool Street and Aldgate—one of the bomb blast locations. I usually take the tube from King’s Cross to Liverpool Street and should have been traveling on the tube this morning at or around the time of the attacks. On Tuesday my schedule was most unusually and unexpectedly changed at the last moment which resulted in me traveling to Swindon this morning instead of coming into the office. I therefore passed through Central London about an hour before the incidents. Praise God for my deliverance from danger—I know He looks after His children! When I got home this evening I connected online to the Anaheim Prosperity Convention for my to hear Kenneth praying Isaiah 54:14-17. I know I have nothing to fear in Him. A Faithful, Answering God July 7, 2005, my son and his wife who both work and live in London, were going to work as usual. For some reason he did not get on his normal bus that morning. After finding out about the bomb, he phoned his wife to check on her. He found out she didn’t go to work that morning but went back home as she did not feel well. Later they found out that both buses had been touched and had devices put on them by the bombers. On phoning my son on his mobile to check on them, he was amazed that I got through to him. “It’s a miracle you got in touch with me, as the airways (all communications) have been cut off.” He is a faithful, answering God! He is faithful to His Word and faithful to His children. Praise God. W.H.F. | England

ette my path.”

Change in Plans Changes Outcome I give God the glory. Our God is great. I wanted to visit Liverpool Street to buy some stuff for my aunt in U.S.A., but on that day I met a friend earlier who advised me to go to my hairdresser first before heading toward Liverpool Street. I give God the praise for sending help and taking control of my thinking on that fateful Thursday. If I had not obeyed, I would have been caught in the chaos caused by the bomb blast. I have been praying and remembering KCM articles about dealing with terrorism and how we should fight against fear. Thanks for your support. Jesus is Lord. M.A. | England

He Has Spared Us! During my devotions in the morning, more sirens than usual were racing past the window but I didn’t think much of it until my sister rang to tell me all of the underground trains were stopped and she would have to take the bus to work. As I was praying I felt that I should pray I felt that I should pray Psalm 91 over myself Psalm 91 over myself and my and my family. family. Both places where I do my research are situated in and around the three main bombing sites. The day before the bombings I had purposefully decided in my heart not to go to these places but to stay home and do some research instead. I want to thank the Lord for His protection, His Spirit of peace and His love. So often we focus on the trouble He gets us out of primarily after we have gotten ourselves in it. Rarely do we thank Him and focus on what He has spared us from, the many things that we may never know or be aware of. Perhaps that is in part why we are to stay in continuous thanksgiving and why faith is the only way to please God, for it equals trust, commitment and most importantly—LOVE. Thank you to anyone who continues to lift Londoners up in your prayers. R.A. | England

Experiencing and Expecting Overflow in 2005! We would like to thank you for the DVDs on The Year of Overflow. They have been a real blessing and will continue to be so as we view and review them. Because of your preaching and teaching the uncompromised word of faith our ministry is debt free. Praise the Lord! We are teaching our congregation these truths and are earnestly expecting manifest OVERFLOW in 2005 for our ministry and the entire Body of Christ. We thank you for your continued prayers as we continue to pray for you. W.R. | Florida

Listening Online Is a Lifeline I found Kenneth Copeland Ministries online and I cannot tell you how grateful I am for your online broadcasts. They have supported, taught, encouraged, inspired and fortified me. Just yesterday I discovered the fear against terrorism sermons—I was so thrilled to find that there was someone who shared my attitude about that. So very hopeful for this country and the world. Meanwhile I continue to make my way through the archived sermons. I just wanted to take a minute to write a thanks to the ministry for helping me. Together with Charles Capps and Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland has saved my life, literally. And not only that, I’m glad, greatful, overjoyed to be alive. Kenneth Copeland’s intelligent, scripturally rich sermons have helped to renew my soul and mind. S.P. | Minnesota

THAT HEALING DIDN ’ T P

Logically speaking, the idea of a God who didn’t offer a user’s manual made no sense whatsoever. What kind of God would create the sun, moon, stars and all the bounty of earth, add human beings in the mix and then just expect them to figure it all out and know what He expected of them? The very idea was absurd. So if there was a God, it stood to reason that there would be a Book—a Book which would surely hold the answers to all of man’s most pressing problems. And that day Myron was facing just such a problem. He’d been battling it by himself…but this morning he planned to tell Sue about it and ask her to pray with him, confident she would respond in faith, not fear. That hadn’t always been the case, he realized, running his hand over the worn, warm leather of the old Bible. When he’d first met Sue at a student mixer at Iowa State she had been a very frightened young woman. Myron loved her though and had quickly realized he wanted to marry her. Outwardly their marriage had been a match made in heaven. Myron had gotten a good job as a chemical process engineer. He and Sue had two lovely daughters, Dawne and Heather. They had a nicely furnished home and a warm circle of friends who often envied them. But behind closed doors, paradise had its problems. Sue had been plagued not only with recurrent, debilitating health problems, but with mental illness as well. As she spiraled downward into darkness so deep Myron couldn’t reach her, the situation appeared hopeless. If Myron had been the type of man who reacted to problems with his emotions instead of his mind, the family would have fallen apart. But Myron’s analytical mind wrestled with the problem and saw

belong to him.

