The Ultimate Guide Series I chose to do a series of Ultimate Guide books. These books are similar to 101 books or For Dummies books in the sense they give you an overall know-how on a particular subject. I have chosen to do three of the things I enjoy most. This is Travel, Yoga and Fashion. Each book stays within the theme colouring of Blue, Earth Brown, and Black. Each of the books in the series also have the same text for ‘The Ultimate Guide’. I decided to keep this font simple and the same for each one to make it distinguishable as a series. The main feature on each book cover, is the subject font i.e Travel, Yoga, Fashion and the Composition of each book. Each book is A5 in size, so it is large enough to carry around with you but small enough that it can fit in a handbag or backpack etc. The following will show a progression and the outcome of my work.
Book 1: Progress
Book 1 in the series is The Ultimate Travel Guide. When first thinking of ideas I knew I wanted the word Travel to be big and bold. I liked the idea of the words the ultimate guide in a simple format and the word travel in a calligraphy type of format. So I just played around with the different ways I could stylise the font until I found one I liked the best. After that I scanned it onto my computer and vectorised my work.

Book 2: Progress
Book 2 in the is The Ultimate Yoga Guide. My original Idea was to do a cultural looking font in the middle of the page, however I felt like this was too similar to the first book and then thought of using yoga pose silhouttes to form the word Yoga. The first attempt I used many more smaller silhouttes to make each character, howver they were so small that you could not tell they were doing Yoga poses. So for my final book cover, I have made the figures larger and have less presented in each character.

Book 3: Progress
Book 3 in the series is The Ultimate Fashion Guide. I decided to do the opposite to what I did with the Yoga book and have the letters make up an image. My first few sketches I decided what kind of image I wanted to make and the layout of text that I wanted. I then found an outline of a dress and reduced its opacity so that I could scale my text to fit the outline of the dress. Lastly I added more detailing to the dress below the text making it fit together more and really showcase the dress formation.
