...continued from page 8 “I’m really excited about it and I know we will do a fantastic job of hosting the Women’s World T20 later this year. I want to see the grounds full and I look forward to hosting the cricket world in Antigua for the final,” Sir Viv said. “Our Windies girls are the defending champions and I’m sure they will be looking forward to playing at home. I’ve seen them play and I like the way they look. Women’s cricket around the world is growing at a rapid rate and the standard is very high. We’re in for a great tournament in the West Indies.” Sir Viv also added: “Playing at home should be something special for our team. It was wonderful to see what there did in India two years ago, and I know they will want to put on a good show for the folks back at home,” Sir Viv said. The Windies team is led by allrounder Stafanie Taylor from Jamaica, rated as one of the greatest women’s players of all time. She has alongside her Denadra Dottin, who became the first woman to score a century in a T20 when the West Indies hosted the tournament back in 2010. This is the first stand-alone ICC Women’s World T20 tournament and all matches will be broadcast live to the global audience for the first time. West Indies have a good track record in the event. They won in 2016 and reached the semi-finals 2010 in the Caribbean, 2012 in Sri Lanka, and 2014 in Bangladesh.

Try To Concentrate
These Cannabis Concentrates are Serious…ly Good! What are Cannabis Concentrates? You’ve all heard about dabbing, oils, wax, vape pens, shatter, budder, hash and every other name under the sun to describe the hottest new way to smoke the sticky-icky. But do you even know what your referring too half the time? We’re gonna dive into this world of waxy concentrates and teach you a bit of the lingo so you’re prepared next time you go to rip your friends oil rig or vape pen. Let’s start with the basics, cannabis concentrates are simply concentrated forms of THC in a variety of smokable forms. There are a number of different varieties of concentrates, named normally after the substance produced by the process its made with or the process itself.
Cannabis Oil Concentrates In it’s most pure form, cannabis concentrates exist as a waxy oil, that is amber green in color, mostly depending on the strain and consistency of the substance. THC is sticky in nature, and is contained within the microscopic crystals on the buds and flowers of the plant. When isolated and heated, they become a soluble oil that looks similar to tree-sap. Once mixed with a solvent, they can be used to fill vape cartridges, or this oil can be stored in a cool place to harden and form Shatter or Wax. Other cooling processes or separation processes using things like dry ice and event water can result in a different end-product like Budder or Bubble Hash. Even Dry Hash is a concentrate, as it is simply a compacted block of dry THC crystals collected directly from the plant.

How Do You Make Concentrates? We’re not gonna go down that road in too much detail, as stoners continue to innovate when it comes to the production of cannabis concentrates. However, there are a few different extraction methods you can research like Butane Hash Oil system or a Rosin Press. Both methods result in an oily waxy substance that can then be smoked, normally using an oil rig or vape pen. Next time, we’ll start to show you the different ways to consume cannabis concentrates, and review the feelings or effects of dabbing, vaping, and even rolling rosin into your next joint.

DIY HEALTH My Fried Food Addiction By Serwa Alisa Thomas Those who know me will tell you that I have a deep and profound love with fried foods. It has developed over time into my go-to comfort food habit. Oh how I love and enjoy a good fritter and deep fried calamari rings with marinara sauce. Yes I know…I’ve been preaching and teaching to many about the importance of health and what we ingest into our bodies but we must also all be honest with ourselves and also put things into reality to the fact that I am only human and we all have things that we do to ourselves or enjoy that are definitely bad for us especially our favorite comfort food treats The term ‘comfort foods’ is used to describe foods that provides the average human being with self-consolation or a feeling of well-being typically containing high levels of sugar or carbohydrate and are usually associated with childhood and home cooking. There is also the factor that the craving of fried and oily foods can indicate that the body is actually deficient in essential fatty acids. This can be
20 JUMP MAGAZINE
solved with the help of eating more good quality fats such as nuts and avocados. Also keep in mind that some of the fried food consumed regularly has been processed. These processed foods are engineered to be ‘hyper palatable’ so that they have a very good flavor. They also contain high amounts of calories and can cause a major change in blood sugar imbalance. These are known factors that cause these food cravings but the biggest contributor of addiction to anything is your ‘brain’. Although I would have known all of this I can’t lie when I say that fried foods have mapped to the top of the list for me. It has helped me in masking my anxiety. The sound of the food in my mouth was the most satisfying thing and has been known to calm some people but has also had a completely opposite effect on others by causing disgust, rage and other negative responses. But really and truly it never solved any of my anxiety issues and just left me feeling unhealthy, slow and tired which I eventually saw as negative rather than just enjoying a few minutes of satisfaction for a lifetime of health issues. I decided at the start of the New Year that I would cut out fried food drastically from my diet and that is what I did. I started filling my craving with crunchy vegetables, fruits and other healthy snacks in the replacement of my oily loves. It was very hard at first but has now become very easy. A week into this trend I felt energized and less bloated and my skin looked even better. It will not always be easy to remove a food addiction from your life especially if you have been eating it for years and in the moment of consumption it makes you feel so happy. I will say that if we know it is bad then we should take bigger steps in finding substitutes and alternatives and maybe, just maybe, your substitutes may become your new ‘Healthy Addictions’. In closing I will say that even though something is healthy everything is always better in moderation. So even if your food addition is a healthy one never over consume. I will be posting new content each month so please ensure that you read up and stay informed and healthy. Also feel free to contact me at alithomas268@gmail. com for any questions, testimonials or anything you may find important to you in respects to DIY Health and I will ensure that I help you to the best of my ability. Sweating is Good for You By O’Jay-Maria Harris (Body By O’Jay)
I Don’t Sweat I Sparkle Sweating is healthy and cleansing... Your body expels one liter of sweat on an average day, which helps to not only cool you down but also perform a range of other vital functions. When you sweat, you breathe faster, your heart works more, your circulation improves and your metabolism accelerates, all in an effort to resume your normal body temperature. Because your circulation is increased during sweating, many of the toxins and impurities are able to exit your body by way of your open skin pores. Here’s some popular theories on the benefits of sweating: • Healthy sweating clears pores, helping the skin stay zit and pimple free • Normal sweating can help protect against germs and bacteria • Some studies suggest that sweating produced from intense exercise can reduce the risk of kidney stones Continued page 24...

