Mission Statement The mission of Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast, Inc. is to provide comprehensive sexual health care through the provision of clinical services, education and advocacy. We do so by understanding and responding to the needs of those seeking our services, and by protecting and respecting the essential privacy rights, dignity and culture of each individual.

A Message From The Board Chair and President/CEO For more than 38 years, Planned Parenthood of South Florida and the Treasure Coast has promoted a commonsense approach to our local community’s health care and education needs based on respect for each individual’s right to make informed, independent decisions about health, sex, and family planning.

In 2009, our local Planned Parenthood affiliate once again made it possible for community members to receive cervical cancer screenings, family planning services, and treatment for sexually transmitted infections. In the face of these turbulent economic times, our board members, donors, volunteers, and staff worked together to expand access to critical reproductive health care and education services by opening two new health centers in Pembroke Pines and Oakland Park in July. We know that increasing access to reproductive health care, especially during difficult financial times, is not only a smart investment in the health and well being of our community, but also saves lives.

We take our responsibility as a health care provider, an educator, and a powerful advocate for reproductive freedom seriously. We know it is this combined focus and expertise that allows us to meet the growing needs of our South Florida and Treasure Coast region and that we are on the front lines of health care delivery providing basic preventative care.

Our caring physicians, nurse practitioners, and other staff take time to talk with clients, encouraging them to ask questions in an environment that millions have grown to trust. We are proud of Planned Parenthood’s vital role in empowering parents with the skills needed to be the primary sexual health educators for their children and safe-guard their own health and lives. This is our mission and it reflects the community’s values.

Despite our large network of supporters, we still face an uphill battle in Congress, in our local community, and even outside our health centers. Our detractors are organized and well-financed, but they cannot change the fact that one in four women in the United States has visited a Planned Parenthood health center in her lifetime. For more than 90 years, Planned Parenthood has been the nation’s leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider. This is who we are. This is what we do.

By understanding and responding to the needs of those seeking our services and by protecting and respecting the essential privacy rights, dignity, and culture of each individual, we have developed our unique position as a trusted health care provider, educator, and advocate.
