degree's final project

getting back to analog navigation.

Timon is a device which encourages the displacements by walk, based on user's momentary desires, disconnecting people with distraction and connecting them with environment along the way. IIn 2050, 75% of the world population will live in cities. How are those crowds of people going to move along it? Considering that most of the city shifts are of less than 2.5 km?

For example, in Barcelona, 4.400.000 shifts happen daily. The energy saved, by not using a car or a motorbike for distances of less than 3km, would be reduced at 60%. Besides, some reports, refer to the more efficient ways of moving along the city, as those lower of 3km done by foot. This project has been structured based on user centered methodologies, This research compiled

02

two parts. First, a scientific investigation was realized and a human approach was defined. After, a design innovation framework was created to get a proper idea generation process, which served to transform the concept into a product technically solved.

HOW IT WORKS?

getting ready to go! The device is connected with pedestrans' smartphones via Bluetooth. A destination is set up from the App before departing. Afterwards, three 'tags' need to be introduced, such as relevant words. And finally, puting the smartphone away from one's sight. Hence, shifts are totally customizable in relation with the actual mood. Timon just shows the direction allowing the user to decide which turns to make.

HOW IT WORKS?

Technical Approach It has a magnetometer, accelerometer and gyroscope constantly recalculating the user's position, allowing the device to get updated constantly and to keep pointing to the right direction. A Bluetooth receiver is contained into the device to send GPS information from the App to the device.

Vanpack New products for new habits.

The first box with no flaps. This project was required to meet Ecomerce’s customers' needs in means of cardboard packaging. VanPack was developed together with Saicapack, a Spanish company focused on creating sustainable solutions using paper and board packaging.

24

Made it by just a piece of cardboard Items rolled up inside the box, to take up as little space as possible and to avoid wrinkling. From the outside, the box provides an austere design aiming to not to draw the attention, but the inside can be customized according to brand aesthetic, to give a colorful and surprising experience to costumers.

Providing a new life to old stuff. Gota family lamps are a minimalist design created from old PVC pipes, molded through heat. Lots of pipes are wasted in old buildings, which will finish in landfills for their difficult characteristics to be recycled. This project wants to show how easy and cheap could be, manufacturing your own lamp at home with useless materials.

34

GOTA FAMILY

Get it for just 14 Eur Drop is easily fabricated, which directly affects its price. It has a few components: PVC pipe (with translucent body), text cable, a led strip, and an electricity transformer. The body is bent with heat, using carved wooden molds. Once done, a hole is made at the bottom allowing the cable and the led strip to entry. Finally, the lighting is covered with a piece of tape, to get the other parts painted.
