Scott Wilfong Chairman and CEO, SunTrust Bank, Greater Washington/Maryland (Retired) J. Scott Wilfong is retired Chairman and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Greater Washington/Maryland, which is comprised of the District of Columbia, Maryland and Northern Virginia and operates a network of over 260 offices. A 43-year veteran of the banking industry, Scott previously served as President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Atlanta and President and CEO of SunTrust Bank, Maryland. Prior to joining a SunTrust predecessor in 1997, he was senior vice president and commercial division manager at First National Bank of Maryland. Scott currently serves as a board member of Catholic Charities, Consortium of Catholic Academies, Greater Baltimore Committee, Greater Washington Board of Trade (Executive Committee and Chair 2013), Greater Washington, D.C. Police Foundation, HEROES, Living Classrooms Foundation (2014 Chair), Maryland Bankers Association and Mount St. Mary’s University. He has served as the chair for the Maryland Bankers Association, Inc, and served on the boards of the American Bankers Association, Baltimore Development Corporation, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond – Baltimore Branch, George Mason University Foundation, Mercy Health Services, Inc., and Loyola College’s Sellinger School of Business & Management, Operation Hope, Inc., Smithsonian National Zoo, and Virginia Early Childhood Foundation. Scott is a graduate of the Greater Baltimore Committee’s Leadership Program and the Maryland State Leadership Program. He was named 2001 Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals for the State of Maryland and 2009 CEO Business Philanthropic Award by the Washington Business Journal. A Baltimore native, Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Mount St. Mary’s University and an MBA from Loyola College.
