Villas & Gardens on the French Riviera Departs Wed 6 May

Day 5 Cagnes-sur-Mer, Grimaldi Castle Museum & Renoir Museum

FRANCE

The French Riviera is one of the world’s most famous coastlines. What began as a winter health resort for the British upper class at the end of the 18th century also became the inspiration for many well-known artists, attracted by the region’s mild climate, vivid colours and clear light. As well as its rich artistic legacy, we also discover wonderful gardens in stunning locations, beautiful villas, picturesque resorts and the famous Principality of Monaco.

Monaco Cagnes-sur-Mer Nice Cannes Antibes

Mediterranean Sea

YOUR ITINERARY Day 1

Day 2 Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is a chic early 20th-century villa built by Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild on the St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula. This morning we enjoy a guided tour of the villa, evocative of an Italian palazzo and home to nine separately themed gardens overlooking the Mediterranean.

Exotic Garden of Monaco

The rest of the day is left free to explore Nice, an opportunity perhaps to wander along the Promenade des Anglais or visit Castle Hill, where the ruins of the former Château de Nice and other landmarks of historical importance can be found. The hill is also a beautiful park which offers magnificent views over the Baie des Anges, Old Nice and the port.

Day 3 Prince’s Palace of Monaco & Exotic Garden of Monaco

8

We spend the day in the picturesque seaside resort of Cagnes-sur-Mer, perfectly nestled between Nice and Cannes. The resort offers a long pebble beach and a charming fishing port, all overlooked by the medieval quarter of Haut-de-Cagnes with its narrow lanes full of artists’ studios and galleries and stunning views of the Mediterranean. Perched on a hilltop in the heart of Haut-de-Cagnes is the Grimaldi Castle Museum, a 14th-century stronghold that was subsequently transformed into a palatial home. One of its most striking features is the painted ceiling in the great hall which depicts the Fall of Phaëton. Today, it features several collections of contemporary and modern art.

We fly to Nice and transfer to our hotel in the heart of the city. Later, we enjoy dinner together in a local restaurant.

Nice

2 dinners at restaurants in Nice yy Excursions to Villa Ephrussi yy

We make our way to the tiny principality of Monaco, ruled by the Grimaldis since 1346. Its wealth came from the famous Casino, founded by Charles III in 1848. We visit the State Apartments of the Prince’s

Palace of Monaco, the official residence of the Sovereign Prince of Monaco. Built at the end of the 12th century as a Genoese fortress, the palace was captured by the Grimaldi dynasty in 1297 and has remained in the family ever since. Afterwards we head to the Exotic Garden of Monaco, an outstanding open-air botanical garden that opened to the public in 1933. With its stunning location along the edge of a cliff overlooking the bay of Monaco, it contains more than 1,000 species of cacti and succulents that have adapted to dry climates in various ways.

Book now on 03332 341 873 or online at justgoholidays.com

Over the years, many famous artists have made Cagnes-sur-Mer their home and our last visit of the day is to the exquisite Renoir Museum, the family home and studio of Impressionist painter Auguste Renoir. It is a wonderfully evocative museum with many personal photographs and paintings, with the beautiful olive and citrus groves in the garden as much an attraction as the museum itself.

Day 6 Cannes & Antibes We head first to Cannes, renowned for its Film Festival, where we spend a few hours at leisure. Enjoy the waterfront avenue, Promenade de la Croisette, lined with palm trees, picturesque beaches, restaurants, cafés and upmarket boutiques and visit Le Suquet, Cannes’ old quarter, with its medieval buildings, winding, cobbled streets and panoramic views of Cannes.

From here we continue to the picturesque resort of Antibes where we have free time to explore. The historic old town within the ancient ramparts has retained much of its original character with quaint cobbled streets lined with pretty houses, boutiques and cafés. Port Vauban, the largest marina in Europe, is home to huge superyachts while the magnificent Fort Carré stands watch on the far side. This evening, we enjoy a farewell dinner together in a local restaurant.

Day 7 We check out of our hotel and transfer to Nice airport for our flight home.