JUMP MAGAZINE 23
...continued from page 23 Sweating has been discussed heavily as a tool for weight loss. The weight that you lose through sweating is water weight. This weight is quickly replaced when you replenish your fluids. However, activities that lead to sweating often burn up calories. So, sweating is a good goal to incorporate as part of a weight loss program because it means that your body is eliminating toxins and burning up calories. Just be sure to make sweating a part of a larger program of balanced nutrition and exercise for a maximum effect.

Suri’s Restaurant in Antigua By Petra Miller Suri’s Restaurant is located on the suburban border of the city of St. John’s on Friars Hill Road. It is the perfect escape on a major road between the commercial centers on Friars Hill Road and the city itself. It is an oasis of roadside eats with a chef’s flair. The menu boasts salads, kebabs, a local lunch special, specialty burgers, to the chefs fresh “from the grill” selections of steak, pulled pork and salmon meals and a host of one of a kind innovative mouth-watering nouveau cuisine. The quality of each selection on this menu far outweighs the price…it’s a steal of a deal. Our salad selection was the shrimp Caesar, which was a crispy bed of fresh lettuce tossed in house made Caesar dressing with plump perfectly sautéed shrimp. They had me at hello! I thought this was street side dining, but it was so much more… like street side gourmet! We were offered a range of natural local juices including tamarind, lemonade, cherry and beet. All fresh and delicious. I also sampled the berry smoothie which was beyond compare. Made with fresh juicy berries blended

with yoghurt, it was ambrosial to smell the sweet berries it made for a dizzying frenzy of flavors. The menu offers innovative twists on favorites. The meat and fries platter is a must-have, mountain of golden delicious fries, served with grilled chicken, strips of grilled sausage, sautéed cabbage and corn, topped with white cheddar cheese and specialty sauces. It is a mountain of joy for your taste buds and perfect for a table of friends. If you are a fan of hamburgers and hot dogs, you are going to love this place! The specialty burgers boasts a juicy perfectly grilled 8oz burger patty, but the star of the show for me is the sweet and spicy Suri burger topped with jalapeños, bacon, crispy lettuce and thick tomato slices all covered in yellow cheddar. The Hawaiian hot dogs will make you do a double take! It is topped with pineapples, all the condiments and a bag of chips. Yes, a bag of crispy light mouthwatering chips on the very top. The atmosphere is even more outstanding than the menu. The day to evening service at Suri’s presents the opportunity for young people to hang out in a fun safe environment and enjoy mouthwatering eats at an affordable price. At lunch time it is perfect to drive up and pick up your ‘gourmet on the go‘ lunch and head back to the office . Drink specials on Fridays, and a bar that closes when the last person leaves makes it perfect for a carnival bounce up spot before you fete or cool down after J’ouvert. Diverse, delightful and flavorful are some of the words that describe this small treasure on the hill. Make it a part of your summer liming plan, I would try one of everything...but not all at once!

