On the following pages you will find exciting information about the new learning platform and its potential for shaping ‘next generation learning’ in your school. Also, following a lot of hard work by colleagues in schools and across Children’s Services, we have brokered a series of partnership agreements with content suppliers. With learn.nottingham you will be able to access a range of impressive discounts which represent excellent value for money for schools. As a member of the learn.nottingham user community you will be able to contribute to ongoing design developments and share ideas and content. The current contract is scheduled to run for five years, and we are aiming to engage the vast majority of schools, their teachers, co-workers and pupils. At the back of the brochure you will find a list of contacts and an order form. learn.nottingham is a secure on-line service, based on Microsoft SharePoint, that enables registered users to access a wide range of tools for communication, management, learning and teaching. The service can be customised to suit the needs of individual schools, and the LA can support you in this. From our previous experience we know that schools can very quickly build on initial developments to have very real impact on the quality of learning and teaching.

Your subscription to learn.nottingham includes free access to SUMS activities. These popular ‘flash’ based activities are appropriate for primary and secondary students. During the year content will be updated as new activities become available.

SUMS activities are designed to drop easily into the structure of existing lessons and lectures, adding interest and challenge. Because each activity has a tight focus on a learning point, they are ideal for introducing topics on an interactive whiteboard, and for extension material on individual computers or in a computer suite. All activities have two difficulty levels to support differentiation. Learn.nottingham. SUMS Maths will transform how your teachers deliver lessons. Each activity can be put onto the Learning Platform separately, very like clipart. That means that each teacher can add their own lesson ideas, starters and activities around a SUMS game.