one spark of hope: If his wife’s mind was broken, the Creator’s Manual must tell how to fix it. He just needed to know where to find the proper instructions. Asking God to help seemed the logical place to begin. So that’s what Myron did and sure enough, help came. It didn’t come in any spectacular way. God hadn’t supernaturally written the answer on a wall. Nor had He waved a magic wand and made the problem disappear. It had happened on an ordinary day in 1978 when they’d gone back to Iowa to visit his parents. Myron’s mother had handed his wife some tapes she had gotten at a Kenneth Copeland meeting. “Sue, I’d like you to have these,” she had said. Myron and Sue had no idea that those seven words would change their lives. Myron had watched his wife play those tapes again and again. Submerging herself in the truths they contained and in the Word of God, Sue fought for her life. A year later she was healed and in her right mind. Since that time they had lived the Word, spoken the Word and preached the Word. They had turned off the television (except for BVOV broadcasts) and no longer watched movies. They began to study teaching tapes together and the family spent vacations at Believers’ Conventions. They immersed themselves in the Word. So in 1987 when a little growth had appeared on Myron’s back, like everything else in his life, he’d dealt with it in faith and the Word—and it had disappeared. Nine years later, in 1996, it was back. Thus far Myron hadn’t mentioned it to Sue. He had simply prayed in faith and stepped up his confession of healing scriptures. But this time the growth had not disappeared. It had gotten larger. He knew he had to tell his wife.

If there was a God, it stood to reason that there would be a Book. And if there was a Book,

surely it would hold the answers to all of man’s most pressing problems. As promised, Myron took Sue out that morning for a hearty breakfast at a local restaurant. Afterward as they climbed into their truck to head home, Myron winced when his back touched the leather seat. Sue watched him and wondered what was going on. For a single moment he let his head fall against the headrest, and she knew immediately that whatever the problem, it was serious. “Sue,” he said, “you’re going to have to agree with me that my back’s healed.” Drastic Times Call for Drastic Measures

“By the time the enemy hit me with the growth on my back, I already knew that God had promised to heal me,” Myron says. “I knew that 1 Peter 2:24 says that by Jesus’ stripes I was healed. To me that meant that God had known this weakness would appear in my body, and had already dealt with it on the Cross. I knew that the anointing was on the Word of God, so the logical thing to do was to immerse myself in that anointing to receive the full manifestation of my healing. If I had not been fully persuaded in my spirit—not just my mind—I would have turned to medical science as most people would do. “Because Sue and I had learned the power of our words, I knew she would never say anything negative about my situation. I also knew she wouldn’t give me an opportunity to make negative confessions by asking me how I was feeling or by urging me to talk about it. “As far as I was concerned, I was already healed according to the promises of God. But since the growth hadn’t responded at all in the natural, I knew I would have to immerse myself in the Word the way Sue had done years before. Normally I would have taken a leave of absence f rom work and stayed in 14 |

the Word around the clock. Unfortunately I was in the middle of managing an international project and didn’t feel I could take time off. But I was willing to take drastic measures before and after work, knowing Sue would give me her full support to do it.” Myron armed himself with videos f rom several years of Gloria’s Healing School. He pulled out the KCM Healing Praise CD and tapes of healing scriptures. He gathered his Bibles and healing scriptures and moved into the study so his early-morning and late-night vigils wouldn’t disturb Sue. Each morning he set the alarm a couple of hours before work so he could spend that time in praise, worship and the Word of God. He took a tape player and worship music to work and played it in his office. He also took Charles Capps’ book of confessions, God ’s Creative Power for Healing, and confessed the scriptures three times a day at the office. Each evening after work Myron ate dinner with Sue before entrenching himself in the study to watch Healing School videos all evening. Healing Praise and scripture tapes played while he slept. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months as he saturated himself in God’s promises. By June the growth had grown to the size of his fist—and it started to bleed. Too Little Too Late

