Julia Alford-Fowler

Julia Alford-Fowler (b. 1978) completed her MM Composition degree from the UMKC in 2005 and is a candidate for the degree of DMA in Music Composition at the Boyer College of Music, Temple University. She has studied with several notable composers including James Mobberley, Paul Rudy, Zhou Long, Maurice Wright and currently Matthew Greenbaum. She has collaborated with many musicians including Bassoonist Pascal Gallois, Accordionist Lidia Kaminska, Cellist Jason Calloway, the Momenta String Quartet and choreographer, Carolina Del Hierro. She is a member of American Composers Forum, Society of Composers and ASCAP. In addition to composing, she devotes time to organizing concerts in Philadelphia and researching topics in polystylism and gender issues in the music at the turn of the 20th century. Her music has been performed in Philadelphia, New York, Kansas City, MO, Wheaton, IL and Brevard, NC.
