It is a potent symbol of the idea that while something may appear raw on the outside, the potential for greatness lies just below the surface. THE JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT FINANCE PARK EXPERIENCE
13,000 The number of Fairfax County 8th graders who experience the innovative, hands-on learning environment of Junior Achievement Finance Park in Fairfax.
Three weeks of classroom curriculum, taught by the students’ teachers, will provide the building blocks of personal finance education.
Students will put their newly-learned skills to the test when they leave behind their lives as eighth graders and become adults with careers, families, salaries, and financial obligations in the digital, innovative, hands-on environment of Finance Park.
Finance Park graduates will make decisions on buying a home, purchasing and maintaining a vehicle, budgeting for student loans and health care expenses, and choosing child care, among others.
90 percent of Finance Park graduates report that they felt significantly more confident in their ability to make the right choices in life after participating in the program.

Junior Achievement believes in the boundless potential of every young person and in inspiring the next generation to harness the vision to excel and navigate their path to success in the modern economy. At Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, we believe that to truly inspire the region’s young people we must build a bridge from the classroom to the future. We also believe that any path to success is paved by a sound foundation of financial literacy, meaningful workplace experiences, entrepreneurial skills and real role models who can show kids how to harness the vision to excel. We need YOU to be that role model at Finance Park.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Attend one 60 minute training session on the day of your scheduled Finance Park visit.
The total time commitment is approximately 5 hours, including the training.
If you are unable to attend a training session on the morning of your volunteer experience, there are also evening trainings available. Please contact Finance Park staff at (703) 426-1562 for more information.
The day of your visit, you will need to arrive at Finance Park 30 minutes prior to the program start time if you have received evening training. If you are training the morning of the visit, you will need to arrive one hour in advance of the program start time.
