The techiniques and approches have gained The important thing is that if people can spend much time on the clone stamp tool, it gives a beautiful and clear background. As observed from work, I in effect used that tool at the pixel scale. Also, to keep the original appearance of croissant, it would be better to use lasso tool instead of adjusting the level. However, as approached the sketching step, it is surprising that the tracing paper is slippery which makes people uncomfortable in sketching, plus it hinders the way to show the light and shade contrast or to show the 3D’s feeling. For the page 3, which is the most significant gain in this module, much experiences such as how to use T-square and Set square to draw the staff in 3D thinking. Photographed Image (Elevation)

Axonometric Drawing For the axonometric drawing, which is the most significant gain in this module, much experiences such as how to use T-square and Set square to draw the staff in 3D thinking. The intersection marks help students to think from 2D sketch to 3D, and this in effect build the bridge between the draft sketching and 3D modeling.

The making of new Mario world. In general, the target is to make Mario world more like the science fiction world. Therefore, I extended the land downward to show the depth of the land, and created the gradient of the river & the land, along with the gradient colored almost every object. Also, the moon as a significant object, it in effect contribute to figure out the plane of illumination. As illustrated in the Mario world, all the objects have the same illumination. Moreover, some extra works on Photoshop have been done to build some effects to make the world more colorful: the dissolve effect on the background, and multiple effects on the river and spray. Two boats on the river have been added on the river, along with some words at the corner. As for the clouds, I used the brush to do the general shape of the cloud, and then do some transformation and adjust the opacity to make the cloud blend into the background.

Axonometric Drawing This part is deemed to a good practice for our imgagination and capability of perception. It was evident that the common parts are the cactus-shaped objects and the thick cylinders behind the cactus. Hence, commencing the drawing by completing the small hills which are the frames of Mario world, and then add the cactus and the other staffs in the middle. Only this way can ensure that the primary frame is correct and probably it is slightly different regarding the hidden space.

Inspiration It would be great if students can spend much time browsing the internet. Especially the website such as Pinterest. As long as the student did not suffer from the axonometric drawing, and can get a variety of inspiration and color beautifully for their Mario world. Therefore, as I inspired from the internet, many great sources about the color assortment were eventually coming into my brain.

Planning & Process During the process, six different variables have been created for enhancing the complexity. Also, a grid has been drawn to plan the scissor cut of the objects. The line represents the objects I have cut off, the pattern is almost the same, but the number of the hole is increasing as the column increases. What’s more, around the central part there the two times two grid out has been dragged out, I redo the networksrf and rebuild the three times three objects, trying to create a story; Spontaneously, I did make sure that the tendency can match the surroundings.

Story Firstly, it is supposed to be two cities which are the rat and swallow the city. Therefore I started creating the field by forcing myself to do the different level field, trying to separate two different worlds. Moreover, inspiration by the Roman church from the Global Foundation of design did impress the student, it is a construction with spacious room and gives me the sense of mystery.

Story & Inspiration In general, the people in the swallow city are greedy, and they find an illusion that the soul from the other side is immortal, because the life between the two cities is glamorous. Therefore, they are trying their best to reach such immortal life. It is like a human revolution; this axis represents the time dimension. The human in the swallow city gradually have the wings, and some of them can even fly as the time goes by. However, some of them dedicate themselves to this process. And the remaining who have successfully reached their goals would eventually fall into the rat city. It is disappointed for them to find that is a prison-like disciplinary society. It is impossible for them to escape from this society.

Story & Inspiration It is the first time of using the rendering softwareKeyshot. Though it takes ages for familiarizing the menu and some particular functions, it is worth noting that the rendering effect was much better than adding the texture in Photoshop. The original goal was trying different methods from other students, plus achieve the best quality and effects of my work.

Ideas To keep the consistency in both pictures, I use the similar background on the common parts, and people can find the style in two perspective views are almost the same, which are the dark and silent picture with the moonlight casting on the characters. The flame and cloud intersperse the whole picture and enhance the sense of mystery. Concerning the characters, I tried to use sculpture to freeze-frame every moment that is important during the revolution. Furthermore, from my perspective, it is essential to consider the expression of the character’s eyes. From my first perspective view, all the character look at the different directions, and this in effect reflects that the people in swallow city have the deep consideration about that they are going to do. Similarly, the expression in the second perspective also shows that they are yearning for the bright future, but I used different techniques in the second perspective, which are the people who seat on the ground are attracted by the illusion, the child who holds the swallow simplified the dream’s killer, the same as the wings above the flame. At the very corner of the second perspective, people can find many rats which are tolerating a soul, and that is the real story in the rat city.

REFLECTION There is no word for me to express myself for this impressive semester. Notably, as the first semester for an architecture student, how readily our thoughts swarm upon a new object, lifting it a little way, as ants carry a blade of straw so feverishly, and then leave it. Furthermore, the concept such as “less is more” has rooted in my brain. Regarding the modules I have completed during the whole semester, I usually make things complicated and believe only this way can achieve the highest mark. Those experiences prove that I am still a young architecture student, there is thousand miles to reach the high-level. Fortunately, I have eventually realized the secrets to reach the high-level work. Through the whole semester, I am only satisfied with module 4 which is the part I am proud of. Therefore, as can be seen, I used the most pages to illustrates the ideas and progress I have done. On the other hand, concerning the other modules, the pity was that I was too confident with the works I have done, and lack of the communication with my friends. Sometimes, it is crucial to share the concept and the way to achieve the high-level work. As old saying goes: “Involvers always get confused while outsiders can be more clearly”. For module one, it would be better to choose a more rugged croissant so that more details can be show through the pencils. For module 2, as my tutor point out that I did a great job in coloring but made some geometrical mistakes. For module 3, I focused too much on the workshop recording, and did not reach the highly creative work. This is the lesson for me because the life in university is much different than the high school. Teachers merely guide you the way to complete a fair work, but as the architecture who should realize “creativity knows no bounds”. Hence, much research and reflection shall be done by our own, renovating and updating the concept through every modules and projects.
