Hotel

Ratings Explained

So often hotels receive different ratings from different authorities. To avoid any surprises and give you added peace of mind, we have created JG hotel ratings based upon our knowledge of hotels and customer feedback so you know what to expect and are sure you're choosing the right hotel for you.

JG3+ JG2 Hotels with a JG2 rating are a mixture of larger hotels and privately owned properties. Décor and furnishings may be simple but are clean and well maintained. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, TV and may have tea/coffee-making facilities. Food may be buffet style in some of the larger hotels. Services may be limited but efficient.

JG2+ JG2+ rated hotels offer a slightly higher standard of hospitality, often with good home cooking plus enhanced décor, facilities and services, which is recognised and welcomed by our customers. Food may be buffet style in some of the larger hotels. They may also enjoy an enviable location and/or higher levels of satisfaction on online hotel rating sites and our own customer feedback surveys.

JG3 Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.

JG3+ hotels typically enjoy higher levels of satisfaction on both online hotel rating sites and our own customer satisfaction surveys and may enjoy superior locations close to resort attractions or surrounded by spectacular scenery.

JG4 Accommodation in our JG4 category is of an even higher standard, typically offering a wide range of facilities and services. Bedrooms are designed to make your stay the most comfortable possible and the staff provide a service that reflects the detail and quality. You can also expect higher standards of food and beverages.

Accessibility If you or your travelling companions have any mobility concerns, please inform us at the time of booking. It is a minimum requirement that you are able to climb the steps onto a coach unaided. Please read the tour itinerary carefully to make sure it is appropriate for your mobility level. We also hold accessibility information for each hotel featured on our holidays, and are able to advise if lifts and/or ground floor rooms are available. Please refer to page 81 for more information about travelling with us or go online at justgoholidays.com/accessibility. If you have any queries on hotel facilities in relation to mobility, please contact us immediately for detailed information.

Isle of Wight Steam Railway

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Isle of Wight ‘Royals & Rails’ 5 Days from £329

Osborne House

Apr - Oct

With elegant resort towns, spotless beaches, old-fashioned charm and miles of unspoilt coastline, the Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing few days away. A firm favourite of Queen Victoria in the 19th century, the island is one of the UK’s most popular destinations and it’s easy to see why. On this fantastic break we enjoy the island’s peace, tranquility and natural beauty as well as a nostalgic journey on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and a visit to fascinating Osborne House.

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS Osborne House & Cowes (full day) We have the chance to explore Queen Victoria’s one-time residence on the island, Osborne House. Built as a holiday home and rural retreat in the late 1840s, the Italianate palace reflects Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s tastes and boasts spectacular views across the Solent. It is no wonder that Victoria herself once said, ‘it’s impossible to imagine a prettier spot.’ Here we take an intimate glimpse of royal family life as we wander through the magnificent Royal Apartments as well as the walled gardens and grounds where we find the charming Swiss Cottage, used by the royal children to learn household management. We then head to Cowes, a vibrant and sophisticated resort home to the world-famous regatta that swells the local population each August. Enjoy a stroll along the seafront, browse the boutique shops, or admire many of the town’s ornate buildings which date from Queen Victoria’s time, in the style popularised by Prince Albert. Isle of Wight Steam Railway & Ryde (full day) We journey back to a bygone era as we board the award-winning Isle of Wight Steam Railway at Havenstreet. Sit back and relax in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages as we enjoy the rolling views of the glorious Isle of Wight countryside. We pass through quaint rural stations, quiet hamlets and ancient woodland on our journey to the seaside resort of Ryde.

Afterwards we spend some time at leisure in Ryde with its long stretch of golden sand, pretty esplanade, marina and beautiful gardens. Take a stroll along the famous 19th-century pier, the oldest in England, or admire the many boats moored in the town’s busy harbour.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION Island Highlights Tour – £14pp (full day) Our fantastic optional Island Highlights tour takes in this unique island’s many famous sights. After Ventnor, a pretty resort built on a series of terraces, we make for Alum Bay. Here we can admire the multi-coloured cliffs and famous chalky outcrop, The Needles. Next is the historic port town of Yarmouth which contains some of the oldest architecture on the island including a 16th-century castle. We continue on to Newport, regarded as the capital of the Isle of Wight, with a historic quayside and selection of specialty shops. We return to the hotel via the pretty inland village of Godshill where we can view from the coach its charming thatched-roofed cottages and delightful medieval church.

