VACATION HOME
Project type: NewConstruction
Area: 1460sq.ft
Location:GeorgianBay,ON
The site is on a waterfront property in Georgian Bay, Ontario, submerged in nature, and shrouded by trees. The building is within reach of a small sandy beach and has access to views of beautiful sunsets to the west. The building envelope is designed to blend into the natural landscape. The environment and sustainable living are important for the clients so it is necessary todesignconscientiously.
There are two buildings on this property, the main house and the guest house. The main house is open concept: connecting the living room, kitchen, and dining room for socializing and entertaining guests, with a split level for the pottery studio and bedroom. The guest house is a small cozy loft with a great view of the lake. The orientation of the cottage provides access to beautiful views via the floor-to-ceiling windows and decks while maintaining a level of privacy. The roofs are constructed of galvanized sheets for durability. The stone for the property is locally sourced and the millwork is to be sourced from sustainablymanagedforests.

The country's unique needs and the people in which the restaurant would beestablished.
A Cherokee term meaning ‘local’, Navi is dedicated to sustainable and ethical farming, sourcing native seasonal ingredients from the land to flavour its robust Australian menu, while also creating an environment that is inclusive and accessible. Drawing inspiration from the land, the idea for the restaurant’s design is derived from exploring beneath the surface of Australia’s topography, by slicing through the rock to reveal the earthy tones, and orange layers, where the mineral has begun to rust and break away leaving behind porous texture, and hallowed cores within the rock.
The asymmetry of the stone structure carves out the interior into a series of separated private, and public spaces, dedicated to hierarchal needs, connectedbychannels, andenvelopedbythestrongbuildingstructure.

RESTAURANT CONCEPT
The restaurant's design is inspired by the natural beauty found beneath Australia's surface, capturing the earthy tones and textures that emerge when slicing through rock layers. This concept brings the warm, rust-coloured layers and porous textures of the earth into the space, creating an environment that feels raw and organic. Asymmetrical stone structures shape the interior, carving out a series of private and public spaces that cater to various needs. These areas are connected by natural, flowingpathways, allwhilebeingenveloped by the building's strong and grounding presence, whichtiestheentireexperienceto the rugged beauty of the Australian landscape.
