Belgian première of this American coming-of-age movie by Marielle Heller. Based on the graphic novel by Phoebe Gloeckner, ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl’ recounts the coming-of-age adventures of Minnie Goetze, a San Francisco teenager growing up in the counterculture haze of the 1970s when she enters into an affair with her mother’s boyfriend.

German B-movie by directors Jörg A. Hoppe, Heiko Lange & Klaus Maeck. Amidst the art, music and chaos of West Berlin in the 1980s we find Mark Reeder, a twenty-two-year-old musician from Manchester with a fascination for German electronic music. Reeder, who is a successful producer today, is our screwy guide to Berlin before the wall fell.

Official Selection Competition. Drama by Dalibor Matanić. Three different love stories, set in three consecutive decades, in two neighboring Balkan villages, burdened with a long history of interethnic hatred: this is a film about the dangers - and the enduring strength - of forbidden love.

‘The Boy Friend’ is a 1971 British-American musical comedy film directed by Ken Russell, starring: Twiggy, Christopher Gable, Tommy Tune and Max Adrian. It’s an adaptation of the same named musical by Sandy Wilson. Think 1920’s Hollywood, beautiful costumes and a delightful appearance of poster girl Twiggy.

Official Selection Competition. Scifi Romance by Yorgos Lanthimos. In a dystopian near-future state, single people are arrested and transferred to The Hotel, where they are obliged to find a suitable mate within 45 days. If they fail, they will be transformed into the animal of their choosing and sent into The Woods. With ‘The Lobster’ Lanthimos symbolizes the coming of age of the Greek Weird Wave.

“Romeo and Juliette in the ghetto of Brussels.” That’s the pitch directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah used for the follow up to their début ‘Image’. They’re selected for the Film festival of Toronto, which brings them one step closer to their childhood dream: capturing Hollywood. In ‘Black’ a 15-year-old girl from a Brussels gang must choose between loyalty and love when she falls for a Moroccan boy from a rival gang.

Official Selection Competition. Longing to discover the world on the other side of the mountain, María, a mayan woman, seduces a coffee harvester who wants to escape to the USA. When this man leaves her behind, María discovers her own culture from a new perspective. Début film by director Jayro Bustamante.

Début by Robin Pront with Kevin Janssens, Jeroen Perceval and Veerle Baetens in the lead roles. In ‘D’Ardennen’ a brutal home jacking goes hopelessly wrong. Dave, one of the two robbers, manages to run off, leaving his brother Kenneth behind. Four years later, Kenneth is released from prison but a lot has changed over time.

Anastassia (23) is production manager at Earlybirds Films, a young Ghent-based productionhouse. She’s responsible for the good course of shoots and projects. Besides movies, she also loves losing herself in music. Her favourite pastime is hanging out with her friends, travelling and making new contacts.

Alizé (28), born in Brussels but raised in West Flanders, eventually settled with Ghent. She works as a freelance set dresser/art director in the film, commercial and music industry. Photography intrigues her, especially its intimate nature. Additionally she loves to get carried away by her spontaneous impulses. Spending next weekend in Berlin? Everything is possible!

Sofie (27) is showroom manager at PR agency Oona in Antwerp, home to clients such as Julia June, Komono, la fille D’o, Hendrick’s Gin and many more. This Gantoise in heart and soul is a true fashion enthusiast and health/ sports fanatic. Keeping those long legs of her in shape may be one of her favourite pastimes, but she also loves to have a good night out with her girls!

Els, living in Bruges is Julia June’s production manager and also an indispensable link in our creative design team. She is feisty, as her red hair already spills the beans, but also one of the most hardworking people you’ve ever met. Her closet is a well-kept secret but I bet it would turn plenty of fashionistas into green eyed monsters. Last but nog least: she has a heart of gold!