Hebridean Adventure by Air 8 Days from £1,449

Isle of Skye

May & Aug

Sublimely secluded and utterly unique, the beautiful coast of Scotland is scattered with hundreds of islands and inlets, shaped by the ever-pounding wild seas. It’s a magical place where rich heritage and wildlife combine with the rugged coastline, stunning mountains and unspoilt islands to create an enchanting place like no other. Our tour to the untouched Outer Hebrides is a never-to-be-forgotten experience and takes in this stunning Scottish scenery, including the enchanting isles of Lewis, Barra and more.

ITINERARY Day 1 – Flight to Glasgow We fly to Glasgow airport and take a short walk to the Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport where we stay overnight on a bed and breakfast basis. Day 2 – Isle of Skye & Isle of Benbecula A day of scenic beauty awaits. Leaving the hotel, we travel north to the pretty port of Mallaig and get a first glimpse of what Skye has to offer as we board a ferry for the short trip across to Armadale on the striking Sleat Peninsula. We make our way across the Isle of Skye, enjoying the stunning scenery and rugged landscapes to Uig, where we catch the ferry to Lochmaddy. We continue on to our hotel on the Isle of Benbecula, our base for the next two nights. Day 3 – Island hopping Today’s island hopping begins by taking the causeway across to South Uist, where the west coast boasts a beautifully unbroken sandy beach in contrast to the east, which is dominated by mountainous peaks. We then continue on to Eriskay, famous for its Eriskay Ponies and also for being the real ‘Whisky Galore’ island. It was just off Eriskay, between Great Todday and Little Todday that the SS Politician ran aground in 1941 with 50,000 cases of whisky aboard. The locals managed to save several hundred cases before the ship sank, providing them with a good supply of their ‘Water of Life’.

From here, enjoy the short ferry crossing to the Isle of Barra, considered by many to be the most beautiful little island in Britain. Its tranquil beaches, distinctive culture, where Gaelic is widely spoken, and an ancient history make any visit to Barra a memorable one. If time allows, we also venture across the causeway to stunning Vatersay, the most southerly inhabited island in the Outer Hebrides. Day 4 – Stornoway After a leisurely morning in Benbecula we collect a packed lunch and continue onwards to North Uist, via the Benbecula causeway. As a relatively flat island covered with peat bogs, low hills and lochans, North Uist is a birdwatchers’ paradise. We board the afternoon ferry for the one-hour crossing to Harris before travelling up the west coast past numerous unspoilt, white sandy beaches and some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Western Isles. The final leg of today’s journey is to lovely Lewis and our hotel in Stornoway, where we stay for two nights. Day 5 – Isle of Lewis The Isle of Lewis is the most northerly island in the Hebrides with a history that goes back thousands of years and where ancient standing stones can be found everywhere. We make the short journey over to the west coast and visit Callanish, home to an awesome collection of stone circles known as the Hebrides Stonehenge. Other sights on today’s excursion include the moorland interior where peat is still cut for fuel, traditional croft dwellings and Dun Carloway Broch, one of Scotland’s most well-preserved defensive structures dating back over 2,000 years. Day 6 – Stornoway to Ullapool Enjoy some time at leisure in Stornoway this morning, perhaps picking up some souvenirs, before we catch the ferry to Ullapool on the mainland and head to our overnight hotel.

South Uist

May & Jun

Join us for the adventure of a lifetime as we discover the rich history and diverse landscapes of the Orkney and Shetland Islands, famous for their mysterious monuments, ancient settlements, wind-swept sea cliffs and breathtaking coastal views. By coach and by cruise, our tour takes us to visit some of the most spectacular highlights on the north coast of Scotland before we board our ferry to explore the stunning scenery and dramatic coastlines of the Northern Isles.

ITINERARY Day 1 – Flight to Glasgow We fly to Glasgow airport and make our way to the Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport (within walking distance from the airport) where we stay overnight. Day 2 – Scenic drive to Thurso After breakfast we travel north, passing by Cairngorms National Park, a mountain paradise populated with rare plants and wildlife and the most extensive Caledonian forests in Scotland. We continue north, past Inverness and up the Eastern flank on the world-famous NC500 route. When we arrive in Thurso, at the very top of Scotland, we check in to the Castleton Hotel, our base for the next two nights. Day 3 – John O’Groats & Castle of Mey We start our day with a morning excursion to the most northerly point of mainland Britain. A popular tourist destination, John O’Groats has a population of approximately 300 people, and sees over 200,000+ visitors every year! There are spectacular views of Caithness’s north coast and the Orkney Islands, as well as the well-photographed tourist signpost and various craft and gift shops. Next, we journey along the coast to our second stop of the day, the magnificent Castle of Mey in Caithness. Built between 1566 and 1572 by the 4th Earl of Caithness, the castle has a rich history with many structural alterations and changes over the years. In 1952, the semi-derelict castle was purchased by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, restored and ultimately established the Castle of Mey Trust, who would manage the castle and keep the property running. Day 4 – Skara Brae, Skaill House & Ring of Brodgar This morning we embark on our two-night cruise and travel to the Orkney Islands. We journey from Scrabster to Stromness, enjoying a light lunch during the crossing. Our first excursion of the day takes us to the dramatic white beach of the Bay of Skaill to discover the stone-built Neolithic settlement, Skara Brae.

