Collage Project This project is based on the work All Saints Day II by the expressionist painter Wassily Kandinsky. The shapes were rendered from areas in his painting that displayed heavy use of color and texture, and then were repeated with variations in size. The work as a whole displays obvious use of repitition that provides strong emphasis on the foreground while still exhibiting character and flow in the background; these qualities create a visually dynamic piece that can have many interpretations and meanings.

ADVERTISEMENT This work was a collaborative effort between myself and Stevie Schenk, another graphic design student. The image on the left is based on a work by Wassily Kandinsky, reorganized by Stevie. The images of bagels and the right page were rendered by myself to transform image into an advertisement. The functionality of this work as an advertisement for Einstein Bros. Bagels communicates the return of holiday themed menu items. As a design, it speaks to he audience through a channel of humor and complex imagery to draw the viewers’ attention and interest.

Labeling Project The brand Lawry’s is a subsidiary of McCormick, one of the largest spice and recipe corporations, so for my project I designed the label to reflet a brand that has an organic, quality product. The artful composition and earthy colors relay natural production and old America goodness. The redesigned Lawry’s label is a much needed update to the old label; I think my new label provides a dynamic modern feel to an aged style logo. The organic feel of the new label demonstrates a wholesome quality that is often lost in the modern market-place.
Lawry’s offers a robust blend of coarse-ground pepper and garlic that simply can’t be beat. We have created spices that make your favorite dish or recipe unforgettable. Use it to season meat, fish, or vegetables. Works great when grilling or at the dinner table for that extra flavor. The high quality spices you have come to expect for Lawry’s are just a shake away.

Zoo York T-Shirt Design The design is based on the typographic patterns of the letter E, Y, and M. The patterns reflect the style of Middle Eastern textiles, screens and flooring but with a modern twist. These shirts are a counterculture stance to the norm of the oppressive, turbulent countries in which they will be sold. The scenario of Zoo York opening new stores in Middle Eastern countries gives the opportunity to, not only sell a product but, make a statement. The designs are individually complex and symbolic of the classic culture around them, however these shirts are an intentional departure to accommodate a struggling generation.

Vector Portrait This work is based on the portrait of my dear friend Alex Marrow. In the photo she is presented with sunlight in the background and her face as the only focused foreground. I used colors that were used originally by Shepard Fairey. The intent for the vector was to realisticly depict her face with the exception of color, which would be artificial. The process to create this image was difficult but especially helpful to learning later exercises and used many different properties that are instrumental to the method of any designer.
