Ci RESEARCH CENTER Competition, Madrid
This project is located in the Duero River, the boundary between Spain and Portugal. It is a protected Natural Park with abrupt landscape, especially at the river’s sides, where there are precipices as high as 400 meters. One of the challenges of this project was to find the perfect spot for the research center through 106.000 ha area. The main focus of the center is to investigate the fauna near the river, in particular birds and fish. To do so it is important to have a building that gives direct access to the river and let the investigators navigate throughout it, but also it has to have access for land vehicles and walking travelers. That is why the building is formed by different slopes that save the rising ground all the way into the river. The materials used for the structure are steel and wood. The strength of the steel allows a minor impact on the ground and gives form and wood as a natural material to integrate the building to the surroundings.

Another characteristic of this project was that it not only had to welcome scientists but also tourists that visit the Natural Park. There are different covered spaces throughout the “dock who serve for particular means. There are three for the public spaces of the compound, as the reception and information, the cafeteria and the multipurpose building, that can be used by visitors and scientists. Three more buildings halfway of the slope are for tourists, two for small and big groups and a small cabin with two rooms for especial visitors. Separated by another private entrance for vehicles there are two more cabins for the scientists use. One of them is for the laboratories and working offices, while the other one is for their shelter and resting spaces. At the end of the platform is a dock to navigate the river.

MARKET SANCHINARRO Competition, Madrid
Ms
In a new residential development in Madrid, as part of a competition, I designed a modern market. The site for the development of the project was next to an important green space, which is from where I see it, something fundamental for the well functioning of a big city. That is why the main idea of the design was for the building to work as an extension of this green space. To make this possible I designed a green roof with slopes that made possible the access from the green spaces and different access to the building from the ground and first floors. The project also has two basement floors, one for the clients and visitors in the first basement, and a second one for the suppliers and storage rooms, with entrances from the two main streets that surround the building. In the upper levels there was a small supermarket and some small stores and a gym in the second floor.

“One single piece can make the difference

Experimenting with modular metal structures based on one single piece repeated in a pattern. This type of architecture is meant for short term buildings that require being constantly moved and changed; adapting itself to different sites and needs. A must in these structures is to be light and easy to build, that is why a good design of one single piece that can be joined by other identical pieces, is the easiest way to make building instructions for anyone with basic construction knowledge can built. The external cover of the structure is also modular so it can be changed depending on the place and the weather conditions. This way you can have singular buildings with few pieces and a low budget.terrace with great views of the city.

HOUSE 3 Construction, Puebla, Mex.
Located in one of the best residential developments in the city, I design and built a three storage house. The public spaces of the house are located in the ground floor, such as living room, kitchen, fireplace, dining room, TV room and closets. On the upper floor there are two bedrooms with individual bathrooms and a third one with a walk-in wardrobe and a Jacuzzi in the bathroom. There is a garage for 2 cars, laundry room and service room in the basement. There is also a roof terrace with great views of the city.

JEWLERY Construction, Veracruz, Mex.
Luxurious jewelry situated in one of the most popular shopping malls of Veracruz in the south of Mexico. This project was a renovation of an existing old fashion store with a much closed distribution which made the establishment seam even smaller. To solve this I designed an open space with a mezzanine that covers half the floor plan. Also by designing a new facade with glass exhibition furniture, it let the light fill the space and help create a more modern store. All furniture was specially designed for each part of the jewelry. Since the selling products are really expensive and unique, this project demanded a light, material and building analysis and tests to be sure the final product is well exposed. Sometimes small projects with a lot of details mean more work than big projects. This is because many suppliers were involved in this project.

HOTELS AC Hotels by Marriott
As part of the design team at AC Hotels by Marriott, I participated in the design and construction of many hotels in different countries. There are many types of hotels and each has different needs. Some are historical buildings that are remodeled and used as hotels, other are hotels that need to be restored and improved, and there are many new construction buildings in several locations.
Ho
The guestrooms are one fundamental part of a hotel and every detail of them must be designed to function correctly. Each piece of furniture is designed from scratch with a unique design to match the whole space. Experience at choosing the right materials, lights and forms is the clue for the well function of the hotel. This is because a good design needs less maintenance and this translates into saving money which is essential for a business to work properly.
Ho I was involved in the interior design projects, where I designed the image of the different spaces of the hotels. Starting with the public spaces, such as the lobby, front office, restaurant, bar, meeting rooms etc. where every space is designed as single space with its own furniture, material finishes and equipment, but at the same time it must maintain a relationship with the other spaces in the hotel. As shown in the images, the brand explored a modern design, playing with a large scope of materials, textures, colors and light.