34

This incredible prehistoric village consists of ten stone structures and is one of the best-preserved settlements in Western Europe. Next, we visit Skail House, one of the most historic manor houses in Orkney. The 17th-century mansion was home to the 7th Laird of Breckness who famously unearthed the Neolithic village of Skara Brae in 1850. Inside the house, we discover Neolithic collections and an exhibition showing what life in the house was like in the 1950s. We finish our day at the Stones of Stenness or as they are otherwise known, the Ring of Brodgar. This massive Neolithic henge and stone circle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is truly an amazing sight to behold. After our sightseeing day is complete, we enjoy a lovely dinner in Kirkwall before our overnight sailing to Lerwick, Shetland’s main town and port. Day 5 – Shetland & Jarlshof We arrive in the Shetland Islands to enjoy breakfast on board before we meet our local guide for a full day of exploration and discovery. From seals and otters to seabirds and orcas, keep your eyes peeled for a chance to see these incredible creatures in their natural setting. We continue our day with a visit to Jarlshof to explore the ancient prehistoric history of the Shetland Islands. This fascinating site is home to the first settlement in Shetland around 2700BC. Join us on an exploration of the unspoilt region of Ireland’s Ancient East, from the Wicklow Mountains National Park with its sweeping peaks and moors draped in heather, to the sublime Powerscourt Gardens, ranked as No.3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic. We combine stunning scenery with visits to the historic cities of Wexford and Waterford, home of the world-famous Waterford Crystal. If you are looking for an enchanting and captivating break, then this is not to be missed.

COACH ITINERARY Day 1 We catch the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin where our tour manager joins us. We continue onwards to our hotel in Wicklow, our base for the next four nights. Day 2 – Wexford Today we make our way to the town of Wexford, which sits at the mouth of the picturesque River Slaney and is home to plenty of historic delights. The well-preserved West Gate Tower is the only remaining ancient gateway to the town and the beautiful ruined Selskar Abbey stands on the site where the first Anglo-Irish peace treaty was signed. Wander through the narrow streets, enjoy true Irish hospitality in the many bars and restaurants, or sit back and revel in the relaxed atmosphere of this delightful town. Day 3 – Wicklow Mountains National Park & Powerscourt Gardens We head into the Wicklow Mountains National Park which covers 20,000 hectares of stunning mountain scenery, with vast sweeps of heather-clad moorland, hills, bogland, deep glacial valleys and lakes. The mountains are also home to a variety of wildlife habitats.

Afterwards, we continue on to the beautiful Powerscourt Gardens, set against the backdrop of the breathtaking Sugarloaf Mountain and boasting a wonderful blend of striking terraces, fine statuary, ornamental lakes and a wide variety of trees. Designed from 1731 onwards and stretching over 47 acres, the estate includes formal walled gardens, distinctive Italian and Japanese gardens and the Pepperpot Tower, modelled on a pepper pot from Lord Powerscourt’s dining table! Day 4 – Waterford & Suir Valley Railway & House of Waterford Crystal We start the day with a scenic heritage train journey on the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway, taking in the panoramic views, as we travel along the picturesque banks of the River Suir and the beautiful Suir Valley. We continue on to the thriving maritime city of Waterford, where we visit the House of Waterford Crystal. Our guided tour takes us through the home of the world-famous Waterford Crystal’s manufacturing facility, where we learn how the stunning crystal is made, including demonstrations from the Master craftsmen using the traditional methods of mouth blowing, hand finishing, sculpting and engraving. Day 5 – Dublin (with optional guided tour £16pp) Checking out of our hotel, we travel to Dublin, where we spend an afternoon at leisure. There are plenty of historic sites and monuments to see from the oldest, Dublin Castle, to one of the newest, the Spire of Dublin. We also have the option to join a locally guided tour of the city before spending the night in our hotel in the Dublin area. Day 6 We check out of our hotel very early to catch the ferry back to Holyhead; therefore a voucher will be provided to enjoy breakfast on board. On arrival in Holyhead, we continue our journey home. Frequently Asked Questions Why do I have to pay a single supplement?