Villa La Petraia

Tuscany is a one of the most beautiful regions of Italy, boasting stunning countryside and coastline, impressive architecture in abundance as well as a fascinating history. On this tour we discover some of the most charming villas in the area with their meticulous gardens and detailed frescoes. Some of these villas are still occupied by the families that own them. We also visit some of the most iconic Tuscan cities such as Lucca and Florence.

Viareggio Montecatini Terme Lucca Florence Pisa

ITALY

YOUR ITINERARY Day 1 We fly to Pisa and transfer to the Hotel Manzoni in Montecatini Terme.

Day 2 Villa Reale, Villa Grabau & Colleverde Vineyard This morning takes us to Villa Reale di Marlia situated at the foot of the Pizzorne hills. Once home to Napoleon’s sister, the villa’s 16-hectare estate has a timeless elegance. We then continue on to Villa Grabau, a beautiful private house furnished with period pieces and paintings. The villa is surrounded by nine hectares of botanical park so make sure to explore the grounds where beautiful ancient lemon trees can be found.

In the afternoon we head to the Colleverde Vineyard where we discover the art of wine and olive oil making. Our tour here also includes a guided tasting of the ‘organic’ olive oil and some classic Tuscan varieties of vino.

Afterwards we have some free time in Viareggio, a seaside city known for sandy beaches. The long road running parallel to the beach is perfect for a stroll and also provides plenty of shopping opportunities and eateries too.

Day 3 Palazzo Mediceo di Seravezza & Viareggio

Day 4 Villa Torrigiani, Villa Mansi & Garzoni Gardens

Today begins with a guided tour at the Palazzo Mediceo di Seravezza. Built in the 16th century upon the request of Cosimo I of Medici, the palace now houses a public library and the Museum of Versilian Work and Popular Culture.

Villa Torrigiani is a beautiful building located in a romantic, Baroque garden and this is our first point of call today. Inside the villa you will find 17th-century frescoes and original 18th-century furniture. Our next stop is Villa Mansi. Highlights here include the frescoes of the central hall by Stefano Tofanelli, a neoclassical painter admired by Elisa Baciocchi, Princess of Lucca and sister of Napoleon Bonaparte, and the gardens which are ideal for a relaxing walk.

Day 5 Lucca, Palazzo Pfanner & Lucca Cathedral We spend the day in the city of Lucca, dripping with history and famous for its intact Renaissance walls enclosing a cobbled centre in classic Roman gridiron fashion. During our free time here we can soak up all the appeal that this Italian city has to offer. We visit Palazzo Pfanner, a beautiful 17th-century palace still owned by the Pfanner family. Explore the impressive grounds and admire the frescoed main reception room, once home to Felix Pfanner. Originally from Austria, Felix became the first beer manufacturer in Lucca, brewing it in the mansion’s cellars from 1846 until 1929. Afterwards, we visit Lucca Cathedral. Located in a secluded part of the old city centre, the cathedral was consecrated by Pope Alexander II in 1070. The exterior of the building was later added to give it the elaborate look that we can see today.

Garzoni Gardens

Today begins at Villa La Petraia, one of the most attractive Medici villas. Purchased by the Medici family in the 16th century, the villa’s courtyard is decorated with some fabulous frescoes. This afternoon takes us to Florence, one of Italy’s most charming cities. Venice

One of the most unique and stunning cities in the world, Venice is a mustvisit destination. Built in the middle of a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea, this romantic city offers so much to admire from picturesque squares and iconic buildings, to gondoliers on the Grand Canal.

ITALY

Due to the city’s popularity, accommodation in Venice can often come with a hefty price tag, with many visitors opting to stay on the mainland or on the outer islands instead. But this means missing the chance to experience the city ‘out of hours’ when the ferries and buses aren’t running! However on this great-value break you can enjoy a stay at the Hotel Carlton, located on the Grand Canal itself, just a 15-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge. You’ll truly be able to make the most of your time in Venice! Explore the sights, or simply wander through the maze of laneways pausing for an espresso or a bite to eat, ending the day with a drink at the hotel’s rooftop terrace bar. There really is nowhere quite like Venice and you’ll see the best of the city on this break!

Benidorm was still a sleepy fishing village in the 1950s. This break could be the perfect way to start off your New Year.

