LOŠBATES SCHOOL The new building of LOŠBATES school is a unique example of municipality cooperation and therefore a unique opportunity – it has a potential to create more than just a new building, but even rehabilitation of public space in the suburbs. However, the school should be a creative and inspiring space for its users - children. The object of the school actively works with the articulation of the character of the public spaces and also the organization of the building and creates spaces for children’s safety, education, games, and leisure, at the same time it gives many benefits to its surroundings. CHILDREN'S WORLD Elementary school is a whole world for a small child, so it is more than important to pay a special attention to this typology. It is necessary to create a space where
children feel safe, a space that will encourage them to play, help to bring new friendships and, of course, a place that will allow children to concentrate and gain new information. A large part of these variables are in the hands of future Lošbates teachers, but the task of our proposal was clearly to create ideal conditions for this child's world of knowledge. ABOUT THE NEW SCHOOL The new school offers a meeting point for the wide community of LOŠBATES. It is a new contemporary school center that offers flexible uses; both for the teaching activity and for cultural, sports and recreational activities; with the aim to integrate the communities. In daily use as in special events, all kinds of activities that will have a place here throughout the year, following the village calendar. It is inserted in the preexisting urban concept, respecting the landscape and the context where is placed using local work and
technologies for its construction, to generate a set with which the inhabitants feel welcome and identified. COMMUNITY LIFE Our proposal works with the whole plot area to be able to provide service for a big number of activities at the same time. Spaces connected to the school are designed in the way to have the capacity to serve large and small groups of people, of all ages, at different times of the day and through all the seasons of the year.
CONNECTION OF THE CAMPUS Starting from the existing master plan, we find there is a mention of the neighborhood path and the inclusion of the inter-landscape. We try to support this phenomenon in our proposal and the school site should work as another pearl on the necklace of the neighborhood path, another possible stop on the way through the countryside, in this case with use for everybody. It should be an element of the cultural landscape in contact with the forest and wildest character of the surrounding parts of this path.
URBAN CONCEPT / CURRENT SITUATION The advantage of Louňovice and its surroundings is that it posses a quite significant and interesting landscape character. The Louňovice ponds, the surrounding valley and forests bring to the area of urban sprawl with a potential for recreational facilities.
URBAN DESIGN OF THE CAMPUS With a relatively strict separation of public / semi-public and private (pure school areas), the proposal defines the use of neighboring plots. The entrance area, as well as the northern “wooden” park, serves all inhabitants of the village of Louňovice and all the passers-by as a cultural recreational background with

elements for the play of children of all ages (playground for the smallest, skatepark, etc.). The school access is of high importance, as it serves as an agora; a gathering spot in connection with the auditorium of the building, which, not only holds school events but also serves the wider public indoors and outdoors. Half-public school spaces offer the opportunity to function as a closed fenced area or publicly accessible one, depending on the policy of the school management. In any case, this space is separated from the main communication streams by the mass of the school building and creates a more private southern sun garden which is connected to the primary level. This area works as a more sheltered place for the stay of smaller children under the supervision of the teachers and as the buffer zone from private gardens. The western oriented sports complex serves in the morning for school lessons and in the afternoon for leisure
activities of the wider public. For special occasions, there is a car parking/basketball field in the northern part of the sports area, which can be used according to current needs and the number of parking cars. The landscape is prepared to serve people as the small amphitheater to watch the game, another plus is the wall of the neighboring gym which can be used as a climbing wall to add more recreational activities to the area. Totally private remains the internal school atrium, which is intended for school pupils' leisure time during breaks or afternoon classes. This is an easy-to-control area that could be used for short-term children's games as well as the main outdoor school gathering area.

ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY The plot is divided into four spaces of different characteristics, contemplating the needs of the project and the quality of the area:
The program is organized into four basic operating groups according to their programmatic affinities. These will generate the architectural volumes:

The volumes are placed in order to generate functional connections through the entire complex and at the same time allow a prudent separation of activities. The primary and secondary buildings are separated to make their activities more independent and generate a common space in between. the auditorium - library - management block functions as a connector between the teaching areas, while the gym closes the central courtyard.
The new project creates a spatial diversity, a new meeting center designed to host activities for the wide community, at all times of the day and week. The spaces dialogue and complement each other, generating a new centrality to enrich the experiences of each inhabitant of LOŠBATES.