We sympathise with the frustration single supplements can cause and we acknowledge that it may be a barrier to booking for many. Unfortunately, many of our hotels charge by room, not by occupancy. However, we continuously work with our suppliers to keep our single supplements as low as possible.

Why do I have to pay a pickup point supplement?

We have listened to feedback from our customers who are looking for greater choice and opportunity to travel, with a much-reduced risk of their booking being subject to a pickup change closer to departure. For all 2024 departures after 1st April, you can now choose the pickup point closest to you and pay a supplement (if one is applicable) or you can travel under your own steam to a pickup point that does not have a supplement. This means that we can continue to offer a wide choice of departure points that Just Go Holidays, National Holidays and Omega Breaks are renowned for. Pickups In BOLD have no supplement, those with a small + have a £15 per person supplement and those with a small triangle have a £30 per person supplement.

Will my pickup point change?

Pickup points are subject to change. Although we endeavour to pick up customers at the pickup point selected, it can sometimes be necessary to cancel some pickup points for operational reasons. If this happens and the alternative pickup point is less than 10 miles from the chosen one, we will not offer any monetary compensation. If the pickup point is over 10 miles from the original one, we will offer a monetary contribution towards any additional transport you may need to arrange. Please be aware that the amount offered might not be equal to the full amount for the chosen way of transport to the new pickup location. Please see our full Terms and Conditions for more information.

What time will my pickup be?

As a rule, our UK holidays depart early morning (as early as 6am or earlier if travelling from the North of England) and arrive home late afternoon/early evening although some exceptions may apply. We will inform you of the exact pickup time from your town with your final confirmation. Your exact pickup time will be advised two weeks before you travel. Return times will be late evening. On our Sporting breaks, your pickup time might start as early as 4am depending on the event and pickup location.

Can I take my car?

Yes, on some UK tours, we operate a self-drive option. We will give you a discount of £25 per person where you self-drive to your destination/interchange point and a seat will still be reserved for you on the coach for excursions on Britain, Ireland and EU holidays of 5 days or more. On SuperValue tours or any holiday of 4 days or less, you may self-drive to your destination/interchange point but the discount will not apply.

Who is responsible for my luggage during my journey?

As with all personal items, it is your responsibility to ensure your suitcase is on board the coach. Please make sure you see the driver place your luggage into the coach and on the way home carefully check you collect the correct luggage from the driver at your drop-off point. We cannot accept responsibility for misplaced or damaged luggage and, whilst we will assist you with the recovery of any lost suitcase, this will be upon receipt of the courier costs.

How much luggage can I take with me?

For holidays by coach, your luggage must be restricted to one medium-sized suitcase weighing no more than 20 kilograms (44 pounds); we cannot carry any additional luggage items. Also, we cannot accept responsibility at any time for your personal hand luggage. For tours involving a flight, the amount of luggage will be driven by the airline and we will notify you of the maximum weight limit in your final paperwork.

I have mobility issues – can I bring a walking aid?

You must advise us if anyone in your party has mobility concerns – the minimum requirements are that you are able to climb the steps onto a coach unaided. Please read the tour itinerary carefully to make sure it is appropriate for your mobility level. Due to space limitations we can only accommodate a maximum of two walking aids on to each coach, either wheelchairs or walking frames so long as they are collapsible, or collapsible walking frames or one of each, the

maximum weight of any aid must not exceed 15kg. Therefore you must pre-book a space when you book your holiday and confirmation of this will be on our correspondence to you. Due to weight and space restrictions we can only accommodate one mobility scooter on a coach. If you wish to bring a mobility scooter you must reserve a space at the time of booking, and this will be available on a first come first served basis. Once the space is taken we will be unable to accommodate any additional mobility scooters. When you book we will ask for the scooter’s dimensions and confirm in writing whether it can be carried. Acceptance is not guaranteed as this may depend on the size and weight of the scooter and the coach. If you do not receive confirmation that a mobility scooter space has been reserved you will not be able to bring one and if you try to do so we will not allow you to travel. In such circumstances your holiday will be deemed as cancelled by you and full cancellation charges will apply. We regret we cannot carry any motorised wheelchairs. Please also be aware that some of our hotels may charge you for charging your scooter battery; some hotels may not be able to accommodate mobility scooters due to their structural design, so while we may have room on the coach, if the hotel cannot support it, then we may have to decline your request to bring it along.

Can my special diet be accommodated?