The major landmark of the thriving harbour town of Alicante is the medieval Castle of Santa Barbara, which stands on the top of Mount Benacantil, offering fabulous views of the city. Other attractions include the Esplanada de España, a palm-tree lined promenade paved with wavy marble floor tiles, and the Gravina Palace, located in the Old Town. The marina is a popular hotspot full of restaurants, cafés and a shopping centre and is the perfect place to admire the luxury yachts moored here.

We venture inland for a half-day excursion to the picturesque village of Guadalest, perched on top of a rock high in the mountains. With fabulous views across the valley, the village also has numerous museums and craft shops where you can stock up on souvenirs while its castle can only be accessed through a tunnel carved through the rock.

The charming city of Valencia is the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona. It has a picturesque Old Quarter with a labyrinth of cobbled streets, lined with medieval buildings and towers that were once part of the ancient wall that surrounded the old city. There are also city beaches with tree-lined promenades, scenic gardens and an attractive cathedral, all of which make Valencia one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations.

Please read these sections carefully as they apply to all bookings you make with us unless otherwise specified. All holidays are operated by Just Go! Holidays. We will contact you again with the flight timings and up to date pricing, your agreement at this point will mean the booking is confirmed and cancellation/ amendment charges will immediately apply. The contract and all matters arising out of it will be governed by English law and is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Deposits per person and the balance due dates (the period before the departure date on which your full balance normally becomes due) are: Holiday Type Europe holidays Europe holidays of 14 days or more

If you cannot make a payment by card at the time of booking, please speak to one of our Reservations Assistants to discuss other options. You can make payments against your balance anytime between making the booking and the balance due date. If the balance is not paid on time we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you and apply cancellation charges as set out above right. For bookings made after the balance due date the full amount is due at the time of booking. In the event an individual non-refundable flight cost exceeds the deposits stated above, then the customer deposit will increase in line with the flight price. We regret we cannot accept any liability if we are not notified of any inaccuracy in any document within 14 days of our sending it out.

HOLIDAY CANCELLATION BY YOU: If you want to cancel your booking after we have confirmed it with you either verbally, over the telephone or online, you can do so over the phone or in writing. You may cancel your holiday without paying a cancellation fee before the start of the holiday in the event of unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances in the place of destination or immediate vicinity which may significantly affect (a) the performance of the package or (b) carriage of passengers to the destination. Club Class Home Collection Service If you choose this service, the cost will be added to your booking. Once you have paid for the service on the holiday balance due date, no refunds can be made. If you cancel your holiday and therefore the service after the balance due date, 100% cancellation charges apply.

Frequently Asked Questions Why do I have to pay a single supplement?

Railway excursions

It is standard practice in the hotel trade to charge for single occupancy of a room as the cost of providing heating, lighting and cleaning etc, is the same regardless of the number of people occupying it.

Please note that journeys on certain railways may not always be steam hauled, even when pictured in this brochure as being so. Diesel locomotive trains are sometimes in use on certain journeys over which, regrettably, we have no control.

Who is responsible for my luggage during my journey?

What do I do if I have a special request?

As with all personal items, it is your responsibility to ensure your suitcase is checked-in at the airport. We cannot accept responsibility for misplaced or damaged luggage and, whilst we will assist you with the recovery of any lost suitcase, this will be upon receipt of the courier costs.

How much luggage can I take with me? The luggage allowance will vary between airlines and will be advised at the time of booking.

What do I do if I have special dietary needs? Passengers are requested to inform us of any food allergies/requests at the time of booking and we will attempt to accommodate them, however special arrangements cannot be guaranteed. Passengers who are coeliac or follow a gluten-free diet are advised to contact the hotel before arrival to check if the diet is catered for. Some customers take their own bread for breakfasts. Customers with severe food allergies or dietary requirements are advised to make appropriate arrangements with the hotel prior to commencing their tour and speak to the hotel staff on arrival.

