BRICKELL CITY CENTRE // Assistant Project Manager - Follow up of change orders My first professional experience an assistant project manager in a general contracting company was to build the Brickell City Centre in downtown Miami. Brickell City Centre is a billion dollar mixed-use development strategically located in the Brickell financial district making it the largest project currently underway not only Miami but the

state of Florida. I worked closely with the project manager at one of the 44 story towers to manage project costs related to design modifications. I analyzed design changes for each trade and interact with the team to gather information, consolidate reports, follow up progress and negotiate with the owner.

An billion dollar job site is a 24-7 operation that transforms the city and those constructing it. Brickell city center is reshaping a traditionally financial sector into a worldclass chic cosmopolitan mixed-use development. With five high rise towers transforming the Miami skyline, Brickell City Centre will become the new heart of Brickell. The last pour of the Hotel tower as you see on the picture on the left was on December 2014 and the Hotel just opened in June 2016 and the finishes are still going on.

The execution of an architect’s vision brings forth many challenges and excitement to the construction team. A construction team is like an orchestra, where each individual is responsible for a part indispensable to the final product. The general contractor takes care of the progression and coordinate all the subcontractors. It is the general contractor’s responsibility to be intimately familiar with the full particulars of the final product, building tech-

niques, permitting, liabilities, safety measures, final timetables. What I liked the most working on a job site was the human experience where a lot of people from different background are dealing together. Closely related to my master, I was in charge of all the environmental certifications and the follow up on site.

ORLÉANS (RE)SOURCÉ Increase the value of local ressource The project of Orléans (Re)sourcé is an urban planning project developped during one year with all the class of master. The particularity of the master was the different background of all the students: architects, engineers, politician, urban planners.. The ideas to design the projects were very interesting and animated regarding the different interests. Inside the urban project, me and my group, we designed an architecture wood center.

KO SI CHANG - From the pier to the beach -

06 Richard Scoffier - 2012

INFRASTRUCTURE Chulalongkorn University - Bangkok, Thailand Ko Si Chang is a small island in Thailand with a flourishing tourist industry. However, current infrastructure is not designed for such development. We propose a new ferry terminal to connect the beaches on the west with the forests in the middle of the island. The idea is to provide infrastructure to facilitate tourist development alongside the island’s’ different transportation networks such as cars, buses, pedestrians, motor bikes and skylabs. In an effort to reduce urban sprawl and tourism’s ecological footprint, infrastructure development alongside the road would incorporate cars, buses, pedestrians, motor bikes and skylabs into a singular structure. So, our project offers a new way to organize the flow of tourists coming in the island. To preserve the natural landscape, everything is concentrate around, in or under the road.

COMPETITION - MenoMenoPiu Architects, Daegu Gosan Library , Korea

This project focuses on creating a community with Daegu’s Metropolitan Center with consideration for urban flows and social trends. The goal of this design was to develop a local community that can tie into the rest of the city. The library is an invitation to residents and citizens to explore the spaces and volumes of books that it contains. Beginning with the essential library element of the bookcase, the architects’ design extends this module into the structural grid and develops it into the exterior facade. The structure is expressed in wood, a traditional building material employed in a contemporary way.

SOCIAL HOUSING - Industrial design - Undergraduate Project

This project began with an original concept developed by Lacaton & Vassal architects. Using techniques of glass horticulture, the challenge was to create various ways of living incorporating elements of industrial design. Each of the 30 houses is unique with different characteristics: yard, patio, housing under hull and living space enclosed in glass, all designed to give inhabitants a feeling of identity. The entire block is composed by two floors made of regular concrete. However, some patios are created to introduce views and vegetation. Three different types of living are designed: one floor apparment with a large terrasse (horizontal), 2 storeys housing surrounded by a yard (vertical) and housing under hull.

3D Modelling Inspired by furniture design, we created various virtual projects: a tower, a condo and a villa with the same concept invented by Patrick Join for his iconic chair. The architectural concept is founded on cells, which make the structure of the chair. In this workshop, the main idea was to manipulate the 3d modelling tool to invent space that we could not have made without a computer in that short amount of time.

CAMPANA’S DESIGNERS

WORKSHOP / EXHIBITION

GARRAFA Recycling plastic bottles into jewlery

Based in Sao Paulo, Estudio Campana is constantly investigating new potential in concepts and uses for different clashes of materials. Their work incorporates the idea of transformation and reinvention. Giving preciousness to poor, day-to-day or common materials carries not only the creativity in design, but also very Brazilian characteristics – the colors, the mixtures, the creative chaos, the triumph of the simple solutions.

11 Video & Performance

COLOR IMMERSION In my second year of architecture schooling i delved into the concept of color immersion. My colleague and I collaborated on a video to depicting the body and environment converging through the harmony of color, motion and sound. My body would serve as a flowing canvas to project an image; creating a visual synergism of emotion through sound and motion.
