Lion of Judah Monument
Omo Valley
The Lion of Judah Monument is one of the noteworthy tourist attractions in Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia. he Lion of Judah Monument in Addis Ababa has a long historical background. The Lion of Judah Monument of Addis Ababa. The statue was a symbol of ancient monarchy in the Ethiopian capital city and was exhibited as war booty in Rome. However, the decision was changed and the statue stands with grandeur and elegance in the square as a symbol of sacrifice and patriotism. This infuriated the young man and he at once drew his sword and slaughtered the first Italian soldier that came on his way. After that he killed many more Italian soldiers.
Omo Valley is undoubtedly one of the most unique places on earth because of the wide variety of people and animals that inhabit it. The region is known for its culture and diversity. The tribes that live in the lower Omo Valley are believed to be among the most fascinating on the continent of Africa and around the world. It is often you come into contact with the following tribes: Arbore, Ari, Bena, Bodi, Bumi, Daasanech (Geleb), Dorze, Hamer (Hamar), Kara (or Karo), Konso, Kwegu (or Muguji), Mursi, Tsemay, and Turkana when you tour the valley. Among the ancient African tribes that live in the southern part of Ethiopia, there is a wide variety of wildlife as well as nature.
Lake Tana called Tsana is the largest lake in Ethiopia, situated in Amhara Region, north of the beautiful town of Bahir Dar. Lake Tana is unique as the home of thirty seven scattered islands, twenty of which are home to monasteries. Remains of ancient Ethiopian emperors and treasures of the Ethiopian Church are kept in the isolated island monasteries. The monasteries are earlier religious sites and include the fourteenth century Debre Maryam, the eighteenth century Narga Selassie. Tana Qirqos island have been a spiritual retreat long before Christianity was established in Ethiopia, Tana Qirqos once housed the Ark of the Covenant for 800 years, before it was moved to Axum. All of the islands churches are the main tourist attractions, the churches are decorated with beautiful sacral paintings.
Gondar is a place of song. The town's many churches broadcast prayers and hymns over loudspeakers from the early morning until late at night. They are especially audible at the palace complex, where Fasilidas built his castle and his successors vied with each other to make their own mark on history. There are a total of six castles by six different kings, built during Gondar's 280 year run as the empire's capital. Two related sights nearby should not be missed. One is the "Bath" of Fasilidas, actually a giant baptismal font for his famous mass reconversion. The combination of rough mountains and good farmland made it an obvious place for a capital city, and for many years it was. Gondar is nestled in a mountain-ringed valley at 2133 meters (6,998 ft.) altitude and is free from the malaria that plagues the Lake Tana region. It appeared so attractive that the Emperor Fasilidas moved from Lake Tana and made Gondar his capital in 1635. He built the impressive castle pictured to the right and gathered his court and supporters around him.
