THE HAZE
BY KATHERINE
If you are wondering what haze is or where haze is coming from, you should read this article on haze! The forest fires, mostly in Indonesia, started haze. The farmers are burning their crops because it would take too long to dig out, and they do not have enough money to buy a tractor to till the dirt. So, instead they burn the crops. When they burn the crops, it creates the haze. And the haze comes to Singapore and that’s why we have haze. When the haze comes to Singapore, we have to wear masks because it is bad for you to breathe in the smoke. If you don’t like haze, I would recommend you use things that don’t have palm oil. Maybe you could also raise money to donate to Indonesia to help them buy a tractor. This way, they don’t have to burn the crops and we won’t have haze.
HOMEMADE CARAMEL POPS
BY MAXINE
You like caramel? You want to make some for you and your family? Then this is a recipe for you. This is probably the easiest recipe ever! And it is so yummy. It takes about five minutes for ten people and I call them caramel pops! I know you must be going YEE by now. But this is going to get better; It only uses one can of condensed milk. You might want to do this with a friend because your arm can get quite tired, it also can get boring and everything is always better with friends. The Caramel Pop Recipe One can of condensed milk A frying pan First you pour the can of condensed milk on to the frying pan. Next (when boiling) stir every 30 seconds. After 4 minutes scrape onto a plate. Finally mold the caramel onto sticks.
SPACE
BY LYNDON
Space is a very cold place. That’s why astronauts have space suits. They need them to breath so they don’t die of course! Space ships cost about $2,000,000,000 and the space suit costs $10,000,000! So astronauts get the money through lawyers, if they agree to hand over the money! Even if the lawyers give them the cash, it’s no walk in the park to get to space. There are like a bazillion tests! There are a many requirements like having 20/20 eyesight, and many more! If you want to be an astronaut you MUST like math! Not too long ago NASA found water on Mars! So scientists are currently looking for life on Mars. Scientists also believe that Europa (one of Jupiter's moon) is made completely out of water! It took scientists 9 long years (2006-2015) to get a space ship (smaller and without people) to reach Pluto! Saturn's rings are made of ice, rocks and gas! Super Nova’s are Stars that have blown up from being too old! If you try talking, NOTHING will happen since there is no air in space.

THE LONELY GIRL
BY LISA
Chapter 1 Tatata. Kids were running in the hallway. Maya turned her head and saw four boys running into their classrooms. It was the first day of school for Maya. She didn’t see any friends, and no one was familiar . She was scared and didn’t know anyone. Maya looked around the classroom. “Welcome to my class"! said the teacher. Maya said "I feel nervous". The teacher said "Boys and girls please meet your new classmate. Maya will you introduce yourself to your classmates?" "Hello my name is Maya" she whispered. Then it was time for recess. Maya was sad because she didnt have any friends to play with at recess. She went to her teacher and just as Maya was about to speak, a girl came up to them. “You can play with Kelly,” said the teacher. Maya whispered "OK,” and together they walked away. "I have seen you before," said Maya to Kelly. Kelly laughed. "Are you the girl that my brother and I played with at the swimming pool the other day? We had a swimming race!” Maya giggled as she said yes. Time passed quickly after and it was time to go home. Kelly told her mom about meeting Maya. HENRY AND HIS SPELLING

BOOK REVIEWS Stuart Little by E. B. White REVIEWED BY BENJAMIN
You should totally read Stuart Little! The book is about the adventures of a mouse! The story is about how Stuart has to live with a cat called Snowbell who is very sneaky and loves to eat mice. Stuart has to learn how to avoid dogs and cats and anything bigger than he is. My most favorite parts of the book is when Stuart helps his mother fish out her ring that had dropped into the drain although Stuart had to deal with some nasty rats. This part makes me think about courage and acts of love. Another part that I like about the story is when Stuart is asked to sail on a toy boat so that he could help the owner win a competition. Stuart was nearly drowned by a paper bag but he survived and won the competition. This part was full of drama and suspense. You will not believe how good the book is! The book is captivating and enchanting and really witty and the book also makes me have a warm feeling in my heart!
Sisters by Raina Telgemeier REVIEWED BY ELLA
The sisters is a great book because it's all about trust and honesty.I really like the book and I recommend it to readers at all levels. If you don’t like it and think that it isn’t good then send us an email about it. If you haven’t read it you should purchase it from the library or an online website. Its the best book I have ever read! I REALLY RECOMMEND IT.
MOVIE REVIEW Jurassic World REVIEWED BY BENJAMIN You should totally watch Jurassic World! This could be a continuation from Jurassic Park or it could be the last movie. This movie is about Jurassic World which is amusement park that has many tech stuff and dinosaurs. Gray and his brother are going to their aunt home to stay, she is the director of the Jurassic World. The movie is about how Gray and his older brother are on the run against dinosaurs and could easily die! The movie is about how Gray and his brother run with a Tyrannosaurus Rex at their heels, with other dinosaurs blocking their way. One of my favourite parts is when Gray and his brother are against all the dinosaurs including the hybrid that was made by the scientists and is part an unknown species and part Tyrannosaurus Rex, but the director of Jurassic World does not know that the hybrid is part something else, so when they take the same type of species to talk to the hybrid they unexpectedly attack the humans. That part is terrifying! One of my highlights is when the Pterodactyl attacks the humans and pick them up and then they drop the humans onto the ground so that they get hurt. That part was petrifying as Gray nearly got picked up by the Pterodactyl and was going to be dropped and could die! That part reminds me about how my sister used to pick me up and pretend to drop me and then she would put me down gently! There are so many reasons why to watch this amazing movie! You should totally watch the movie on Netflix! The movie is so entertaining and makes you heart skip a beat as you watch some of the parts in the movie!

