Diagnostic plan - main spatial strategies
I participated and gave assistance in the research project “The Re-naturalization for the San Francisco River” in the historic center of Bogotá D.C. The team was composed by a multidisciplinary group, in which different entities as universities, ONGs, local authorities and the aqueduct administration participated. In the study, three general hypothesis of intervention were set out (cf. numbers in the plan): 1 & 2 - The channeled River with the construction of “stations” in strategic points with a controlled access but with no transit allowed. 3 - The channeled River and some open spaces with ecological circuit developed in the riverbank. 4 - The River in its natural aspect without canalization.

Renaturalization of San Francisco River Cerros de Bogotá Foundation / Los Andes University at Diana Wiesner Architecture and Landscape
The project aimed to integrate all the design propositions in order to agree and share information about the “renaturalization of San Francisco River”. These schemes were developed by different public entities. Therefore, the Andes University created an online platform called “Mesa renaturalización rio San Francisco”. During the concept design the team developed workshops, site visits and various design meetings.

Workshop Landscape = Landart “Cerros de Bogotá”Foundation
I worked as a volunteer for the workshop landscape = Landart.
Horizon Cultural Threshold It’s a pilot project developed by the social society of the ecological corridor of the Bogotá Mountains: it is an urban and ecological portion of nature let to the citizen’s service. This space aims to support artistic and contemplative activities as well as educational, sportive, civic and ecological activities. This is a challenge for the social community management to control and take care of a part of the urban border of the city. The land was donated to the Cerros de Bogotá Foundation in December 2013 and it is in a legal procedure in order to become a social citizen’s reserve. The voluntary work is essential for its maintenance and the project’s development. The foundation integrates a solid group of professional and student volunteers.
Workshop green canvas This is an open space for the citizens to appropriate social and ecological matters through art and culture. It is a space to design and develop projects in order to preserve and sensitize people about the importance in protecting and caring the Bogota Mountains and the environment. Landart and landscape projects aim to create outdoors spaces that cultivate human interaction with nature. In this workshop, “green Canvas”, artists intend to capture their impression in the mountain as a canvas. All the projects must use recycle materials or elements from the site.

Residential Park - San Jerónimo de Yuste. We produced the landscape Master plan and garden’s plan for the first stage of the residential complex. The landscape master plan included research and analysis of natural resources and the physical conditions of the site (at the valley of the Bogotá Mountains). The construction of the garden’s first section was completed with the agreement and the participation of residents through workshops and horticulture’s classes. The site presented difficult physical conditions due to bad management of the natural vegetation during the construction stage.

Community plantations
In addition to the master plan design, we developed a research and social program in order to sensitize and inform people about the importance of the Bogotรก mountains ecosystem. Through community plantations and workshops, we created a cultural exchange and we integrated different perceptions about the care and protection of the environment. We designed different typologies of vegetation for the reforestation program and a maintenance manual with suggestions in order to reduce the impact of the urban construction and the bad physical conditions of the site.

Landscape Project Nativa architecture - Sustainable earth architecture
Cris de la Palma House
Design and execution of the landscape project at the “Cris de la Palma” House placed in Barichara, a cultural heritage city of Colombia. The House is located in a very dry and erosive region. In this region, there are two rainy seasons during the entire year. The use of plants with a high capacity of adaptation to such environment was key in the design of the project’s gardens. Local species were actually prefered as a strategy to respond to the climate requirements. The landscape project was planned in agreement with the architect Camilo Holguin, the designer of the house project and the director of the studio Nativa, sustainable earth architecture, in which I worked as an architect. The construction of the house followed the traditional local methods of the region, using walls in dirt and stone.

botanical reports.
I designed the landscape project for the Pacific E&P competition. The whole project proposed the construction of a new village to host the company´s workers near by the oil´s camps in the department of Meta, in Colombia. (Pacific E&P Corp. is a Canadian company, dedicated to the exploitation and production of natural gas and crude oil).
Floral trees species - Cultural Complex -
The challenge on this project was the design of low impact constructions that respond to sustainable approach, in order to create a symbiosis between the landscape project and the natural landscape. Also, the humidity of the weather is an important characteristic of this flat low region, crossed by many rivers that come down from the Andes Mountains. Reforestation species - Humid forests -
Shade trees species
The project proposed four architectural schemes for the village: business complex, cultural complex, commercial complex and sport complex.
Plumeria’s trees - Sport Complex -
The vegetation required for the design to be chosen from the local types, in order to ensure its adaptability and the maintenance of the natural flora and fauna. I proposed a different group of species for each complex. In addition, I proposed special species for the reforestation of the “morichales” the most important ecosystem in the region. These humid forests (morichales) enable the stocking of the water reducing inundations risks.

The House is located in a tropical region near the city of Medellin in Colombia. The garden surface is 3,000 m2 and the design proposed three principal courtyards (patio) and two paths; one of these paths gives access to the Covent and the other one gives access to the ossuary. The landscape project includes environmental and climate issues to improve the design. Native vegetation was used.

