Just For Kix has a long-lasting tradition of offering youth dance camps! With 40 years of experience, your child is guaranteed to have a great time while improving their technique. If your son or daughter has never danced before, this is a great opportunity to introduce them to the dance world!

Class Structure

We break our classes into levels so that everyone can be challenged in their own way. Dancers will learn a variety of routines and get the opportunity to try styles they may have yet to be exposed to! The best part about dance camp is that dancers get the opportunity to learn from new teachers that can bring a different perspective to their learning process like never before.

BRING A FRIEND

Camp is always more fun when you are with a BUDDY. As a fun summer tradition, many dancers invite cousins or friends to join them at camp. Have no fear, if you don’t come with a friend, we will make sure to find you a buddy when you arrive!

Adding to the fun of camp is competing in the solo and small group competition. It’s a great opportunity to become a stronger performer. Every dancer is encouraged to participate. If you decide not to participate, it is great fun to watch and cheer on the competitors.

PeRFORMING A SOLO WILL...

Help you to become a stronger dancer.

Why? Because YOU have to carry your performance and have to work hard to do it on your own. It is a great way to increase your confidence.

Getting out in front of others by yourself will force you to work at a higher level to ensure that you RISE to the occasion.

PeRFORMING IN A DUeT OR SMALL GROUP will...

• Challenge your teamwork skills forcing you to learn to work well with others as a team.

• Challenge your creative abilities. You and your friends will have to reach deep inside to create the ultimate routine.

• Challenge your abilities by working toward one united goal.

• Challenge you to work on your confidence and performance abilities.

Rules: Interested dancers must come to camp with their routine prepared to perform to music on the first day. Solo & Small Groups (2-8) dancers compete in the grade they will be going into in the next school year. (This is based on the oldest member of the small group.)

• TIME LIMITS – 1:45-2:30 minutes Note: Under/overtime will result in automatic point deduction of one point for every 5 seconds under/over the time limit.

• MUSIC – Music/Song choice must be appropriate. Please take time to be sure the lyrics and meaning of the music chosen is in good taste Just For Kix prides itself on our conservative music choices, and would like those competing in this event to choose music appropriately as well.

• Each entry will be required to record their own music on an individual CD or USB and brought to camp with them.

• All music should be recorded at proper speed. For EMERGENCY, you must have 1-2 duplicate recordings available at the competition.

• CHOREOGRAPHY – Choreography should fit the music and include appropriate steps and movements. Inappropriate or suggestive movement will receive deductions. -A Just For Kix class routine cannot be used for the competing routine.

• GENERAL PROPS are Allowed: No dangerous props may be used such as fire, swords, knives, or live animals.

• No form of liquids (including water) gels, aerosols, glitter, or confetti, etc, which may affect the dance • floor surface may be used during a routine. Props must not affect or incur damage to the performance floor.

• COSTUMES/UNIFORMS – Costuming can be chosen to match the song chosen to perform to. Dancers may use their Just For Kix uniform or provide their own.

• AWARDS: All dancers receive a ribbon of participation. The top division placements will receive a medal. Winners of each division will perform at the final camp show.

• Dancers may compete in both Solo & Small Group categories, however, this is a $20 entry free per person, per category.

It’s Showtime!

On the last day of camp, campers will perform for one another. Dancers will wear their CAMP T-SHIRT and any bottom including shorts or leggings.

Dancers make the difference.

If you see someone without a friend at camp, reach out and include them. Many lasting friendships are made at camp.

• We use great music and provide fun activities, cheers, crafts and more.

• Classes are shorter with a fast paced schedule to help younger dancers stay focused.

• Instructors include technique drills intermingled throughout the day.

4th-5th • We provide technique work to improve skills. Jazz, lyrical, kick, hip hop and pom styles may be offered.

• Styles vary from camp to camp. We introduce new skills, play games, do skits and offer breaks for the dancers!

• Activities vary by camp and may include: Improv, ballet, flexibility, technique and more.

6th-9th

• This camp curriculum is geared to dancers trying to take it to the next level.

• Dance Styles offered: Lyrical, kick, hip hop, jazz and pom (can vary from camp to camp).

• Ballet based warm up and exercises taught throughout the camp.

• We include flexibility training to increase your range of motion.

• We focus on jazz technique: hone in on turns and leaps.

• We also cover kick technique: take your kicks to a whole new height.

• At camp, dancers are introduced to new innovative choreography.

OUTBACK BOWL PERFORMANCE TOUR 12/28/21 - 1/3/22

The Outback Bowl is a one of a kind experience for our JFK Dancers and families. With over 30 years of running this tour, JFK has all the i’s dotted and t’s crossed. It is a great way to experience an event that will be remembered for a lifetime. The week is jam packed.
