Privas is a small town in Ardèche, a mountainous region in southern France home of the Chestnut spread famously known as Crème de marron. in 2018, The city decided it was time to have a proper skatepark. Unlike most skateparks, this one is located smack dab in the city center, in the busiest park. The process was one of participation where local youngsters were asked to sketch ideas on what they envision. On site, 3 mature trees were already occupying the space, our goal was to integrate them in the design so as to make them the central element. The final design articulates the proposed skateboarding elements on a shape that magnifiies the existing trees and creates a pleasant facility both for urban sports people and passers-by.

Zone of influence The work presented here is the result of a public tender for the city of St-Brieuc in Brittany. It was asked to propose a vision for the upcoming future to accompany the construction of a new ring road. Expected for late 2017, the bypass, instead of splitting the old town into two, will circumvent the city and distribute neighbouring municipalities. New accesses raise new perspectives of development with an impact on urbanism as well as on the particular landscape of St-Brieuc. The goal of the mission is to integrate every actors in the process and conciliate point of views to benefit the municipality and therefore create a logic model for others cities in the region of Brittany such as Morlaix or Brest, which are to be concerned by similar projects.

Taktyk is responsible for public spaces on the campus of Plateau of Saclay, namely avenues, boulevards, passages, sports facilities, parks and one major urban space: the deck. When working at Taktyk, I was highly involved in the design development phase for the deck. I took part in several questions regarding this space such as construction concerns, conceptual dilemmas and presentations which led me to work on multiple documents: diagrams, plans, notices. Later on during my internship, I have participated in a construction document for the longest street of the campus. I was in charge of the layout plan. An important asset of working on this project was the interface aspect; conception of spaces and buildings are divided between a wide range of offices and thus, variable ways of working.

Towards Skateboard Urbanism? Stories from Barcelona & Copenhagen
Master’s thesis in urban studies September 2018
In times of Neo-Liberal urbanism, it is hard to distinguish profit-oriented projects from the genuinely democratic ones. Disruptive urban practices are slowly seeing themselves being institutionalised through new urban regimes – see for example squatting, freeganism or skateboarding- for better or worst remains to be seen. Skateboarding has now investigated our urban realms for several decades and regardless of how it has been repressed or celebrated, cities council are more and more concentrating on the phenomenon by fostering hybrid spaces for skateboarding. From landskate parks to skate dots, new modus operandi are hatching worldwide reexamining skateboarding in a way that makes the concept of skate park obsolete. Skateboarding will be an olympic sport in 2020 and with that comes an unprecedented influx of funding, will it genuinely reinforce the community or solely sentence the institutionalisation of lifestyle sports? This overarching question touches upon the complexity of investing public funding in risk-prone spaces, especially when skateboarding has predominantly been depicted as a spontaneous, subversive, wild activity -not to be designed for. Nowadays, urban politics are including skateboard to the urban fabric as part of a wider step towards the multifunctional city and skateboard urbanism could be a key player in provoking narratives aiming at making cities a better place to live. Contemporary practices will be investigated in Barcelona and Copenhagen to depict an up-to-date analysis of what skateboard urbanism means for cities as well as for skateboarding. 16

The goal of this studio was to familiarize ourselves with regional planning through multiple exercises. After having analyzed the territory and met municipal officials, the project was to be focused on a particular aspect of the landscape. The work presented here has involved the “îlettes”: a vernacular term used to define small woods coming out the fields, green pockets remnant of the pre-agrarian forest. Those are unique spaces, property of farmers, yet inaccessible with immense potential for the community. The position adopted consists in opening the wood to neighboring residents throughout phases spread over 20 years.

To ensure the rooting of the project, the implementation is subsequently phased. Going through diverse uses, «îlettes» are presumed to reach the collective psyche and therefore, reveals their landscape appeal to the majority.
Phase 1 The first phase proposes to give life to the woods through a charismatic event: a landart festival. The idea is to raise awareness toward those unique spaces and create enthusiasm.

Phase 2 Now that the potential is recognized by everyone, this phase proposes to generate different events taking advantage of what every «îlette» has to offer.
Phase 3 The third phase intends to create a first example of what could be created inside the woods. Here is a playground made a of inclined planes.
Phase 4 The «îlettes» are now a common good for the inhabitants and they need to be accesible at any time. In addition, each of them are equiped with a wood installation that focuses on one spatial appeal..

In days of permanent intellectualisation, Universities embody the absolute knowledge. In charge of conserving, researching and teaching, they appear as the keeper of the very essence of knowledge. Inseparable from the city they represent, they carry a symbolic image in the architectural landscape of cities. Montréal is the host of four universities, and sadly, of four distinct students life. Academic, social and spatial relations are lacking. There is consequently a way for cohesion.

Considering the utopia of joining universities, the challenge is to allow a rallying connexion by dispersing student life amidst the city. To do so, ancient wagons are to be implanted here and there in order to refute the exuberance of universities’ buildings. Those modules are knowledge extensions that hosts activities for student and more. The notion of «Campus» is broadened, allowing more interactions between students, knowledge and cities.