We see as an important factor, implementation of the new school into the character of the neighborhood. We generate a silhouette of sloping roofs traditional for this area as well as using a wood covering to generate a dialogue with the forest. The concept of environment-friendly tries to go beyond the passive character to become active. This idea is visible in the design of the school as well as in the design of the landscape. The school educates kids not just by having gardens and seedbeds to green life and positive coexistence with natures. The whole energy concept of school is developed in the way to follow the sun, use as much of its heat as possible in the combination with a compact form of architecture.
The building design includes the different conditions to generate a comfortable environment, both in Winter and Summer. The depth of the walls, the shape, the orientation, and openings on the buildings allows a passive system for a year-long lower artificial energy consumption, which will make possible to avoid using artificial methods of air conditioning during the warmest part of the year. During the winter, where temperatures go as low as -10° Celsius, the building will use an efficient heating system designed to complement the favorable conditions gained by the passive design.
- Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning performed by two 61W 090 Carrier AquaSnap water-cooled chillers. - Ground floor and basement with underfloor heating by hot water (including Gymnasium and all classrooms). - Second floor desks, coffee shop, and cellar´s apartment with 42V Hydronic wall mounted cooling & heating fan coil units. - Auditorium with heating and ventilating 39L Carrier air handlers. - Gym (including locker rooms) with complementary 39L Carrier heating and ventilating air handlers. - General ventilation supplied at the second-floor alley with filtered and preheated air, generating positive pressure inside the building. - Double door with forced heated air in-between at the main entrance. - Exhaust extraction fans at the kitchen, bathrooms and dressing rooms.
1) A PLACE FOR GATHERING_ Access, West View. This is a typical Sunday scene. The New Losbates school, welcomes different activities of the community: an art presentation in the Auditorium, is prepared, while a band plays in the square, many approach and discover the sale of lemonade, ideal for those who came to practice sports or for those who are taking garden classes and also for those who only came to enjoy the place with friends or family.
2) SUN PLAYGROUND_South View. The playground facing south, in contact with the area of primary level and preparatory class, is perfect for games and outdoor classes. It gives the school a protected and sunny space for the little ones.

3) COURTYARD_ Fenced Playground View. This is the heart of the school, where all students and all activities meet, in a protected and sunny place. Flanked by the Auditorium on one side
4) FLUID SPACE for FLUID KNOWLEDGE_ Inside View. The interior of the school is presented as an adaptable and fluid space for the development of contemporary education, with enough space for classrooms and intermediate spaces for use and projection. Where students feel at home.

Land-Use Plan The implementation of an open new connection for cars between Kutnohorska 1/2 and Soubezna will be through a turning lane and the new path will also have a pedestrian sidewalk and a bike lane for comfortable and adequate access for everybody. The zebra and turning lane will help

reduce the speed of the cars and the planned road in the land use plan will connect the building with the rest of the town. This passage through the land will materialize as a bike lane and a winding pedestrian path between the trees. The park will function as a resting point in the circuit. You
can sit in the shade or have a coffee in the cafeteria open to the square. The terrace can remain open and grant a moment of relaxation contemplating the landscape. In this way, a landscape circuit of Lounovice and its surroundings will be perfectly closed.

PROGRAM FUNCTIONALITY The diagram shows the circulations, accesses and visual connections that the building presents. Each sector has an independent entrance but it also works as one connected complex. At level 0, a circulation ring connects the primary level, auditorium, secondary level and gymnasium, while surrounding the courtyard. On the ground floor and at the 1st level of the primary and secondary sectors, the halls and services can be organized without adding corridors. Each part of the school has expansions to terraces or gardens. It also shows the possibilities of the school auditorium, showing how it can be open and serve different events.

FLEXIBLE PROJECTION
The building is open to students and the non-school public regardless of the schedule. The gym, the auditorium, the school of arts and the flats, have independent entrances from the outside. This allows the simultaneous use of several activities.
While enabling independence, it is essential to generate synergy between the spaces. The Agora and the inner courtyard are both visually and spatially connected through a big opening with sliding panels. In this way, it would be possible to host activities of many people but more intimate and sheltered.
The design is conceived on a grid plan. This module makes future growth much easier and more rational. It is expected that the expansions will be developed towards the end of the primary and secondary volumes, already framed by the original structure. By doing this, spatial qualities are not going to be affected. Meanwhile, space is used to generate complementary activities for the school.
Modulation also contributes to the occasional growth of each space. To gain flexibility and provide quality at the same time, these were conceived in such a way as to obtain wide open spaces on their sides and fronts for immediate use. Children and teachers will be able to freely dispose of these free spaces creatively.
5) PUBLIC PLAYGROUND AND SPORT SURFACE_ Forest View. Neighbors and students will be able to enjoy a space of games and recreation in front of the forest at all times and every day of the year. It also allows independent access to the gym and is equipped with new courts to the outside, a 200m Athletic oval and a new skate park for the more adventurous.
6) THE SCHOOL IN THE LANDSCAPE_ Aereal View The project is part of the urban and landscape plan designed for Lounovice, creating a new meeting and identity center for the community.