“By summer Myron wore bandages over the growth to absorb the blood,” Sue recalls. “He also wore a coat to hide it even when it was 90 degrees outside. Each day at noon he came home to change his bloody shirt and dressing. We didn’t discuss it but I knew he was in pain because he was so very quiet. “It was hard to watch him come home wearing a bloody shirt every day. But I wasn’t af raid for him

because I understood that healing was his covenant right. I only got to see him during meals—the rest of the time he was in the study.” Myron and Sue told no one of his battle. By September of that year however, anyone who looked at him knew he was sick. Although the couple walked into their church with smiles on their faces and heads held high, Myron’s color had turned a chalky gray and his cheeks were hollow. “What’s wrong with Myron?” friends asked Sue. “Myron? He’s healed,” Sue replied. “Sue,” someone else said, pulling her aside, “Myron is sick!” “No,” Sue said with a smile, “Myron is healed.” Myron Baago hadn’t refused to see a doctor because he didn’t believe in modern medicine. He hadn’t refused to see a doctor because he thought there was something inherently wrong with that decision. Myron Baago didn’t see a doctor because it was too late. Not too late medically, but too late spiritually.

in the study by himself listening to healing praise all night? Certainly. But he wasn’t tired enough to stop doing it—he knew his body needed more of the Word to be healed. The Word Made Flesh

It was January 1997, when Myron moved into the study and dove into the deep waters of the Word. Now nearly a year later, Sue hummed Christmas carols as she trimmed the Christmas tree. They’d come almost full circle through four seasons. It was no longer odd that Myron wore a coat every day. A north wind blew in icy temperatures. The Christmas season brought its own reminders of the goodness of God and the Joy He’d sent to earth wrapped in swaddling clothes. Myron could almost sense the angels watching over him just as they had watched over the birth of the Savior. And as each day of the joyous season passed, the growth on Myron’s

In 1987 when a little growth had appeared on Myron’s back, like everything else in his life,

he’d dealt with it in faith and the Word—and it had disappeared. He’d already seen God powerfully heal and restore his wife. It was too late for him to believe for a single second that healing didn’t belong to him. In spite of a huge bleeding growth on his back—it was too late. The very idea that God wouldn’t come through for him was illogical. And it was far too late for Myron Baago to start thinking illogically. He’d read the User’s Manual, and it clearly said that the Chief Engineer created the human body to be healed by His Word. When a car battery ran dry, you had to give that battery as many volts as it needed to charge it. Clearly the same was true for his body. It didn’t matter how long it took. It only mattered that when his body was fully charged with the Word of God, the manifestation of his healing would appear. And the only thing that could stop that f rom happening was for him to stop giving his body the charge it needed. Was he tired of getting up at the crack of dawn? Was he tired of spending every single evening of his life watching healing videos? Was he tired of sleeping

back grew smaller, as though it had to bow to His glorious presence. Fifty-one weeks after Myron Baago submerged himself in the Word of God, he emerged f rom his study totally healed and rejoicing for all he was worth! He knew that what Jesus did on the cross was so charged with power that it could and did heal him now. The truth is—it ’s too late for Myron and Sue Baago…too late for them to believe God didn’t provide a User’s Manual. Too late for them to accept second best when Jesus had given His all. More than 2,000 years ago Jesus healed Myron Baago. And it ’s been seven years since his body received enough voltage from the Word of God to have that healing manifest. “The answer to every single problem you face is already written in the Book,” Myron says. “Just read it and do what it says.” When you think about it, that makes perfect, logical sense. FOR MY LIFE !

Every Christian I know has prayed those words at least once. Most of us have prayed them hundreds of times. Without a doubt, that’s a prayer God wants to answer. Yet all too often, believers remain frustrated. Seemingly unable to hear specific instructions from the Lord, they end up wandering around in a spiritual twilight, incapable of clearly seeing the unique path God has

Orders Headquarte planned for them.

The cycle of love begins with God. His love for us is what ignites within us a love for Him and a love for others. Receiving His love is what enables us to obey our general commands.

ers

If you’ve ever wondered why that is, this one fact may shed some light on the matter for you: If we, as believers, are ever going to receive God ’s specif ic instructions for our lives, we must f irst obey the general instructions He has given us. We must hear and obey the first and second commands God has given us in His written Word before we will be able to hear His still, small voice giving us more detailed instructions about our daily lives. That makes perfect sense to me. Years ago when I reported for basic training in the U.S. Army, we first learned our general orders. General orders are the overall military requirements everyone in uniform must obey. Once we understood those orders, we learned about the direct orders which were given to us by our superior officers. Finally we heard about the orders of the day. The orders of the day contained detailed, specific information we needed—what uniform to wear, what time to report where, and what to do when we got there. Obviously all those orders were important. But I figured out real quick that if I didn’t keep those first two sets of orders, I’d never hear the orders of the day. Do you know why I wouldn’t hear them? Because I’d be locked up in a military jail somewhere! If I’d received orders, for example, to serve at a base in Arizona—where it’s 100 degrees at night and an absolute oven in the daytime—the Army would expect me, first and foremost, to show up at that base. I didn’t have the option of saying, “Hey, I think I’ll just go serve at that base in Hawaii instead.” If I had showed up in the islands with a lei around my neck asking for my orders for the day, do you think I would have received them? Certainly not. The Army doesn’t work like that. Neither does the kingdom of God. As soldiers in the army of that kingdom, we’ve been given general orders by the Commander in Chief. Those commands are mandatory and they are vital—so vital that everything else in our lives hinges upon our obedience to them. Matthew 22 is one of the many places in the New Testament we find those general commands. There we read about a young lawyer asking Jesus a crucial question: “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it,

