The team includes sports medicine doctors, sports orthopaedic surgeons, sports physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches, sports podiatrists and sports dietitians. • Using a holistic approach with evidence-based best practices and treatments, the team promotes healthy, active exercising/sporting lifestyles while optimising recovery from injury/illness and return to exercise/sports in a safe, realistic and timely manner.

Sports medicine Our sports medicine doctors and sports orthopaedic surgeons are sportstrained professionals, who are skilled in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention strategies of exercise/sports-related injuries/illnesses, including injuries to joints, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, muscles and bones. Using the latest scientific evidence-based best practices and treatments, including ESWT and PRP therapy, we help our patients optimise recovery from injury in a supportive, understanding and healing environment. Our sports medicine services include: • Sports medicine consultations including the football medicine clinic for all levels of football • Pre-participation exercise/sports screening including the FIFA pre-competition medical assessment (PCMA) • Bedside diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging and ultrasoundguided injection procedures • Ultrasound-guided focused and radial Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) for degeneration of the plantar fascia, Achilles tendon and patellar tendon • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for tennis elbow
Sports orthopaedic surgery When surgery is required as part of the overall management of an exercise/ sports-related injury, our sports surgeons offer a comprehensive range of surgical options including: • Arthroscopic (“key-hole”) surgery for knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and wrist joint injuries/conditions • Ligament surgery including knee, ankle and elbow ligament reconstruction • Stabilisation for shoulder and patellar (“knee cap”) instability and dislocations • Minimally-invasive tendon surgery, for chronic tendon injuries involving the knee, ankle and foot joints, Achilles tendon, tennis and golfer’s elbows • Surgery for bone, joint and cartilage injuries including cartilage repair techniques

Sports physiotherapy Our in-house sports physiotherapists are specially skilled to rehabilitate an injured person to return to optimal activity in a safe and timely manner. They manage a wide variety of injuries, ranging from mild to severe conditions. Early assessment and rehabilitation can help promote an earlier return to activity. Our sports physiotherapy programmes are also designed to reduce the risk of injury during training or competition. Our services include: • Assessment and treatment of exercise/sports-related musculoskeletal injuries • Comprehensive range of modalities to help to improve pain and facilitate healing of injuries • Inhouse, real-time ultrasound assessment of core stability muscles • lsokinetic dynamometer strength testing and training with specialised, computer-assisted equipment • Pre-operative and post-operative assessment and rehabilitation • Reinforcement of advice on injury prevention and management • Therapeutic rehabilitation classes including knee, ankle, shoulder, core training and clinical pilates classes
Strength and conditioning Our strength and conditioning team aims to help exercising individuals and sportspersons practice active, healthy lifestyles, prevent injury, recover from injury and to return to their optimal activity level safely. Our services include: • Sports-specific, individualised training programmes to ensure correct exercise techniques • Training programmes for injury prevention and optimisation of strength, power, speed, agility, flexibility, balance and core stability
Sports nutrition Our sports dietitians tailor nutrition plans to meet the specific needs and goals of both recreational and competitive sportspersons. These may range from the growing adolescent to an active senior, including the specific needs of a female sportsperson. Sports nutrition aims to optimise sports performances and reduce the risk of injury/illness during training and competition. Customised nutrition plans include enabling individuals to: • Choose the best fluid for a chosen exercise/sport and to stay well-hydrated • Eat and drink in a balanced and healthy manner to optimise overall growth and general health including bone/joint health and muscle development • Eat and drink appropriately while travelling, especially for sports competitions • Eat and drink optimally before, during and after exercise/sports • Maintain appropriate body fat levels • Optimise energy levels for a chosen exercise/sport
Musculoskeletal Podiatry Our in-house podiatrists specialise in the assessment and management of injuries and conditions associated with the foot and lower limb. Musculoskeletal podiatry focuses on the foot and lower limb during exercise to prevent injuries and optimise performance. Our Podiatrists work closely with the rest of the exercise and sports multi-disciplinary team to identify biomechanical concerns and to promote effective, efficient lower limb function. Our Podiatry services include: • Biomechanical and gait assessment • Individualised foot care treatment and management • Orthotic and insole management • Advice on footwear and injury prevention