GAMEZ E3 2018
By Dimitri Smith E3 is upon us and I am very excited! Now I’m sure you’re asking what is E3? To answer your question, E3 is short for Electronic Entertainment Expo and is an event where game developers and gaming hardware developers alike gather in one place and showcase what new video games or new video game consoles will be on the market. It was first held May 11-13, 1995 in the Los Angeles convention center where till this day it is still kept. At the first E3 the original PlayStation and the Sega Saturn were showcased! Since that year it has been a successful annual event. E3 is a great way to see what huge games are coming out and of course hardware too. You get to see live demonstrations of everything they talk about. As an added treat if you’re there you’ll be able to experience it all for yourself by even getting hands on experience on it all. If you love gaming, then going to E3 would be an amazing experience for you! E3 this year as expect was spectacular! The usual three big presentations held are by Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. They all announced new titles and I will give you a run down on a few of them. Sony announced The Last of Us II(2) which is a PlayStation excusive and it looked amazing. The Last of Us is an Action-adventure horror game that is known to be a hardcore survival game. The trailer showed
34 JUMP MAGAZINE
off the mechanics and game play and it looked great! The game is rated M for mature and no release date has been announced as yet. Here’s a link to the trailer: https://youtu.be/btmN-bWwv0A. Microsoft is extremely privileged because for the first time EVER, they are going to get the game Kingdom Hearts on their console. It is usually only on the PlayStation and now it will be on both PlayStation and Xbox. Kingdom Hearts III(3) is an action RPG that has been a long awaited title that many fans of the franchise have waited for. It’s a game set in the Disney Universe, so all intellectual properties owned by Disney can appear during this game such as characters from Pirates of the Caribbean or Frozen. The release date is January 29, 2019. Here’s a link to the gameplay trailer: https://youtu.be/yjfvXXy-I7g. Nintendo’s highlight was when they spoke about the new Super Smash Bros. titled Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It is a fighting game filled with different characters across the Nintendo universe such as Mario, Link and Samus. They did the unthinkable and brought back EVERY character ever in every smash game. So we’re talking about from the games Super Smash Bros., Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. All those characters being added into ultimate with new characters. Here’s a link to the reveal trailer showing off the characters: https://youtu.be/gNHZNnUy3yY E3 was not a let down this year at all. I personally cannot tell you who had the best conference because they all had their low and highpoints. I am excited to see and even experience some of these new titles.

SUMMER TRENDS FOR MEN: Floral Shirts Desean Thomas (Dat Moda) Florals shirts are definitely setting the tone for the summer thus far, it’s a must have in your wardrobe. However, finding the right floral shirts are a bit tricky. The key is to find a floral shirt that compliments your skin tone. This will emphasize your look. Here are some tips on how to wear. Personally, I rotate through tucked in, untucked, buttoned up and unbuttoned. The tucked in style is more for a formal or semi-formal occasion. Untucked could be worn for formal occasions also but your pants/trousers would have to set the tone, otherwise untucked would be best for casual settings.

McFIERCE STYLE: Fete Fashion By Annie McFierce Hey Fierce Fam! Welcome back to my column! đ&#x;™‚ This month we will be continuing where we left off on the topic of ‘fete fashion’. The 2018 Summer trends are nothing short of exciting and enticing: From pastels, to bright Crayola colors, stripes, textures, athleisure/ sportswear and so much more. I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with local store/boutique ‘House Of Pink’ where I picked three pieces based on the seasons trends for the summer. I hope my choices provides you with the style inspiration you need to get you started on your own fete outfits. My first look is a sizzling hot pink twopiece capri set. I paired it with a black suede chunky-heeled strappy shoes and a pair of hot pink vintage oval sunglasses. The look can be completed with a simple black clutch or ‘bum bag’, aka a fanny pack, for a sexy yet trendy look. So, who loves a good breakfast/day party?!? I sure as hell do! I picked this gorgeous two-piece wide-leg pants set because it instantly gave me tropical vybz with its colors and airy feel. This piece features a kimono top with a gathered waist that ties in the front and

can be styled separately to create more options. If that isn’t a steal, well I dunno what is. To keep with the tropical feel of this piece, I paired it with a peach bralette and pink tassel hoop earrings. Nude heels or sandals, along with your favorite lipstick are perfect to complete your look. Now you’re ready for a day of fun and flare. For my last outfit, I went with a sporty chic vybe. I am sure many of you have noticed that the sport/athleisure wear trend has been taking over the gram. I paired some khaki cargo joggers with a plain white cropped tank top, chunky gold chain choker and mesh booties to add a little sexy in the mix. To complete this look, I added an olive wide brim fedora with black trim detail. I am definitely channeling my inner ‘Indiana Jones’ with this one. Continued page 44...
