He answered, ‘‘Huh, I’m shopping.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Duh, Crystal.’’ They both began to laugh.
He asked, ‘‘Are you alone, tonight?’’ She wanted to pretend not to be charmed by his good looks. she would crack a smile once in a while. She said, ‘‘Yeah, I’m alone. Why do you ask?’’
Brock said, ‘‘I’m just wondering if you’d like to watch a movie or go to eat?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Yeah, that sounds good.’’
She asked, ‘‘What movie would like to see?’’
He said, ‘‘Transformers. How about you?’’
She said, ‘‘How about, Love Actually?’’
Brock didn’t want to watch that one. Since he didn’t want to seem like a selfish jerk.
He said, ‘‘Okay, we can see that one.’’
They continued shopping, after ten minutes, they left Walmart, and walked their own vehicle.
Brock asked, ‘‘Where do you live? You haven’t told me where you live.’’ Crystal gave her address to him.
He said, ‘‘Well, I’m dropped this off at my parents’ house. Then I’m going to drop this movie at my brother’s house, and then I’ll go to your place.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Ok, see you there.’’
He said, ‘‘See you in a bit Professor Davis.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Call me Crystal.’’ And she gave him a flirtatious smile. They got in their own vehicle, as soon as she got in her vehicle and turn it on. ‘‘Why can’t I’’ by Liz Phair came out. She smiled when she heard it, she turn it up, and she sang it with passion.
After ten minutes, she got food ready. While Brock dropped off the stuff at his mom’s, then his brother’s house.
Brock finally went Crystal’s house. He knocked at the door, Crystal opened the door, and Brock looked at her green eyes and smiled.
She smiled said, ‘‘Come on in, Brock.’’ Brock went inside of house.
Crystal said, ‘‘Make yourself at home. The living room is on your left.’’ Brock said, ‘‘Nice house.’’ Crystal said, ‘‘Thanks.’’
Brock went and sat down the couch, while Crystal got the popcorn.
Crystal asked, ‘‘What do you want to drink?’’ in a loud voice.
Brock said, ‘‘Coke. If you have some. If not, tea.’’ She grabbed a coke for him and water for her. All the while, she was saying, ‘‘Act tough. Don’t seem desperate.’’ She finally came with the popcorn and the drinks. She subconsciously sat down right next to him and put the movie.
Brock said, ‘‘Hey, I never found out your age.’’
She said, ‘‘I’m thirty.’’
Brock said, ‘‘I’m twenty one.’’ The movie finished, Brock asked, ‘‘How would you feel if your exboyfriend came and knock at the door, right now?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘I’d throw you at him. I moved on with my life.’’ She couldn’t stop staring at his eyes. He got a look that’s so powerful, so masculine. Brock asked, ‘‘So, you wouldn’t think it would be romantic?’’ Crystal said, ‘‘No.’’ using a cuss word before ‘‘no’’ She immediately felt awkward when she said that cuss word.
Brock said, ‘‘Please don’t use that language around me.’’ Crystal said, ‘‘Sorry.’’ Brock asked, ‘‘Why was it romantic when, Kiera Knightley’s character opens the door to her ex-boyfriend? What if it was her fiancé who opened the door? What
would’ve happened?’’ Crystal couldn’t answer the question. Until she finally said, ‘‘You’re right, Brock. I’ve never thought of that.’’
Just to see what would Crystal says, he asked,
‘‘Whatever happened to the woman that you were going to set me up with?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Well, she… had.. to, to move to a different….. um, state, for, uh, work. And she……….. uhh, couldn’t make it. But there’s another woman that I know.’’ Brock knew she was making things up.
He asked, ‘‘Is there any chance the first woman has green eyes?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Maybe.’’ He asked, ‘‘Is she blonde?’’ Crystal’s heart was beating in an above average rate. She knew that he was talking about her.
Brock said, ‘‘I understand when women tries to be strong and independent. But, there’s a difference between of being weak and admitting she’s attracting to a guy.’’ Crystal smiled and looked away. She asked, ‘‘How did you find that your, girl.’’ She cleared throat. ‘‘Was to ‘‘friendly’’ with your… or a teacher?’’ He said, ‘‘I notice that they would spend a lot of time him. She would flirt with him, all of that. I
caught him about to have his way with her.’’
Then he said, ‘‘Holy crap, I’m a prophet.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Can you explain how you’re a ‘‘prophet.’’
He said, ‘‘Earlier in the year, I said, ‘‘You know what’s stupid about movies. In the movie, Along Came Polly, when Ben Stiller’s character finds Claude having his way with Ben’s wife. Claude says, ‘‘It’s not what it looks like.’’ That’s the samething what to me.’’
Crystal asked, ‘‘So, they actually did it?’’
Brock said, ‘‘No, they were about to do it..’’
Crystal said, ‘‘I have a question for you.’’ Brock said, ‘‘Ask.’’ Crystal asked, ‘‘Are you a virgin?’’ He said, ‘‘No, I’m not.’’
She said, ‘‘So, you gave her your virginity, huh?’’
He said, ‘‘Yup.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘So you loved her that much.’’
He said, ‘‘Yup.’’ She said, ‘‘I should’ve been there to make jealous. Just kidding’’ smiling afterwards. Time went by, it was time for Brock to go. Crystal walked Brock to the door.
He opened the door, he stood at the entrance of the door, turned to stare at her. They couldn’t stop staring and smiling at each other for a few minutes. He said, ‘‘See you Monday.’’ He started to walk away, then he asked, ‘‘Hey, do you want to go to church tomorrow?’’ She said, ‘‘Okay.’’ He gave her the address. Then he left. She closed the door. She rested her back on the door. She looked towards the ceiling, a smile slowly formed on her mouth. Then she put the song, ‘‘Why Can’t I’’ and she started dancing. She danced horribly, but she danced her heart out.