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets” (verses 36-40). No. 1: Receive God’s Love

Love God. Love others. Those are the general orders of the kingdom of God. And direct orders to each member of the Body of Christ. They are easy to remember. Simple to understand. Yet have you ever failed to live by them? And as a result have you been unable to find God’s specific will for your life and

break through to your destiny? If so, you’re not alone! But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are definite things you can do to step up and step into obedience to those two all-important commands. The first is simply to receive God’s love for you. “What?” you may ask, “I thought this was about me loving God…not about God loving me!” It is. But the Bible says, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). In other words the cycle of love begins with God. His love for us is what ignites within us a love for Him and a love for others. Receiving His love is what enables us to obey our general commands. So let me ask you a question. Do you know how much God loves you? Most believers don’t. Yet Jesus told us plainly just before He went to the cross. He prayed to the Father for His first 12 disciples and for all who would believe in Him, and said, “You have sent me, and have loved them as You have loved Me” ( John 17:23, New King James Version). I’ ll always remember the day I first read that. Sitting in our little, shotgun-style house in Tulsa 38 years ago, I’d made a commitment to the Lord that if I saw anything in His Word, I’d believe it, confess it and alter my lifestyle to fit it. But when I read that verse, it staggered my mind. I thought, Dear Lord, did I read that right? Does that say God loves me as much as He loves Jesus? For a moment old religious thinking tried to rise up and stop me from accepting it. There was no question about it, though. The scripture plainly said God loves me as much as He loves Jesus. So I began to say that out loud and as I did, joy came rushing in! If you’ll receive the love of God, the same thing will happen to you. So start right now. Open your mouth and say, “God loves me just as much as He loves Jesus!” Say it like you mean it. Keep saying it and thanking God for it until the truth of it begins to saturate your heart. And when the devil tries to convince you God doesn’t love you that way, tell him to shut up! Don’t give his lies any place in your thinking. Stop them short by praising God right out loud and saying, “Father, thank You for loving me so much. Thank You for giving Your own Son for me that I might not perish. I receive that love now, in Jesus’ Name.”

when I said that? God answered me back. Clear as Here’s the second thing you can do to walk in obedican be, in my spirit I heard Him say, I love you, too. ence to God ’s general commands: Believe that And that made me love Him even more! the love God has for Jesus actually abides and lives in you. Spend extra time loving

God and focus on forgiving people who have been especially hard cases in your life. shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Refuse to get into strife in any area. Don’t allow yourself to become accustomed to being angry. Stop getting mad at your car…computer…and traffic lights. When you let yourself get irritated at the physical things around you, you’re actually practicing being angry. Before you know it, you’ll be shooting off your mouth at somebody and you’ll sound angry, even if you aren’t. Ask me how I know! The Lord really had to jerk the slack out of me about this. I had to deal with it in my own life. So I can tell you firsthand what to do. Every time you catch yourself saying something angry and unloving—whether you’re talking to a thing or to a person—repent out loud. Say, “I judge myself for that in the Name of Jesus. I’m not full of anger, I’m full of the love of God.” It’s amazing what that will do for you. The more you practice being agreeable and kind, the more agreeable and kind you’ll become. The car and the computer may not appreciate it, but the people around you will. They’ll be glad you’re not acting like an angry bad-mouth anymore. No. 4: Don’t Just Sit There. Do Something!

Another way you can practice the love of God is by looking for secret ways to bless people. Give someone a gift and write a little note on it that says, “The Lord told me to give this to you.” But don’t put your name on it. Just stand back and watch and then give the Lord all the praise and glory. Actions like that will charge up your confidence in the love of God dwelling within you. And that indwelling love will spring to life. Faith and love work hand in hand. Faith needs action. It’s not enough to sit around believing the love of God is in you. You have to get up and do something. As James 2:14-17 says: “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye 26 |

give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead.” If your love life is dead, resuscitate it by putting love into motion. Go to your closet, pull out the best you have and give it to somebody who needs it. Better yet, secretly slip them a gift certificate so they can go buy something brand new! Don’t do it to be seen or appreciated. Do it purely out of love. You’ll experience so much joy! You’ll get excited about giving to and loving others. No. 5: Become God-Inside Minded

