Hola friends, have fun celebrating Cinco de Mayo, even if you’re not Mexican and most likely don’t know why it’s a holiday (that’s why you have me) No its not Mexican Independence day! Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for “fifth of May”) is a celebration held on May 5th. Its celebrated in the US and regionally in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Dia de la Satalla de Puebla (English: the day of the battle of Puebla) Today in America the date is observed as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s unlikely victor over French forces at the battle of Puebla on May 5th 1862. Having said that, enjoy your Cinco de Drunko parties!
Easter is on Sunday, April 20th this year and if I need to fill you in on that, then you need to pick up a book once in a while! Easter for most of us is bonnets, baskets, buns (hot cross buns pigs!) and Easter egg hunts! My father loved to hide eggs (real ones not the plastic crap they have today) for us kids and his grandkids.
