"Taco About It" Teen Social Event
Teen Dating Awareness Wave held last Feb. 01
Activities held for Teen Dating Awareness & Prevention Submitted and Photos by Andersen Family Advocacy Program Andersen FAP together with USO Andersen hosted a teen social event called "Taco Bout It" for youth ages 14-18yrs. They had activities that focused on building healthy relationships with friends, families, and peers. They held open discussions outlining the differences that make relationships healthy or unhealthy. There were also talks about how to have open and respectful
ANDERSEN MIDDLE SCHOOL HELD SCHOOL LEVEL SPELLING BEE Submitted by Mr. Jim Rhodes, Andersen Middle School Spelling Bee Advisor On Jan. 31, Andersen Middle School held this year’s school level Spelling Bee. Four contestants took up the challenge to see who was the best Dragon speller. The contestants were Reynalynn Tongohan, Xandrell Tabual, Chloe White, & Sarah Denzer. After 12 rounds of spelling, Sarah Denzer, 8th grade, came out on top and will represent AMS at the Guam Area Scripps National Spelling Bee competition in March. Chloe White was the runner-up.

In collaboration with Guam High School , a Teen Dating Awareness Wave was held on Feb.01 to provide awareness to students through signs, banners, and posters.
ANDERSEN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS LEARN FROM A HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR Submitted by Dr. Tyais Dial, School Principal Andersen Middle School Recently, DoDEA students across the Pacific area had the opportunity to hear from Holocaust survivor, Ms. Dita Kraus. The 92 year-old Ms. Kraus story of survival in Auschwitz concentration camp was the inspiration for the novel The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe. Ms Kraus spoke to students at Andersen Middle School and across DoDEA Pacific from her home in Israel. She spoke of the inhuman treatment she and other Jewish peoples suffered at the hands of the Nazis during World War II. 7