Finally, seal the deal on your life of love by continually confessing, “Greater is He—who is love—within me than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Cultivate within yourself the conscious awareness that God Himself, your very own heavenly Father, is walking with you and talking with you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. “For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. W herefore come out f rom among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the L ord Almight y ” (2 Corinthians 6:16-18). Become God-inside minded. Say to yourself, “ W hen I walk, God walks. His hands are in my hands. I have the mind of Christ. God is not a million miles away. He’s inside me right now. He’s my Father and I’m His very own son. I’m a joint heir with Jesus and my body is the temple of the Holy Ghost.” When you begin to live in the light of that revelation—when you begin obeying and abiding by God’s general commands of love—you won’t find yourself wandering around in the spiritual twilight trying to find your way. No. You’ll be walking in the light of heaven itself. You’ll be hearing specific orders f rom headquarters at every turn! You’ll be treading on the path of the righteous which is like the light of dawn that grows brighter and brighter every single day! V ICTOR Y

W

E ARE EQUIPPED WITH WHAT IT TAKES TO BE VICTORIOUS IN EVERY SITUATION! | FIRST JOHN 5:4 SAYS, “FOR WHATSOEVER IS BORN OF GOD OVERCOMETH THE WORLD: AND THIS IS THE VICTORY THAT OVERCOMETH THE WORLD, EVEN OUR FAITH.” BY FAITH WE OVERCOME THE WORLD AND FULFILL WHAT I CALL THE “DOMINION MANDATE.” IT’S THE MANDATE GOD GAVE TO ADAM. WE READ ABOUT IT IN GENESIS 1:26: “AND GOD SAID, LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE, AFTER OUR LIKENESS: AND LET THEM HAVE DOMINION OVER THE FISH OF THE SEA, AND OVER THE FOWL OF THE AIR, AND OVER THE CATTLE, AND OVER ALL THE EARTH, AND OVER EVERY CREEPING THING THAT CREEPETH UPON THE EARTH.” I want you to notice that God expected mankind to have dominion over this earth. Having dominion means “to rule, to govern, to subdue or to manage.” God expected Adam and those of us who came after him to exercise stewardship and ownership. We were meant to be in charge here. That was, and is, God’s plan. Before Adam sinned, he had a direct line of communication to God. Once he sinned, however, that connection was broken. Adam went from receiving revelation from God to operating on information—

the things he knew through his five senses. Jesus restored that God-connection to us. After we are born again we become reconnected to God. We learn from God’s Word how to walk by faith and we begin receiving revelation knowledge. We begin seeing through the eye of faith instead of only seeing things in the natural. We are made in the image and likeness of God. That means we are made to: act like God; walk like God— When you’re by faith and not by sight; talk like God; dealing with faith, “calling things that be not as though you are operating they were.” And we’re to see like God, outside of time “looking not at the things that are seen, and in the eternal. but at the things that are not seen.” When you walk by faith, you can have dominion over time.

)

BEFORE ADAM SINNED, HE HAD A DIRECT LINE OF

COMMUNICATION TO I realize you may be thinking, That’s some pretty strong stuff, Pastor Winston. I just don’t know…after all, I’m from Hicksville, U.S.A. Well, I want you to know if you are born again, where you are from now is from God! You were born of God and created in Christ Jesus for good works (Ephesians 2:10). These are works you can do only with God’s ability. We have to operate the way God operates—with His power, His anointing, His faith, His love and by speaking His Word. We are His children, joint heirs with His Son, Jesus, and we have been given that ability. The world desperately needs to see those good works! We are living in a time when the earth is reeling from sickness, disease, famine, natural disasters and pestilence. Jesus said these types of things would be seen in the last days (Matthew 24:6-8). He also said in John 16:33, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” When we operate in faith, we overcome the world. Faith Operates From the Heart | Jesus demonstrated that when He was in the earth. He said to the father of the demon-possessed boy in Mark 9:23, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” How do you believe? With your heart. You don’t believe with your head. The mind only believes what it can see or feel—it feeds off the senses. The head is not designed to see the invisible—the heart is. Your heart, or spirit, feeds off the Word. At times when you speak the Word your head may go “tilt,” because to your head it’s impossible. That happened to Martha at the grave site of Lazarus. She came up to Jesus and basically said, “If you had been here earlier, my brother wouldn’t have died.” Jesus answered her, “Thy brother shall rise again” ( John 11:23). Martha thought Jesus was speaking of the Last Day Resurrection. She couldn’t get her mind around the idea that Jesus was going to raise up Lazarus then and there. Martha was looking at the situation in the natural. Jesus wasn’t. What Jesus really was saying to Martha was what God said to Moses in Exodus, “I AM.” God has no future and no past. He’s outside of time. Faith Overrides Time Delays

|

When dealing with

GOD.

