Faroese Telecom is the incumbent operator on the Faroe Islands. Faroese Telecom provides services within mobile, fixed line, DSL and TV. The market share ranges from 70-80%, depending on the business area.

The subsidiary Shefa owns and operates two international subsea connections firstly providing broadband services to the Faroe Islands. Furthermore, these connections provide high-speed broadband to Shetland, Orkney as well as oil rigs West of Shetland and in the North Sea.

In addition to these broad services Faroese Telecom offers IT and hosting solution through its subsidiary Formula.

GIBRALTAR Gibtelecom

As Gibraltar’s leading telecommunications company, Gibtelecom provides fixed, mobile and broadband services, as well as business enterprise solutions. The Company runs Payment Card Industry compliant data centres, as well as a global network which spans half-way around the world with various European points-of-presence. This network includes the Europe India Gateway submarine cable system from the UK to India, connecting three continents and linking to other subsea connections, in which Gibtelecom is a consortium shareholder. Gibtelecom is accredited as a ‘Recognised for Excellence’ member of the European Foundation for Quality Management.

GREENLAND TELE-POST

GUERNSEY Sure

TELE-POST covers a population of 56,000 scattered over thousands of kilometres, providing telecommunications, information technology and postal services. Even the smallest village has radio, TV and a telephone link to the outside world, and even small settlements have broadband internet and mobile phone services. The head office is in Nuuk, and the company is represented in every town in Greenland.

Sure is Guernsey’s incumbent telecoms provider and we can trace our history in the islands back to 1896 when the Guernsey States Telephone Department decided to establish an independent telephone system for the island, which would have a maximum of 400 subscribers. Nowadays, Sure supplies telecommunication services in and from three major offshore jurisdictions. Across Channels Islands and Isle of Man, we deliver mobile, broadband, fixed line, data centre and enterprise solutions to consumers, corporate and public sector clients.

GUYANA GT&T

Turnover 2015: $2.4 million

Employees: 716

GT&T is Guyana’s incumbent telecoms provider since 1991. GT&T’s shares are owned by Atlantic Tele-Network (80%) and Hong Kong Golden Telecom Company Ltd (20%). The Company offers national and international voice services under an exclusive license, and cellular, broadband, and enterprise data services in a competitive market. The company has concluded a trial FTTH network and is poised to deploy LTE. GT&T owns capacity on the Americas II cable and has partnered with Suriname’s Telesur to land a deepsea cable in Guyana.

ICELAND Mila

Míla has for over 100 years built up, maintained and operated a state of the art telecommunications network in Iceland. Míla is the market leader in this market in Iceland.

Turnover 2014: €39.5 million

Employees: 105

Míla sells its solutions to companies and institutions engaging in telecommunication activities and Icelandic telecommunication companies utilize Míla’s network in most of their solutions. Míla’s products include access to the local loop, leased lines services, bit-stream access and co-location.
