ELLEN’S CRAFTS As a people orientated person Ellen has always enjoyed demonstrating and sharing ideas. From early employment within the food industry to the present day working with people has been primary. ‘Doing things yourself’ is in the DNA from a practical family upbringing of extreme DIY to Narrow Boats, Weddings & Themed Events (to mention a few) to todays more recognized world of crafting. Practical skills combined with the ability to keep things simple makes sharing and teaching crafting a perfect scenario for her. “The real beauty of crafting is there is no right or wrong way - no restrictions in ability levels or ages - EVERYONE can craft”. That’s important to know and understand when your passing skills and information on. Its about people and that’s why Ellen is passionate about sharing her skills and knowledge. The current classes she enjoys are adding benefit to the local community - not only in terms of creativity and confidence but also financially. There is no gain here, covering costs for materials only and passing any additional financial benefit across to local charities she is close to.

PERSONAL PROFILE SO WHAT FLOATS YOUR BOAT ? The nautical world is also in the gene’s ! Ellen’s mainstream charity is the Wigan Sea Cadets where she and her husband Allan have shared active roles. (Committee details etc here) Ellen got involved with the sea cadets after becoming interested in nautical life from a Sister who was in the WRNS. Actively encouraging her Son and Daughter to participate, she recognized there was an opportunity to help young people gain confidence and working with the older generation of ex Service Personnel, bringing the two together on both public and private events. Not being hands on in open water sailing but got closest on the purchase of a Narrow Boat - drawn to the community spirit of the lifestyle. It was however soon to be replaced by the love of ‘wider travel’ ambitions it was inevitable that Ellen and Allan would fall in love with cruising. People & Travel Perfect.