faith, you are operating outside of time and in the eternal. When you walk by faith, you can have dominion over time. The Syrophenician woman who came to Jesus in Mark 7:26 had faith that moved Jesus out of time. Her daughter was sick and she wanted Jesus to heal her. She wasn’t a Jew, so she didn’t have a covenant. Still she persisted with her faith. When Jesus told her He was sent only to the Jews (at that time), and not to the Gentiles, whom the Jews considered the same as dogs, the woman called Jesus “Lord” and said that even the dogs get the crumbs that fall under the table. Seeing her great faith, Jesus stepped out of time and healed her daughter. He gave her the same blessing we have as Gentiles after the Cross. He responded to her faith as if she were under the New Covenant. When you really have faith in God and His Word, all things become possible! God has a heavenly reservoir, or treasury, for us. Peter described it this way, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). God has given us all things—nothing is left out. It’s important for us to be fully persuaded about that truth. We are living in times that are “hard to deal with and hard to bear” (2 Timothy 3:1, The Amplif ied Bible). It’s only going to get worse in the world’s system. But you and I are in the kingdom of God—we’re on the kingdom system. We are to manifest God’s will in this earth no matter what Satan has done or will do. We’re here to manifest the kingdom and draw people in to be saved! It’s up to us to demonstrate the power and the glory of God. Our job is to take back everything Satan has stolen. Our job is to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Our job is to fulfill the Dominion Mandate! V ICTOR Y

These objectives are understood by every

project manager regardless of the project that’s been assigned. | David Styles, KCM Canada director and manager of the building project for the new KCM Canada ministry center, was recently able to report these goals were met! He says, “We moved into the new ministry building on July 15, 2005—it was completed debt free! The facility is everything we dreamed it would be! The Lord is the best project manager any team could have.” Throughout the building process, the Canadian ministry team stood on Psalm 127:1: “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.” And build it, He did! Supernatural favor was evident on every f ront— f rom breaking ground to moving in! The contractors met project milestones they felt sure would be delayed. Suppliers gave deals and discounts some would call unreasonable. Though the team expected it to be their biggest hurdle, even the typically challenging Canadian weather gave this project a break. The Lord paved the way for every inch of this beautiful 15,640-square-foot facility to be finished on time in excellence! KCM Partners around the world played a part, with Canadian Partners and Friends leading the way by faithfully praying for, and diligently planting seed toward its completion. Director Styles says, “We thank the Lord for building this house. And we thank you, Partners and Friends! We are looking forward to serving you in new levels of excellence from this great new ministry center.” New Levels of Ministry

will celebrate its 30th birthday—30 years of service to Partners and Friends! And that’s just one of many things the staff is excited about. Of course they are excited about being better able to meet the needs of more than 17,500 Canadian Partners and Friends from this new facility…they are also excited about plans for outreach…and perhaps most of all, they are excited about building stronger relationships with Partners and Friends! In order to connect with Partners in a more significant way, the KCM Canadian ministry staff will be traveling across Canada in the coming months to host special receptions. Anticipation is building as plans are being established to meet and greet Partners. So be watching for information about these informal gatherings where relationships will be strengthened as the love of God is shared. To better connect with Canadian Partners and Friends, the KCM Canada Web site has been enhanced. Be sure to visit www.kcmcanada.ca and explore the site. Rejoicing! | In the midst of all the new things the Lord is doing in the KCM Canada office, we still continue to rejoice with each testimony we receive and praise Him for all He’s accomplishing each day in the lives of our Partners and Friends. The daily ministry continues to grow as we fulfill our commitment to respond as quickly as possible to all requests. Incoming and outgoing telephone calls and mail are high ministry priorities. Receiving testimonies helps us know we are meeting our goal of ministering to our Partners and Friends. For instance we heard from a Partner in Edmonton, Alberta, who said:

Your off ice called us and left the most wonderful prayer of encouragement on our answering machine. It so blessed us and f illed our hearts with love and joy! Thank you! Thank you! As another means of ministry, 195,000 Believer’s Voice of Victory magazines and more than 90,000 products will be shipped this year from the KCM Canada office. Robert Wilson of Canada tells us about the affect of one book in his family: On Thursday night, October 14, 2004, my 17-year-old son told me that he prayed the prayer of salvation written in the back of the book The Laws of Prosperity. He told me he read it out loud and meant it and believed it in his heart and he is now a born-again child of God. Glory to God. Robert Wilson | Canada

other ministries which makes your seed “twice-sown seed.” Many of these churches and ministries report they are seeing increase and overflow too! Across the nation, ministry is on the rise—First Nations people, prisoners, teens in crisis, street people, mature believers, and those who need salvation. For instance, we have received this report from The Loft Ministries: I want to thank you for your decision to plant your seed into The Loft Ministries. We are in agreement that every seed you sow will produce a mighty harvest for Kenneth Copeland Ministries Canada. Our Children’s Horse Camp is entering its fourth year. It is an awesome venue for children to experience the power of God. To date all those who have attended our camp have made decisions for Christ. Praise the Lord!

