NLP and language learning. NLP is an acronym and means Neuro-Linguistic Programming. `Neuro-Linguistic Programming’, refers to the view that a person is a whole mind-body system, and that there are assumed to be systematic, patterned connections between neurological processes (`neuro’), language (`linguistic’) and learned behavioural strategies (`programming’) (Dilts, Bandler, & DeLozier 1980 p.2) It is a method that has to do with how our brain works in the use of language at the moment of language learning, and through this method can be proved how our brain reacts to the stimuli when a person is studying and learning a new language or a first language. Our experiences are really important in this method, because it focuses in how body and mind are connected, and at the same time, it shows us that we have internal tools that we do not use , even we are not aware of them. NLP has relations with us, as human beings. Furthermore, NLP can help us in different aspects of our lives. And finally this method can be used in any aspect of learning and teaching. First, NLP has relations with us, because NLP has to do with how we think, how we talk and communicate, and our emotional side and behavior. We visualize the world with our five senses, through our experiences in the world, and it helps to our use of language, I mean experiences. So, if we change how we speak, and how we feel about things before tell them, we change our behaviour, with this, people can be helped, changing their behaviour. Second, NLP can help us in different aspects of our lives. NLP helps us to learn in a successfully way influenced by emotions and psychological states, changes bad manners and behaviour for good ones, so we can behave better in different situations, helps us in changing the way we face our lives and daily tasks, it makes us aware on our impact in others so, some people can be real role models to others, and finally it helps us to understand our own motivations. Third, this method can be used in any aspect of learning and teaching. Some examples are: presentations skills, planning, teaching design, classroom management, and so on. A lot of practical applications for teaching are described by Churches and Terry ( 2007). One example is the use of space and where you as a teacher are located, and where you locate your students in the classroom to manage the states of them, called `spatial anchoring’: `By consistently adopting a particular behaviour or approach when you stand or sit in one place, your learners will begin to associate that space with what you are about to do and what will happen next. Your learners’ own internal state will change in anticipation for what they know from experience will come next. As their internal state changes so will their behaviour. This works for adult learners in a training environment just as well as it does with children in the classroom.’ (Churches & Terry 2007 p.110) As a conclusion NLP is a really good tool to be used in teaching and learning because NLP has a lot of relations with human beings, and NLP can help humans for being better in a lot of different aspects of our lives. And finally this method can be used in any aspect of learning and teaching, and at the same time, NLP assumes that all educators necessarily influence the responses of learners through their use of space, language and so on.
