JT Fon Wi-Fi

Your key to unlocking over 20 million FREE Wi-Fi hotspots worldwide

What is Fon? Fon is a community network based on a simple idea: if you share a bit of your home Wi-Fi you can connect for free to other Wi-Fi networks who do the same, effectively taking your home broadband service with you when you go out and abroad. By everyone sharing, everyone benefits. There are now over 21 million Fon hotspots all over the world, including 4 million in France and over 500,000 in London. The goal is to cover the world with Wi-Fi so that everyone will be able to find ‘Fon Spots’ wherever they go – walking down the street, having a coffee or browsing around a shop.

How JT Fon Wi-Fi works As a JT Fibre customer you will automatically benefit and join the Fon community, offering worldwide access to Wi-Fi hotspots when you’re out and about, in the UK, and in over 200 countries worldwide. Your JT Hub router will ensure that your home fibre broadband always has priority over the JT Fon Wi-Fi service, so sharing doesn’t impact on performance or incur any extra costs. The Fon technology automatically creates a second separate signal on your JT Hub, that is then used for sharing and is suitable for light internet browsing or checking emails. Due to the separate Wi-Fi signal, there are no security implications or the possibility of someone being able to use the service to ‘hack’ into your home broadband network.

Benefits of Fon FREE unlimited Wi-Fi access to over 21 million hotspots worldwide. As a JT Fibre broadband customer you are part of a worldwide community network, allowing you to connect for FREE to Fon Wi-Fi Hotspots either in Jersey or abroad. Your home broadband service always takes priority over the Fon service so your home fibre broadband speed and monthly broadband usage bundle will be unaffected by Fon. JT Fon Wi-Fi also uses a separate and secure Wi-Fi channel.
