EDITOR’S LETTER
Love is in the Air Our summer issue is always one of my favorite issues. I am without a doubt, a hopeless romantic. I love weddings and the idea of standing up in front of all whom are important to you and professing your love for another. Breathtaking. But I wanted to put a different spin on this issue. I wanted lovers who take the plunge to feel comfortable “bucking tradition.” It’s your day, do it your way. There really
are not any rules. I believe that you can wear a bright red wedding dress or turqouise shoes or dress your bridesmaids in black. Do whatever. We showcased several evening gowns by bridal designer Tony Hamawy. Tony has a collection of drop dead gorgeous wedding gowns. But he also has some equally beautiful evening gowns that would be stunning options for the unconventional bride. Afro Barb & Ken are out to change the way people see African clothing. Designer Monique Jobi mixes African prints and trimmings with modern silhouettes. It’s the way that stylish men and women will want to dress when they head our for a special occasion.
Today, the Supreme Court of the United States struck down the “Defense of Marriage Act.” The universe has restored order. No one person in this world has a right to define love and marriage for any other person. Hooray for justice and equality. We have won the battle. Let’s keep fighting to win the war and let love rule! As always, if you know an amazing designer, artist, musician, restaurant, movie, book, or would like to send a letter to the editor, just email me at: editor@faconmagazine.com. We are totally on social media. Follow us on Twitter, @faconmagazine, Instagram, @facon_magazine, Facebook, facebook.com/faconmagazine and Pinterest: pinterest.com/faconmagazine/. Connect with us. CONTRIBUTORS KAREN NUTINI (ksn10@aol.com) Photographer By day, Karen Nutini is a photographer for the Federal Government. But by nightfall, she freelances as an editorial/lifestyle photographer. After a chance opportunity to shoot with Wihelmina Models, Nutini realized that she needed an outlet for her creative side. Her passion and for fashion and photography is evident in her images. She works tirelessly to get the right image at the right moment. Karen worked with Bella of Models, Inc., on an overcast day to shoot Tony Hamawy’s gorgeous gowns in “Buck Tradition.”
SIG SAUER (flashbangphotz@gmail.com) Photographer Sig is a recent transplant to Baltimore with an eye for light. His passion for photography is rooted in Light Painting; his ability to use everyday lights to create dynamic images filled with depth and emotion have sparked a buzz about Flash Bang Photography within the local Baltimore area. Aside from Light Painting, he has an interest in fashion photography where his uncanny eye for light and color have enabled him to capture and truly bring out the essence of what fashion is all about. As a self-titled "Community Photographer," Sig teaches new photographers about their DSLR's, post-processing workflow and even building websites, all on his own time just to give something back to a city that has given so much to his lens. You can see more of Sig's work at www.FlashBangPhotography.net, or on Instagram @flashbangphotoz. Sig worked with several models from Models, Inc. on Bussman Bridge in “Going to the Chapel.”

BEAUTY REPORT

Perfect Skin with AJ Crimson No matter what traditions one chooses to follow or what make up one chooses to wear, one thing that will never lose it's style is perfect skin. A bride’s skin should never look too heavy or too matte. It should be very soft and slightly dewy to have the perfect glow. Though you want your skin to look perfect, you still need your natural beauty to shine through. AJ Crimson Crème Foundations and BB Creams give you perfect bridal skin. AJ Crimson products are used to enhance one's beauty, not to hide it. AJ has been a celebrity makeup artist for years but he felt like something was missing in the world of makeup so he created Crème foundations and BB Creams. AJ Crimson Cream Foundations are perfect for the bride who has some slight imperfections and needs a little extra coverage without a heavy finish. What I love about the cream foundations is that they come in all shades, from extra light to very deep, there is a shade for everyone. The creams can also double as your concealer, so you can cover, highlight and contour with the same product. The Crème can also be packed on a little heavy to cover any scarring or tattoos anywhere on the body. Beauty Balms are essential for every woman, especially in this weather. BB Creams can be used as your primer or coverage or both! Because BB creams are fairly new to the makeup industry it’s hard to find them in deeper shades, until now! AJ has seven shades to choose from. What I love about BB creams are the fact they give you everything a foundation would but without being too heavy and allows your skin to breath. BB creams can be applied with a brush to give fuller coverage or with your hands for a lighter finish. You can purchase AJ’s makeup online at www.AJcrimson.com. Also check your local cities to see if there is a makeup expo coming up featuring Mr. Crimson to buy your makeup on the spot.

BEAUTY ADVICE
Wedding Day Do’s & Don’ts Last Minute Tips for a Fabulous Wedding Day
Do 1. USE WATERPRO OF M ASCAR A
Even if you’re not a crier, today just may be the day! You don’t want to streaks of black after saying “I do.”
2. OPT FOR COLOR
Use some kind of color on your lips. Not having any color on your lips is a big mistake. You don’t want to look washed out. Pinks are always safe and in vogue for ever y season.
3. SETUP A M AKEUP TRIAL
Have a trial run with a makeup artist and hairstylist months before the big day. Your wedding is a ver y special day and you don’t want to walk up to makeup counter or into a salon and have someone tr y to create your look with time constraints.
4. HAVE TOUCH-UP PRODUCTS HANDY
No matter how amazing your artist and stylist are, there will be a need for touch-ups to hair and makeup. If you chose not to have your artist and stylist stay all day, make sure that they leave you with essentials like lipstick , powder and hairspray.
5. INDULGE A LIT TLE
Have a glass of wine. It calms the soul.
Don't 1. TRY SOMETHING NEW
Never tr y new skin care, peels or mask the day of or before your wedding day. You never know how your skin may react to products. So stay away from any unfamiliar products that may cause irritation to the skin.
2. BE AFR AID TO WEAR M AKEUP
Think about your pictures! I know that most women who get married are not that interested in makeup but when you look back and see how amazing you look in your pictures you will be thankful and grateful.
3. FORGET TO TAKE PICTURES
Anytime that you go in for a trial/consultation, always take pictures. Pictures will help your artist recreate the look and help you to see what you will look like in your wedding pictures.
4. DEHYDR ATE YOUR SELF
Please drink lots and lots of water. Even if you have the best makeup artist, dehydration is hard to cover. You want your skin to look radiant all over.
5. STRESS
Stress causes bumps and blemishes and we don’t want that on the big day, now do we?

GROOMING The Grooming Lounge (thegroominglounge.com) It’s not all about the bride. Every groom deserves some pampering, too! The Grooming Lounge is a great place for the groom to have his "get handsome" grooming needs met. There really isn't anywhere else like it for men. From skin care, hair care, and shaving, The Grooming Lounge is a perfect one stop shop for the man that is about to give his heart away for life. There are a few locations in the DC metropolitan area which include barbershops, male spas, and grooming lounges. Because a visit to a unisex spa can still look more like a place for women, The Grooming Lounge is very masculine with rich hues and tones all around. One of Grooming Lounge's key missions is to help make men "even more handsome." It offers haircuts, hot lather shaves, manicures, and skincare but in a much setting that will make a groom feel comfortable and relaxed. Founded in 1999 by a group of men who had experience in the men’s grooming and fashion industry “The Grooming Lounge” opened its first store in March of 2009. You are able to book online, call, or walk-in for your grooming services.
