M3 - HOLD A hole was kept at the top of the dome which allows light to be casted to the ground. It highlights presenter and let visitors focus on the presenter.
The dome intersects with the ground and forms a parametric bench. Different distance between slices of each piece of the bench breaks the space and defines personal distance.
The wooden fabrication was inspired by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban’s recent project - the Swatch New HQ. Timber used as fabrication material is more eco-friendly and the light weight could ease the atmosphere inside. With moderate thermal mass, it helps to adjust the internal space’s temperature as the site has more than 90 hours of sunlight in typical summer week.
