Breast Cancer Awareness Month What Is Breast Cancer? Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. A Global Burden According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, claiming the lives of hundreds of thousands of women each year and affecting countries at all levels of modernization. Good News About Breast Cancer Trends In recent years, perhaps coinciding with the decline in prescriptive hormone replacement therapy after menopause, we have seen a gradual reduction in female breast cancer incidence rates among women aged 50 and older. Death rates from breast cancer have been declining since about 1990, in part due to better screening and early detection, increased awareness, and continually improving treatment options.

Ras Mike offers a pick and mix buffet of all delicious vegetarian dishes including stewed black eyed peas, lentils, chunks, vege pasta with fresh tomato marinara, steamed mixed greens, provisions medley simmered in coconut milk, and lovely crisp veggies. Today, when the Jump crew went through, we had all three stews with the Ras’ special dumplings made of coconut, pumpkin and beet. The meals are served with natural juices. Our top two were the passion fruit and beet with ginger! If you pass through you must have the peas balls to start, they are fried to golden brown perfection and every bite is filled with a mixture of peas, fresh bell peppers and green seasoning. You can also sit on a bench and take in the sea view while you enjoy your meal!

EMBRACING FALL FASHION TRENDS IN WARMER CLIMATES!
Hey Fierce Fam, It’s officially ‘Pumpkin spice everything season’ also known as Fall! Living on an island, there is a misconception that we cannot indulge in Fall fashion trends because we do not actually experience a change in seasons. Today I will share some tips on how you can slay Fall season trends in a warm climate. I’ve broken it down into 5 categories, so let’s get to it!
COLOR One of the easiest ways to incorporate fall trends in a warmer climate is with the use of color. Try opting for darker/richer shades like burgundy, olive, mustard, brown and cognac. Simple use of these colors in your everyday wardrobe is a sure way to transition into the season. Don’t be shy to mix some of these colors with softer tones from the summer such as blush, coral, or even keeping it safe with nudes and whites. For 2018, many designers have incorporated pops of color in to their collections that include bright reds, oranges and yellows. Feel free to stay on trend by adding these vibrant tones to your closet this season.

MAKEUP Makeup is another simple way to ease into the season’s trends. Have fun playing with deeper tones of eyeshadow like burgundy or a soft brown smokey eye. If these are a little too bold for you, a simple colored liner can do the trick. Deep blues and greens will add a pop to any look. Continued page 24...

...continued from page 23 Eyeshadow not your thing? No need to worry, a bold lip always seals the deal. Try deep reds or browns like merlot, warm chestnut and chocolate brown, or spice it up with a candy apple red - any of these in a matte finish will definitely take your look up a notch. And let us not forget our ever faithful nude lippie. Although nudes are an all-year shade, it can also be classified as a fall tone as well. Whether glossy or matte, a nude lip is a no brainer!
FABRICS AND PRINTS There are definitely certain fabrics that can be associated with the fall season. Denim is a fall staple that is pretty much worn all year round, however, you can switch up your usual denim looks with fabrics like corduroy and suede. Faux leather can also be incorporated for an edgy look, while classic prints like plaid and stripes are another reoccurring option to consider. This year we’ve also seen the classic print revamped with lots of colors like red, yellow, and violet to give a modern feel.
BLAZERS AND DUSTERS Outerwear is a sure way to get in on the fall layering trend, but with temperatures in the 80’s who wants to layer clothing and melt. You can easily pull off the coat aesthetic while keeping cool with blazers and dusters. With a plethora of styles and fabrics to choose from, you can definitely find the right piece to compliment your style. Dress it down or dress it up, pair with shorts, mini skirts or dresses, they’re sure to make any outfit look a little classier and well put together. 24 JUMP MAGAZINE
ACCESSORIES As we know, accessories can make or break an outfit. It’s like the icing on cake or the garnish on a gourmet meal. It just adds that special touch. You can bring a fall feel to any outfit by adding accessories like felt hats, boots/booties, sunglasses and leather bags just to name a few. Felt Fedoras and floppy hats serve up some serious style! Whether hiding a bad hair day or adding that extra edge to an outfit, don’t sleep on them! Boots are definitely a fall staple, so feel free to sport a pair of ankle boots/booties this season. There are a variety of styles that go well with warmer climates like peep-toe and strappy boots. Pair them with shorts, mini skirts or jeans for an easy stylish transition, and opt for metallics, funky bright colors, and prints for fun vibrant looks. Sunglasses are definitely a Spring/Summer staple but has proven to be an all year accessory. Complete your looks with some of this seasons trending eyewear. From colored lenses, pointy cat eye, oversized blinged out frames, and translucent lenses, we see the retro vibe dominating for another season. Another fall accessory to incorporate is fringe. Fringe is a fun way to add texture and movement to warm weather outfits. Be bold and incorporate this trend in to your wardrobe from a wide array of options to like fringe bags/clutches, belts earrings and sandals/heels. Continued page 26...
...continued from page 25 Fall trends aren’t limited to our friends in colder climates. With a bit of creativity, you too can indulge in the seasons styles. I would love to see how you style your warm weather fall outfits. Be sure to tag me on Facebook and Instagram! Until next time! xo

Summer Time
ALL YEAR ROUND One of the many benefits of living in the Caribbean is the all year round weather. Although these trendy fits were a big hit this summer, it works just as well here in the heart of the Caribbean. Heres how I crafted my look. A crisp white t-shirt never fails, neatly tucked into my pants for a formal or casual look. Moreover, I thought it would be nice to mix it up a bit, you rarely see a short-sleeve shirt tucked into shorts. However, the uncommon is what we live for in fashion. One key thing to note when tucking in, is to give a slight bulge not completely over the belt but enough to loosen your shirt. For shoes, my go to is vans, it’s the end all be all for any occasion.