HAPPY

the

marriage

FORMULA

H

Husbands and wives, I want you to know that

walking in love with one another is the bottom line to a good marriage.

S

The old say-

ing, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander” applies in marriage. To have a happy home, you both must develop a habit of walking in the love of God. It is what will cause your marriage to be blessed. It is what will cause you to have a good life—a life worth living.

S

God desires for your life and marriage to be like days of heaven on earth. And that is possible…when you do things God’s way and obey His commands.

S

I know it’s possible

because Ken and I have been married more than 43 years, and we have never been happier! The longer we live together, the better it gets because we have come into agreement about the way we live our lives. We see things the same way now—almost everything! BY

LOVE (GOD’S LOVE IN US) DOES NOT INSIST ON ITS OWN RIGHTS OR ITS OWN WAY, FOR IT IS NOT SELF-SEEKING; IT IS NOT TOUCHY OR FRETFUL OR RESENTFUL; IT TAKES NO ACCOUNT OF THE EVIL DONE TO IT [IT PAYS

NO ATTENTION TO A SUFFERED WRONG]. LOVE BEARS UP UNDER ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT COMES, IS EVER READY TO BELIEVE THE BEST OF EVERY PERSON….

LOVE never FAILS ...” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5, 7-8, The Amplif ied Bible).

The result is truly days of heaven on earth. Ken and I desire for you to have that too. We desire for you to have a happy, blessed home and family. We want to encourage you to know that it is possible when you apply the principles found in the Bible. In the Word of God, there is what I consider to be a happy marriage formula. It’s found in 1 Corinthians 13. This passage of scripture teaches us many things about walking in love. Verses 1-2 reveal the importance of love. It says: “If I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love…I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers…and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God’s love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody)” (The Amplif ied Bible). If we do not have love, we cannot be spiritual adults. We may have the gifts of the spirit operating in our lives, but if we don’t have love and we aren’t walking in love with others—we are useless nobodies! Nothing we do counts! That’s how important love is. So we must understand how to walk in love. To begin with, we must recognize that the love of God is unselfish. Have you ever noticed that selfish people are never happy? And here’s why: They are always thinking about themselves instead of others. They are always striving to get their needs met and get what they want. The Bible tells us it is in giving that we receive (Luke 6:38). Unselfish people walk in love and are always looking for ways to bless others (including their spouses). They are sowing love and they will reap love. These people will live in happiness, joy and peace. First Corinthians 13:5 says love “does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking” (The Amplif ied Bible).

Demanding our own way is not how we walk in love. One important key to having a happy marriage is being unselfish—it will make all the difference!

Be Adaptable! | Another key to developing a great

marriage is learning to be adaptable. Ephesians 5:21-22 in The Amplif ied Bible says, “Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ…. Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.” Ken and I were very different when we were first married, and we had to learn how to be subject to one another. In other words, we both had to do whatever it took to have a happy marriage! We had to adapt. I’m sure we are not alone in this. A person often marries someone who has a personality very different from his own. I think I know why that was true in our lives—I needed Ken and he needed me. He was more capable in a lot of things, and I was more capable in other ways. We were two totally different human beings who didn’t think alike or act alike. We had to adapt to one another and learn to value our differences. Interestingly, over the years, we have grown more alike! I dare say that if I couldn’t have adapted, Ken and I would not be together now. The ability and willingness to adapt is one thing it takes to stay together. It seems to me that many younger wives today have not learned the importance of this. The Scripture plainly says wives are to “adapt” to their husbands. But nowadays people have a selfish mindset. Being submissive and adapting is not something women of this generation have been taught. Nonetheless, the Bible says we are to “Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)” (Ephesians 5:21, The Amplified Bible). This is not just a verse for wives! We are to learn to yield to one another in the love of God. N O V E M B E R

Now I’m not advocating that a wife should submit to a husband who beats her and abuses the children, or anything of that nature. I’m talking about submitting as a give-and-take attitude in everyday life. This is not something that’s learned overnight. I didn’t learn to be adaptable the first week I was married, but rather I learned it over the years. Make it a point to be adaptable. Be willing to submit to one another. It’s part of your love walk. It’s part of a happy marriage.