HOLIDAY ALTERATION BY YOU: Should you wish to make changes to your flight booking, please advise us as soon as possible. Whilst we cannot guarantee changes can be made to your booking, we will endeavour to meet requests if possible. In all circumstances the airline will make an amendment fee plus potentially an increase to the relevant fare for the sector you are changing based on the current price on the day you make the change. Additionally, we will charge a fee of £25 per booking to contribute towards the administration costs of arranging the change. Other changes after the balance due date will incur cancellation charges. Event and concert tickets are always non-changeable and non-refundable.

What type of food can I expect in Europe?

Full terms and conditions will be provided with your booking confirmation. Also available on request, please call 0333 321 2772 or visit www.justgoholidays.com/about-us/terms.

Why do I need insurance?

Terms & Conditions Air package holiday prices are correct at the time of publication but are subject to fluctuation and availability. The final price will depend on your chosen airport, airline and flight time. Financial protection is in place via the ATOL scheme and terms & conditions apply. Please visit our website for more details. Errors and omissions excepted. Operated by Just Go! Holidays, ATOL No.10889. Prices are per person, based on two people sharing a double/twin room. One piece of checked-in hold luggage PER PERSON is included (hand luggage only any break of 4 days or less) however; the weight allowance does vary between airlines. Please ask for details. Airport to hotel/boat transfers may be in shared vehicles. You may also have to await passengers arriving on other flights; for your convenience we will do our utmost to keep the waiting time to a minimum.

On our European holidays meals are included as indicated on each tour page. These may be waiter service or buffet style and will be a set choice group menu often consisting of local traditional dishes. Don’t expect lots of vegetables in Spain or lots of potatoes in Italy. Do expect pasta most days in Italy and pork in Austria. In brief, we offer you the opportunity to embrace local food traditions served the local way and not necessarily the British way. Breakfast will be continental with occasional hot options added in certain hotels.

At Just Go! Holidays we are committed to ensuring you are taken care of every step of the way, from the day you book, through to the last day of your holiday. Occasionally passengers fall ill or have an accident whilst on holiday preventing them from travelling home with the coach or on the return flight or requiring medical care when abroad. This may impact you financially; it is a company policy that all our customers hold some form of travel insurance, not necessarily the insurance Just Go! Holidays can offer, when purchasing one of our EU tours.

When do I need to pay the balance of my holiday? The balance is due with us no later than 8 weeks prior to travel. For bookings made after the balance due date; full payment is due at the time of booking. You can also make interim payments anytime between paying the deposit and the balance due date.

If you have any special requests, we will do our best to help but we cannot guarantee that they will be fulfilled, they are just a request. If your request is imperative to the enjoyment of your holiday, please inform one of the members of our reservations staff at the time of booking however, we cannot accept a booking on the basis of a request being guaranteed. General confirmation that a special request has been noted or passed on to our supplier is not confirmation that your request will be met. All special requests are subject to availability unless and until they are specifically confirmed by us in writing.

Are the excursions guaranteed to run on the day specified in this brochure? Our brochures and itineraries are put together sometimes over a year in advance therefore, unfortunately, things may change before the tour takes place and some excursions may be swapped from one day to another.

Will there be tea/coffee makers in the hotel room? This facility is unfortunately very rarely available in European hotels.

Do I need a passport? All our Europe holidays are sold on the basis that you are a British Passport holder. It is your responsibility to ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of the tour return. In addition, any visa requirements are your responsibility.

What do I do if I’m not completely happy? It is imperative that if you are unhappy about any aspect of your holiday, you raise the matter IMMEDIATELY with the coach driver, tour manager or accommodation provider. If you fail to do this and deny us the opportunity to rectify the matter at the time, we shall not accept any responsibility retrospectively. If the matter cannot be resolved immediately, it is a condition that you write to us, quoting your booking reference, with the details of your complaint so that we may commence an investigation.

Important Notice All prices are correct at the time of this brochure going to print (August 2019). We reserve the right to change our prices from time to time. This could mean that when you book your chosen holiday, the actual price quoted in the brochure may have gone up or down. The correct price will always be confirmed to you at the time of booking. Some of the details within this brochure may have changed since going to print. When you book your holiday we will inform you of any change to any of the relevant details which have occurred prior to you making your booking.

Calls to 033 numbers are free within inclusive minutes packages otherwise standard rates apply.
