M3 - HOLD A hole was kept at the top of the dome which allows light to be casted to the ground. It highlights presenter and let visitors focus on the presenter.

The dome intersects with the ground and forms a parametric bench. Different distance between slices of each piece of the bench breaks the space and defines personal distance.

The wooden fabrication was inspired by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban’s recent project - the Swatch New HQ. Timber used as fabrication material is more eco-friendly and the light weight could ease the atmosphere inside. With moderate thermal mass, it helps to adjust the internal space’s temperature as the site has more than 90 hours of sunlight in typical summer week.

No fixed position for presenter, presenter’s deck is highlighted by the light from the hole of the dome. It provides versatility for the seminar as the character of participants changes as the seminar goes.

Landscape was manipulated and it is lifted here. It blocks part of visual continuity from the outside public space but meanwhile maintain part of activities inside the pavilion visible. Moreover, the height is high enough to provide people with extra sitting space.

Functioned as additional sitting space for people to occupy when events like concert.

M3 - HOLD Iteration 2 Considering using a more light-weighted method to fabricate the skin. The skin is lofted by those curves which is parametrized in grasshopper.

Iteration 1 Original concept comes from the Taksim Pavilion where provides space on different levels to hold both exhibition and presentations. Combined with my own design concept, I created something Iteration 3 weird. Moreover, the site boundary After the fabrication, I used is limited. Therefore, I took my lunchbox to create polygon panels concept inherited from this on the surface and then offset them iteration two the second iteration. to create cellular like holes on the panel.

Iteration 4 I started to design the interior installments with parameters. I extracted the bottom line of the panel and create a marble base which not only support the fabrication but also create sitting space .

Iteration 5 Fabrication is extended to touch the landscape in this iteration.

Iteration 6 Adjustment on the fabrication and a parametric bench was created on the farication.