Practice the Love of God |

In marriage you have to practice walking in the love of God. It doesn’t come naturally, but supernaturally as you obey the Holy Spirit and the written Word. First Corinthians 13 is our guidepost for love. And verse 5 is perhaps the greatest marriage scripture I have ever found about how to walk in love. It says love is “not touchy or fretful or resentful…[it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]” (The Amplified Bible). This verse helped me so much when I was just

is not touchy, fretful or resentful. Love forgives. If you desire to have a happy marriage, you must forgive one another. Someone once said that refusing to forgive someone and expecting things to go well with you is like drinking poison and thinking the other person is going to die. It just doesn’t work that way. Unforgiveness doesn’t hurt the other person—it hurts you. When you forgive, however, you are set free. Forgiving is a very significant part of love. We can be habitual forgivers because God has forgiven us so much. First Corinthians 13:13 in The Amplif ied Bible defines love as “true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us.” As we love God, we are able to love the people around us, even when it isn’t easy. It may be hard to believe, but in the early years of our marriage Ken would occasionally do something I didn’t like. I was learning to walk in love, so instead of getting outwardly angry, I just wouldn’t respond even though I was really aggravated! I didn’t forgive. By not

touchy, fretful or resentful , out of the will of God. It is as simple as that.

If you find yourself being know that you’re

learning to walk in love! Today it is ingrained in my spirit. It’s not even hard to do anymore—it’s a way of life. When I first read this scripture years ago and it became a revelation to me, I wrote this verse on little cards and put them up where I could see them. When I would want to get mad, I would say, “I walk in love. I’m not touchy, fretful or resentful.” I did that over and over until I learned not to respond in anger. I did whatever it took to get these words working in my life! Today they still help me stay on track. If I begin to get mad and yield to temper, I think about this scripture. I think it’s advisable to keep 1 Corinthians 13 before you all the time—I do! My life is changed as a result. Remember, you have to practice the love of God. Some people practice anger. They are mad at everyone and everything around them. Being angry has become a habit in their lives. As born-again children of God, our habit should be to yield to the nature of the Spirit of God in us. His nature is love—we must decide to yield to that!

responding I was just covering up my disobedience to the Word. But I knew the truth and so did the Lord. You see, walking in love is not a matter of just holding your tongue. It means not being touchy, fretful or resentful. It means paying no attention to a suffered wrong. Love is a matter of what is in your heart. I learned that. I discovered when I didn’t respond in love I became my own worst enemy. No one comes out on top by staying in strife. In marriage, it’s vital for a husband and wife to walk in love and have respect for the other’s opinions. Today Ken and I are living proof it can be done. However, we would not be where we are in our marriage if both of us had not been determined to obey the Word where love is concerned. Walking in love is our law. That is our command. We know we cannot please God unless we love everybody—including each other. So if you find yourself being touchy, fretful or resentful, know that you’re out of the will of God. It is as simple as that. Choose to forgive and walk in love and have a happy marriage!

Beyond Religion—

Take the Word Literally—Do It! |

To improve your marriage—your life—you must take the Word of God literally and actually do what it says. Ken and I were Spirit-filled Christians for quite a while before we discovered this truth. Of course we had been changed on the inside the moment we were born again. But we didn’t immediately experience a significant change in our lives outwardly. We were still selfish, miserable and defeated. It wasn’t until we began to take the Word literally and apply it that our lives dramatically changed. We have learned to put 1 Corinthians 13 in our hearts, speak it out our mouths and expect ourselves to come up to that standard. Do we always do everything it says? No. But the more we yield to it, the more we progress. Over the years, we have gotten better and better at walking in love. When we get out of love, we repent quickly. We refuse to allow unforgiveness and strife in our lives. We refuse to open that door to the enemy. Walking in the love of God locks out the enemy, who has come to steal, kill and destroy. Love opens the door to the Lord Jesus Christ, who has come that you “may have and enjoy life” ( John 10:10, The Amplif ied Bible). If you want to live a good and happy life and you want the blessings of God to flow in your life, then go after and eagerly pursue the love of God. First Corinthians 14:1 says, “Eagerly pursue and seek to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest]…” (The Amplif ied Bible). Eagerly pursuing love is a path I recommend for everyone. According to 1 Corinthians 13:5-7, love “takes no account of the evil done to it…. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes….” That means nothing is going to come across your path that love won’t conquer. Think about that. When you walk in the Word of God and keep the commandment of love, every door to good is open— and every door to evil is closed! The devil won’t have any place to work in your life. Obey the Word and things will go well with you. If you do what the Lord says, you will have a good, long life. Love is so powerful. The Bible says, “Love never fails.” If you’ll walk in love, you won’t fail either. When you follow God’s ways, you’re on the way to the best life possible! Everything—including having a happy marriage and a happy home—depends on walking in love. V ICTOR Y
