Service and building specification brief developed for the procured architects of a new school.
Walker School of Technology was one of the first schools in England to receive funding as part of the government’s £70 billion Building Schools for the Future (BSF) national programme. The money is to improve and upgrade its buildings. Together with Engine Service Design, the school community launched the OurNewSchool initiative to identify the design priorities for their school before the architects came on board. A brief was subsequently developed based on design research findings. It served as basis for the architect's design of the new school. The new school has now been built to these specifications.
The project was run by Engine Service Design as part of DOTT 07.