THE DRAGON KING
BY CATHERINE
The rain poured down like an anvil in a plastic shopping bag. My name is Yvelne- I’m a cat. I was waiting for my friends- Bloodrayne, Cursedflame, and Ragnarok. AKA Rainy, Fire, and Rock. I was black, Rainy was blood red, Fire was black and red, Rock was a weird gray one. They’d sound like Cerberus cats, but they were actually sweet. Rainy once saved a bunch of orphan kittens from a flood. Fire scared off a bear to protect a nest of birds. Rock gave a warning that saved all of Greece. I saved Herakles from some savages. Everyone called us “Hades’ Felines” because we were always unnoticed. Enough about us, back to my TAIL. I saw a blood-colored blob coming towards me. Fire and Rock were hard to see. It took them a while to get to the top of the hill I was on. Bloodrayne was first on top. “Hi, Vel!” She sang. “We got the sticks and coal! Now, what were they for?” “We’re building a house.” I yelled over the lightning. “I’m tired of going village to village. This is a nice field. Farmers don’t stay more than a week in that farm, so we’ll have plenty of time to gather food. Now, come on. Rainy, you and me will dig out the hill and put up the sticks. Rock and Fire will set up the fire.” It took hours and hours of labor, but we got the hill set up and the fire a-going. Of course, the rain stopped after we were done. Fire said a lot of words that I can’t say. Rainy fainted, Rock was sitting with a blank expression, I covered my ears. I dragged the two that weren’t swearing into the house and covered the hole with a rock. It took a few days for Fire to calm down. As soon as he calmed down, we roped him down with a few vines and found his weak spot. Rainy pinched the back of his neck and he fainted.“Well,” She smirked. “This is going to be a very helpful ability in the future. Vel, am I sitting in a beam of light?” I shook my head. Rock sighed. “This moment is going to be the happiest of my life,” He mewed. “Next to the time Ragnarok ended. It may be my name, but I still hated it. The blood, yelling, gore, *shudders*. Let’s go to sleep.” We did. I had the weirdest dream. A tall, dark man dressed in regal black robes walked up to me… Was that Hades?

VANILLA CUPCAKES
CONTRIBUTED BY CAITLYN
Ingredients Cupcakes: 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened 2 cups sugar 4 large eggs, at room temperature 1 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 (1/2 cup-12 capacity) muffin tins with cupcake papers. In a small bowl, combine the flours. Set aside. In a large bowl, on the medium speed of an electric mixer, cream the butter until smooth. Add the sugar gradually and beat until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the dry ingredients in 3 parts, alternating with the milk and vanilla. With each addition, beat until the ingredients are incorporated but do not over beat. Using a rubber spatula, scrape down the batter in the bowl to make sure the ingredients are well blended. Carefully spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling them about 3/4 full. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted into the center of the cupcake comes out clean. Cool the cupcakes in tins for 15 minutes. Remove from the tins and cool completely on a wire rack before icing. Vanilla Buttercream: The vanilla buttercream we use at the bakery is technically not a buttercream but actually an old-fashioned confectioners' sugar and butter frosting. Be sure to beat the icing for the amount of time called for in the recipe to achieve the desired creamy texture. 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened 6 to 8 cups confectioners' sugar 1/2 cup milk 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Place the butter in a large mixing bowl. Add 4 cups of the sugar and then the milk and vanilla. On the medium speed of an electric mixer, beat until smooth and creamy, about 3 to 5 minutes. Gradually add the remaining sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition (about 2 minutes), until the icing is thick enough to be of good spreading consistency. You may not need to add all of the sugar. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring and mix thoroughly. (Use and store the icing at room temperature because icing will set if chilled.) Icing can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

FINDING FRIENDS
BY BETTY
One day, there was a new kid in school. Her name was Hela. She was kind and always happy. But she didn't have any friends. She met a teacher she thought she met before and said “ Hello,” ”Hello,”the teacher said. She was bored and had a boring breakfast because she had no one to talk to or play with on the playground. At lunchtime, she sat alone. She thought she was supposed to make friends. Even though she didn’t want to sit with others, but she knew she had to. When it was music time, she walked into the room and no one was there. She sat in the circle on the carpet and she waited and waited and waited. Finally she saw a lot of kids come who did the same as she did. The next day she had dance class. Hela had a really nice dance teacher. In that lesson she meet a girl named Maya. “Can you be my friend?” asked Hela. “Ok” answered Maya. “What is your name?” whispered Hela. “My name is Maya,” Maya whispered back. “I love how you dance,” said Hela to Maya. “Thank you” answered Maya and they danced together. “I am so happy that you made a friend. Maya is a good friend. I wish you two will be good friends just like Ivy and Bean” said the teacher After dance practice was over, Hela was as excited as a jumping monkey because she made a friend. “Let's be friends forever!” shouted Hela. “ I think that’s a great idea!” Maya yelled back. From now on Maya and Hela were friends. “ WE ARE BFFs!” they exclaimed together. Hela whispered to Maya “ You really showed me how important friendship is. Thank you.” “Let's go shopping together.” grinned Maya. “Ok” said Hela. From now on they did everything together and even had the same shoes. They lived happily ever after.