Passengers are requested to inform us of any food allergies/ requests at the time of booking and we will attempt to accommodate them, however, special arrangements cannot be guaranteed. Passengers who are coeliac or follow a gluten-free diet are advised to contact the hotel before arrival to check if the diet is catered for. Some customers take their own bread for breakfast. Customers with severe food allergies or dietary requirements are advised to make appropriate arrangements with the hotel before commencing their tour and speak to the hotel staff on arrival.

Why do I need insurance?

At Just Go! Holidays we are committed to ensuring you are taken care of every step of the way, from the day you book, through to the last day of your holiday. Occasionally passengers fall ill or have an accident whilst on holiday preventing them from travelling home with the coach or on the return flight or requiring medical care when on tour in the UK, Channel Islands or Ireland. This may impact you financially.

When do I need to pay the balance of my holiday?

The balance due dates (the period before the departure date on which your full balance normally becomes due) are: 8 weeks before departure for all UK mainland holidays, Events and Themed breaks by coach or 10 weeks before departure for all Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands holidays by coach. For UK, Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands holidays by air, the balance is due with us no later than 10 weeks before travel. For bookings made after the balance due date; full payment is due at the time of booking. You can also make interim payments anytime between paying the deposit and the balance due date. Some holidays, like our SuperValue and London Theatre breaks, require full payment at the time of booking. You can find more details about this in our Terms and Conditions.

Railway excursions

Please note that journeys on certain railways may not always be steam hauled, even when pictured in this brochure as being so. Diesel locomotive trains are sometimes in use on certain journeys over which, regrettably, we have no control.

What do I do if I have a special request?

All special needs and requests must be advised to us at the time of booking. These cannot be guaranteed but will be noted on your holiday confirmation document. If you need assistance, or may not fully be able to enjoy all aspects of your holiday you must tell us in advance so that we can maximise your enjoyment of the holiday. Before booking your holiday, you should be sure that you and your party are physically and mentally capable of completing the itinerary. We will not always be able to tell you before you leave if we cannot meet your special requests and we cannot accept your booking on the proviso that the request is honoured. If you will require a special diet please tell us at the time of booking, or as soon as you are medically advised, together with a copy of the diet.

Will there be a toilet on the coach?

All coaches that we contract have a toilet. Please note that due to their tank capacity we would suggest they are used sparingly. We also ensure there are adequate comfort stops scheduled within our journeys.

Will it always be the tour coach that collects me from my chosen pickup point? Not always, in certain circumstances we utilise smaller transfer vehicles (sometimes called Feeder vehicles) to operate pickups; these vehicles will transfer you to join the main tour coach. We do this to offer a wide range of pickup points and to keep overall journey times for the tour coach to a minimum. Please note: if you have booked front seats, these only apply once you join the main tour coach.

Are the excursions guaranteed to run on the day specified in this brochure? Our brochures and itineraries are put together sometimes over a year in advance therefore, unfortunately, things may change before the tour takes place and some excursions may be swapped from one day to another.

Do I need a passport?

All our Ireland and Channel Islands holidays are sold on the basis that you are a British Passport holder. It is your responsibility to ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of the tour return. You need to advise us if you are not travelling on a British passport for port security checks. In addition, any visa requirements are your responsibility.

What do I do if I’m not completely happy?

It is imperative that if you are unhappy about any aspect of your holiday, you raise the matter IMMEDIATELY with the coach driver, tour manager (if applicable) or accommodation provider. If you do not tell us at the earliest opportunity about a problem giving rise to your complaint, we cannot take steps to investigate and rectify it at the timeIf the matter cannot be resolved immediately, you must write to/email the Customer Contact Department via the on-line form on our website, quoting your booking reference and the details of your complaint so that we may commence an investigation.

What is an Explorer Coach?

This is a brand-new deluxe coach, thoughtfully designed to provide an enhanced coach journey experience. We will always use our every endeavour to ensure an ‘Explorer’ coach operates a tour it is scheduled for. However, as with all things mechanical breakdowns can occur. Our fleet of ‘Explorer’ coaches are totally unique built especially to our specification, so it won’t be possible to find a replacement coach to the same specification. Therefore, in the event an ‘Explorer’ coach is not able to operate the tour we will supply our usual executive coach and make a refund of the premium paid and this shall be the full and total extent of our liability. On some holidays to Europe, Ireland and in the UK we may operate a coach interchange system. In these cases, you will join your ‘Explorer’ coach at the interchange. Our onboard entertainment system delivers entertainment, quizzes and games etc via Wi-Fi to your own device. Therefore, please bring your own smart phone or tablet to access this service. Each seat on the coach has access to a USB port for charging.
