A LETTER FROM BRUCE NELSON OUR HOA PRESIDENT Happy Holidays Sawmill I wanted to thank everyone who attended our first ever Town Hall Meeting in November. I was happy with our turnout and moving forward I will try and hold these meetings quarterly.
new Shareholders and Residents, we welcome you to LIVING THE DREAM in the most unique and best gay campground in America. We need to embrace this momentum moving forward to grow and make Sawmill the best Gay Community in the country.
December is upon us and the Holidays are here! I’m enjoying all the holiday decorations being put up around the park by our residents. While the decorations look great for all of us that live here its also a great way to show our guests the Sawmill Holiday Community Spirit. Our Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony show was fantastic and fun was had by all. I want to thank Justin for putting together an outstanding evening and a HUGE Thank You to Jorge, Fred, Les and Dennis for all their hard work on the stage and lighting setup. I had a hard time believing that we were in Dade City and not New York City, it was so Beautiful.
I’d like to congratulate Jill as the Board has promoted her to General Manager. I am asking you all to welcome Jill into her new position and hope you will all stand behind her and be part of her continued success. Our success starts with us all so lets come together and make 2018 Sawmills best year yet. “WE ARE SAWMILL” AND “WE ARE LIVING THE DREAM”.
In a short time 2018 will be upon us. I think this coming year will be Sawmills best year yet. We are already seeing homes sales going for record numbers and in record times. To all the

A LETTER FROM RICK HOWELL OUR NEW VICE PRESIDENT
The past ten years have given me many opportunities to visit and come to know Sawmill. After spending a year camping on Grape Circle in my fifth wheel, I purchased Coffee Tom’s old place on Lot 797 and began renovations. Now, a year later, my place in Sawmill has become a comfortable home. But Sawmill means much more to me than a comfortable place to stay. It is a community. I have met so many people whom I can now call my friends. Seeing their smiles and happiness warms my heart and lets me know that I am a part of this community. I have only a short drive from Tampa to Trilby and enjoy making the trip often. Being elected to the Board by the Sawmill community is something that I very much appreciate. And the Board’s selection of me to serve as Vice President is a huge honor. I humbly accept the challenge. Life takes us all in different directions. I have seen some of my friends make the move from Sawmill for various reasons. I am saddened to see Richard Quick resign as President and move to another state. Rich and Vincent’s presence is already missed. I am further saddened that Jimmy Nichols has left the board after three terms as Treasurer. I will miss the fun and
camaraderie of Friday night martinis at Sawmill with Jimmy, Howard and Trevor. But life goes on. It is a natural occurrence for the Board to change and for people to shift priorities and destinations as life events unfold. The Board we now have in place is heading in a positive direction. We face tasks along the road ahead, but together we are up to the challenge. As we move into the holiday season, I know I speak for all of the Board in wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Vice President BOARD OF DIRECTIONS

3 CUPS SET POTATOES ( I am currently having an issue with plants that look like they have been spending time at the Sawmill fire pit because their leaves are covered in black soot. The large Crepe Myrtles in the front yard are affected as well as the various plants growing underneath. These plants were healthy and green in the spring when we left but were noticeably unhealthy and black upon our return. This is the second year we have returned to unhappy plants. I walked the campground and noticed the same black leaves on multiple Crepe Myrtles and shrubs. My research has identified the condition as Sooty Mold. Sooty mold is a type of plant mold that grows in the honeydew or secretions of many common plant pests such as scale, aphids or white flies. These pests suck sap out of tender leaves for food and excrete a sticky, sweet substance called honeydew which falls and coats plants, patios and furniture underneath the affected tree. Sooty mold will not cause immediate harm to the affected plant but will slow down the plant’s ability to synthesize nutrients due to the coated leaves.
A LETTER FROM REGGIE TYNES Hi Residents, As the chairman of the ACC, I just wanted to post a few friendly reminders. First and foremost, we ask that everyone please refrain from feeding any feral cats or wild animals that happen to be on property. Secondly, please remember that leases of 180 days or less are allowed a pop-up tent with screening and can
Treating sooty mold is best done by treating the source of the problem. This would be the pests that excrete the honeydew the mold needs to grow. First determine which pest you have and eliminate them from your plants. Once the pest problem has been solved, the sooty mold growth can be washed off the leaves, stems and branches. Horticultural or Neem Oil is a good natural product that is effective for both the pest problem and the mold. Insecticidal soaps work well if you make sure to get the undersides of the leaves. Please follow all product application instructions with whatever treatment you choose. I am going to break my sprayer out and use a solution of dishwashing soap, isopropyl alcohol and water to hose down the plants in an attempt to loosen the mold and treat the infestation. I am going to let the leaves soak for a while and then wash off as much mold and pests as possible. Hope it works Happy gardening

Also, don’t forget that SRHA has certain standards and rules that we must abide by, so please make sure your lots and sites are being consistently maintained at all times and most upgrades require approval of the SRHA Architectural Control Committee. A LETTER FROM RIC REILY OUR BOARD MEMBER & TREASURER
There comes a time in every business when the question of sustainability is answered and the opportunity to drive the business to success presents. Sawmill has reached that moment. With great credit to the Boards of Directors, employees, management, members and volunteers who have dragged Sawmill, sometimes kicking and screaming, from the inception of the Cooperative to the present we as a community now own the very real prospect of leading a growing, market driven business and community to a future originally conceived by the Cooperative incorporators. Much remains to be done. Problems remain, obstacles loom, regulations requiring compliance continue. At the same moment the community continues to come more and more together, the Board of Directors
understands the opportunities and challenges ahead, the management team works together providing a valuable product and the cadre of hardworking and caring staff preform daily functions at increasingly high standards. We are Sawmill. Living the dream at Sawmill is becoming a true reality, one within our reach as we focus our common energies building a sustainable community and delivering a top quality product to a demanding market.
