Crystal said, ‘‘Busy.’’ Alyssa asked, ‘‘Doing what?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Just busy.’’ They began walking towards Alyssa’s class. Alyssa said, ‘‘Haven’t seen the professor.’’ Crystal ask, ‘‘What professor?’’
Alyssa said, ‘‘Y’know, the handsome one. The one who you were talking to the other day, at the cafeteria and ’’
Crystal, ‘‘Oh, him.’’ Then
Crystal asked, ‘‘Who said he was a professor?’’ she added, ‘‘Maybe he’s a student.’’ Alyssa asked, ‘‘You’re tutoring him then?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘He’s super intelligent.’’ Alyssa said, ‘‘Wait, didn’t you say he was speaking to you about apartment stuff?’’
Crystal began to stutter as they entered into Alyssa’s class. Alyssa opened her mouth, opened her eyes wide, and gasped.
Alyssa said, ‘‘You’re lying, you’re falling for him.’’ Crystal scoffs and said, ‘‘Maybe you’re into him that way, I’m not.’’
Alyssa said, ‘‘Okay, maybe I’ll invited into the ‘‘Alyssa train.’’
Crystal said, in a strong voice. ‘‘You better not touch my boy….’’ Then she realized she was going to say, ‘‘boyfriend’’ she cussed.
Alyssa said, ‘‘See, you are falling for him.’’ Then she said, ‘‘Crystal and Brock sitting in a tree.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Oh grow up.’’ In a playful voice. Crystal’s first class was going to start.
Brock went to college just to work-out. Brock finished his two hour work-out, took a shower, and went to eat breakfast. He finished eating, he threw his trash away, and walked to his car. He came across Crystal, she saw him and asked, ‘‘Hey Brock, what are you doing?’’ Trying hard that the word ‘‘babe’’ wouldn’t come out. He said, ‘‘Just here working out. Heading back to my place.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Oh, ok.’’
He asked, ‘‘Are you coming to church again this Sunday?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Yeah, I really liked it.’’
Brock said, ‘‘Now if only I could convince your friend. Huh.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘I think you convince her already. She just doesn’t want for it be true.’’
Brock said, ‘‘Well, I’m going to keep trying to tell her and keep on praying to GOD to touch her heart.’’ She said, ‘‘Hopefully HE does.’’ She added, ‘‘Hey, I don’t have a class for another hour or so. Want to go for an ice cream or something?’’
He said, ‘‘Okay, I’ll meet you there.’’
She asked, ‘‘Well can I go with you in your car?’’
He replied, ‘‘Sure, why not.’’ They got into his car and drove to sonic.
While they were driving, Brock asked, ‘‘Can I ask something?’’ Crystal said, ‘‘You already did.’’ Then she chuckled and said, ‘‘I’m just playing, Brock.’’ She tapped his shoulder.
He asked, ‘‘How old are you?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Thirty years old.’’ Then she asked, ‘‘And you, how old are you?’’ Brock said, ‘‘I’m twenty one.’’ She said, ‘‘You’re into dating women older than you.’’
He said, ‘‘Only if I like her as a woman.’’ Both of them didn’t want to seem desperate and admit it first.
After ten minutes of driving they got to Sonic, they got off and they ordered. They sat in a bench, they sat across each other. She asked, ‘‘Am I not going to heaven if I use toe nail polish?’’
Brock replied, ‘‘Well, I don’t know. I’m not GOD to say, who’s going to heaven or hell.’’ She asked, ‘‘Are you sure you’re not saying that just because you like how my feet look?’’ Brock said, ‘‘No, no, no.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Come on, Brock. Just admit it.’’ Brock said, ‘‘Okay, let’s say you become a CHRISTian and you serve GOD with all your heart. You stay away all that is evil and dark. Yet, GOD condemns you just because you paint your toes. Then I’m going to hell, as well as my family, and all the people that serve GOD and tries to stay away from evil. Because everyone does things they’re not supposed to do.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘I’m only asking because, I felt awkward on Sunday.’’
Brock said, ‘‘You were just a visitor. They understand, now, if
you feel convicted? Then stop wearing nail polish.’’
A few seconds later, he said, ‘‘Yes, I do like how your feet look.’’
They finally got their ice cream, Brock was going to pay, then Crystal said, ‘‘No, I’ll pay.’’ Brock asked, ‘‘Are you sure?’’ Crystal said, ‘‘Yeah. I’m sure.’’ She paid, and got her ice cream, she gave Brock his ice cream. Brock asked, ‘‘You don’t like depending on a man, huh?’’ She said, ‘‘Nope.’’ Taking a spoon full of her ice cream. He asked, ‘‘Are you feminist? She said, ‘‘Alyssa says I am.’’ He thought, ‘‘That’s why she won’t
admit that she’s into me. She waiting for me to make a move.’’
He asked, ‘‘How tall are you?’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Five nine.’’ She asked, ‘‘And you? How tall are you?’’
He said, ‘‘Six three.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘By the way, how much can you bench?’’
He said, ‘‘Alot.’’
She said, ‘‘Okay. Don’t tell me then. I’ll figure it out myself.’’ In a playful manner.
Crystal asked, ‘‘Were in sports in high school?’’
He said, ‘‘Wrestling, but Olympic wrestling, not WWE fake type.’’
Crystal said, ‘‘Yeah, I know Brock.’’ In a sarcastic voice. They finished their ice cream. They went to the park, talked for hours and hours, and Crystal would tease Brock. Until finally they realize it was getting late, they drove back to get his car.
As he was getting off of the vehicle, Crystal said, ‘‘Bye’’
He said bye back. He closed the door, and walked to his car. They both drove to their own places.
While Crystal was driving, the song, ‘‘Why Can’t I’’ played. Then the song, ‘‘Pieces Of Me’’ by Ashlee Simpson. As she drove home, she couldn’t stop smiling.
