TOUCH
THE SENSES SIGHT TASTE
HEARING
They send a message through the nerveus system to our brain so we know what is happening around us and can respond
SMELL
ORGANS SKIN
EYES
TONGUE EARS
NOSE
Is the organ of sight They are the organs of hearing
Is the organ of touch
Is the organ of smell
Is the organ of taste
EYES
They are protected by our EYEBROWS,EYELASHES and EYELIDS.They stop sweat and dust getting into our eyes.
PARTS IRIS A big coloured circle at the front of the eye
PUPIL RETINA
A black circle in the middle of the iris.Light enters through it and it makes an image
It's at the back of the eye.The retina sends information to our brain, and we can see.
EARS Outer ear
Inner ear Middle ear
It's the part that is visible
There is the eardrum and three small bones
HOW DO WE HEAR? Sounds enter the outer ear and go into the middle ear.The eardrum vibrates and these vibrations travel along the three small bones to the cochlea. In the cochlea, the vibrations are turned into signals and nerves carry these signals to our brain.
NOSE TONGUE There are good and bad smells.Air enters the nose through two hole called the NOSTRILS.This air goes to the olfactory nerve and it detects smells in the air and sends this information to our brain.
It's covered in many taste buds. They identify different tastes.Nerves send information about the different tastes to our brain. These tastes can be: sweet, salty, bitter and sour
SKIN The skin on our fingertips is very sensitive. It can tell us if something is soft or hard, hot or cold, rough or smooth.Nerves send this information to our brain.
THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
It controls everything we do.The most important part of the nervous system is our brain. The brain is the organ inside our head.It sends information to different parts of our body through the nerves. It also receives information from our five senses through the nerves.
