The USA "Stars & Stripes": The 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 states and the 13 stripes represent the thirteen British colonies that rebelled against the British monarchy and became the first states in the Union.
History In 1492 Christopher Columbus discovered the "New World". In 1607 an English settlement is founded in Jamestown, Virginia. Twelve years later the first African slaves are brought to the area. In 1620, English pilgrims settle in Massachusetts. At the 18th century the colonial settlers rebel against British rule on the east coast. After the War of Independence, 13 colonies sign the Declaration of Independence and form the USA (1776).
During the 19th and 20th centuries the north and south of the country fight in the Civil War. The north won and 37 new states are added. In October of 1929 the stock market crash and it formed the great depression. Also black people fight to obtain equal rights. Nowadays The USA is a world superpower that has been victim of terrorist attacks and the world still remembers the attack to the twin towers. It has recently pulled out from war in Irak & Afghanistan. Obama is now present president.

Important cities. Part I New Zealand has a lot of important cities, like Queenstown or the capital of the Island, Wellington, but now we are going to talk about Auckland. Auckland is one of the most important cities, it has over a million habitants in the metropolitan area, and this city is the biggest in the island by far. Its also called “The City of Salis.”

The city is located in the North Island, on narrow isthmus of land that joins the Northland peninsula to the rest of the North Island, it also is important because its near of everywhere; in 30 minutes you can be on the beach, or at the forest seeing wild animals in their natural
environment. This is one of the most important cities because of its important monuments, for example, the Museum of Auckland or the Sky Tower. At the Sky Tower, you can climb it to the top and when you are there, you can see the full city and it marvellous landscape. Important cities. Part II Another one of the most important cities in the country is Wellington, the official capital of the State, and also the biggest capital of all Oceania. This city is located at the South of the Northern Island; this one is the second important city in the country, after Auckland. At this city there are some interesting places like the coast of Kapiti and the mountains Rimutaka. The city is home to Te Papa, the national museum, which tells the story of New Zealand’s history through bold and interactive exhibits. In Wellington you’ll discover an amazing range of cafes, art galleries, theatres, attractions and a humming nightlife. The gourmet and wine experiences of the Wairarapa region are also just a short drive away. All the Saturdays in the underground there is a market, it begins at 10 a.m. and it ends at 4 p.m. and there you can enjoy the live music from some of Wellington's finest musicians and experience why the whole family will love the Wellington Underground Market.

Top ten things to do/ see In New Zealand, you can do quite many things: 1- Bungee jumping: at the country there are a lot of places where you can jump with a rope, one of the most famous places to do bungee jumping is in the observatory of New Zealand, it has an altitude of 450 meters. 2- Swimming with sharks: at the Poor Knights Islands you can visit the sharks inside of a metal cage (is a dangerous experience). 3- Visit Maori settlements: at New Zealand you can enter to a tour and visit the old Maori settlements and learn their culture and traditions, for example: the Maori dance or the way that the Maori say “HELLO”.
4- Drive along the Pacific coast: travel by car around New Zealand is a good way to discover the marvellous wildlife of the country, also you can contemplate the ocean while you are driving you car on the road, or visit the forest and see the curious animals inside it. 5- Visit the Eastern Bays routes: New Zealand is an epic surf destination situated well into the roaring forties and exposed to the wider Pacific Ocean, its perfectly positioned to receive waves from 360° year round. Surfing in New Zealand is a remarkable experience; the coast is so diverse from the sub-tropical northland beaches to the Antartic cold catlins surf in southland.

8- Drive around the Skippers canyons: this is one of the most important experiences you can do with a car, because those canyons have an incredible landscape. But also, if you like to walk, you can visit the canyons by foot and see from near the landscape. 9- Visit the scenarios of the “The Lord of the Rings”, because there, some parts of the film were filmed at there. One of the places is Matamata, or Takaka Hill. 10- Go to the Treble Cone and ski: you can enjoy the landscape of the snowed mountains and practice some ski there, because during all year round, there is snow in some of the mountains.