Final MSc degree project MSc in Theories and Approaches of Landscape Projects
The staging of the industrial landscape: a revolutionary artist approach? The case of England (1750-1850). The Industrial Revolution is the object of varied and often contradictory opinions and criticism, in particular with regards to its effect on landscape planning, with its social, economic and environmental impacts. Even today these issues continue to be critical in academic and professional discussions. On the one hand, a positive approach to industrial development defends industrialisation, intended as the driving force of an era, by creating advanced technologies that contributed to substantial demographic and economic growth. On the other hand, an excess of these practices and the environmental and social consequences of the industrial system led to such significant injustice and damage that make it difficult to assert the revolution’s real success.
This dissertation explores some artworks (in paintings) of industrial landscapes throughout the transition from the first to the second Industrial Revolution (1750-1850). The attention given to these landscapes brings to light the astonishment that the artists experienced in the face of the new industrial landscapes. Indeed, their portrayal illustrates a positive vision influenced in particular by technical and scientific advances, but they also reveal the anxiety of coping with the superiority and power of machines with respect to human control. This superiority is often compared to that of Nature. The analysis of the artworks will rely on the distinction between two aesthetic schools of thought of that time: the picturesque and the sublime. Picturesque: “In short, form a smooth building we must turn it into a rough ruin” (Gilpin,1794) Sublime: “Whatever is in any sort terrible, or is conversant about terrible objects, or operates in a manner analogous to terror, is a source of the sublime” (Burke, 1757)

Three pavilions one circuit 1
Three pavilions compose the route of the circuit project.
The Laud Voice Lecture Pavilion 1
This project aims to connect the colonial historic center of the city to the commercial center known as “international center”. To do so, the project proposes a public circuit related by small publics’ spaces and terraces with a cultural agenda. In each terrace, there is a pavilion conceived as a place to develop the cultural activities of the district and the surrounding buildings.

The Chamber
Photomontage of the ideal chamber with all the principals’ elements
Drawings of my chamber following the changes of light during the night The objective of this exercise is to analyze the principal elements that define the chamber.
Two types of rooms are proposed: the ideal chamber and the minimum chamber, with a 10m2 limited surface. The composing elements of each room (considered relevant by previous analysis) are the fireplace (chimney), the bed, the window, the closet and the desk. In a philosophical approach, I assign to the fire the secret of the intimacy, and the closet symbolize the place that keep that “secret” private. The desk remembers the act of writing and refers to the permanence of the memory and the window symbolize the relation with the exterior. Finally, I give to the bed the veiled reference to the death.

Two Houses in Guaymaral Semesters 5 and 8. This exercise aims to analyze the constructing methods and the theoretical approaches of two different architects: Antoni Gaudi and Guillermo Bermúdez (a Colombian architect, Le Corbusier’s student). The object of the study is to detect the design strategy of each author and to propose a project that follows the same design strategies.
Antoni Gaudí General location plan
Guillermo Bermúdez

House’s and structure’s technic drawings
According to Bermudez’s design technic, all the common spaces are enclosed by gardens. In Gaudi’s architecture, gardens have also a crucial importance for the reduction of the air and visual pollution; indeed the architect uses dense vegetation and extended gardens around his projects to enclose and protect the common spaces.

House of cranes “the block”
São Paulo multifonctional Center The project is located in São Paulo near the new metro station of the yellow line.
different levels
two concrete walls based on four supporting points conformed the main structure
one level = one function
the courtyard = distance between the interior spaces, enable the creation of a new point of view.
The objective of the project is the design of a multifunctional building with cultural and sport activities. The main idea of the design is the creation of a dynamic public space that connects the residential surrounding buildings and the metro station. The square is organized in two main stairs and ramps in order to extend and diversify the public space according to the different activities of the district population (students, workers, pedestrian, families…).
Digital model of the project
The multifunctional center enclosed the square in order to create a central point of convivial encounter for the people living in the district and a dynamic place to stay and transit for the people crossing the square to go to the metro station.

Pavilion’s Construction Semester 7.
In a “Technic workshop” coursed during my formation in Architecture, we designed and constructed a pavilion in Los Andes University campus. The project aims to expose the pieces that we constructed in exploratory exercises during the year of the workshop. We made pieces in concrete, wood and thermoplastic plate. The pavilion was a half funded by the university and students collected the other half. For the structure, we used corrugated cardboard and a polyethylene sheet for the cover.

Aldo Rossi, case study Two exercises with a collage method. In one hand, we analyzed the masterpiece of architect Aldo Rossi, A Scientific Autobiography, and we used the collage technic to represent extracts from his text. In the other hand, we analyzed the components of our own chamber and the way we used it in order to integrate to the architectural work sensation as the intimacy, the time and the changes of lights during the night. We used the collage technic to represent our chamber and the different experiments with light that we made.
