Located in the heart of the state, Trichy is known for its isolated hillocks rising above the surface, the highest of which is the Rockfort; its estimated age of 3,800 million years makes it one of the oldest rocks in the world. Other prominent hillocks include the Golden Rock, Khajamalai, and one each at Uyyakondan Thirumalai and Thiruverumbur. These hillocks usually have a cuboidal periphery wall surrounding a temple nestled at the centre. These cuboidal structures are morphed into the structure of the Shopping mall which is proposed near the Malaikovil, Thiruverumbur. It is mandatory that the building responds to the local context hence the inspired form.
