Tutankhamun is coming to Paris in 2019. Fascinating artefacts from the tomb of the ancient boy Pharaoh will go on show at La Grande Halle de la Villette. King Tut’s tomb was discovered in 1922, more than 3,000 years after his death – its golden treasures igniting the imaginations of people around the world. The exhibition represents the largest collection of artefacts and gold from Tutankhamun’s tomb ever to go on public display outside of Egypt, with many items leaving Egypt for the first and last time before going on permanent display at a new museum near the Giza Pyramids.

ITINERARY Day 1 Ferry to Calais and on to our hotel on the outskirts of Paris. Day 2 Paris with optional guided city tour (£20pp) We travel in to France’s capital where we spend the day at leisure in Paris with its many iconic landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Arc de Triomphe. Wander through the quaint streets of the Latin Quarter or along the banks of the Seine spanned with ornate bridges. There’s also the chance to join an optional guided city tour, taking in all the main sights. Later, there’s time to enjoy an early dinner before the coach picks us up to return to the hotel.

Day 3 Tutankhamun Exhibition Today we head to La Grande Halle de la Villette for the Tutankhamun Exhibition. Today visitors can explore the caves in which the Romans once mined marl, some 2,000 years ago. Day 4 We check out of our hotel and head back to Calais for our return ferry home.

COACH ITINERARY Day 1 Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France. Day 2 Travel onwards to our overnight hotel in northern Italy, with dinner included. Day 3 We continue on to our hotel in Montecatini Terme, stopping en-route in Pisa, famous for its leaning tower. Day 4 Florence We catch the train from Montecatini to Florence, undoubtedly one of Italy’s most charming cities, where we enjoy a guided walking tour. Just some of the city’s highlights include the Palazzo Vecchio, Giotti’s Bell Tower and the Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s lovely ‘Old Bridge’, which is still occupied by gold and silversmiths today. We spend a second night at our Montecatini Terme hotel. Day 5 Siena We leave Montecatini and travel via Siena, a beautifully-preserved hilltop city surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, best known for its Palio horse race which takes place each summer in the Piazza del Campo. We continue south to our hotel on the outskirts of Rome where we stay for two nights.

Day 6 Rome A day in Rome awaits us, where we start with a guided city tour. Highlights of Italy’s capital city include the iconic Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain and Vatican City, an independent state within Rome and seat of the Catholic Church. The rest of the day is free to explore the city at leisure and choose a restaurant for an early dinner before we return to our hotel. Day 7 Verona area We leave Rome and head to our hotel in the Verona area, our base for the next two nights. Day 8 Venice We explore the unique city of Venice with a guided walking tour. Just some of the wonderful attractions here include St Mark’s Square, the Bridge of Sighs and of course the gondolas that ply their trade up and down the canals. Day 9 Travel to our overnight hotel in France, with a light evening meal included. Day 10 Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.

Day 5 Day at leisure We enjoy a day of leisure in our resort, where it’s market day. Day 6 Monaco & Monte Carlo We head to the tiny principality of Monaco, home to a historic casino, famous residential area of Monte Carlo and many rich and famous residents. Monaco is less than a square mile in size but is brimful of glitz and glamour, with a bustling marina, beautiful royal palace and fantastic shops. Day 7 Optional excursion to Nice (£18pp) Join an optional excursion to the picturesque coastal city of Nice. Nestled in the north-west corner of Italy and surrounded by the Alps, Piedmont is a beautiful region of gentle slopes, glacial lakes, rice paddies and endless vineyards. One of the great wine growing regions of Italy, Piedmont is also notable for its cuisine and local produce and on this ‘foodie’ tour, we have the opportunity to taste many of its fabulous wines and delectable fare as we travel through the stunning landscapes.

ITINERARY Day 1 Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France. Day 2 Continue to our hotel in Viverone. Day 3 Monferrato & Asti with wine tasting We start the day with a scenic drive through the Monferrato region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important wine districts of Italy. Set against the backdrop of the Alps, this picturesque region of rolling hills and vine-clad slopes is dotted with ancient villages and castles. We continue on to Asti, where we enjoy a guided walking tour of the beautifully-preserved centre of this ancient town with its medieval towers and historic palaces followed by a visit and wine tasting in an Asti vineyard. The sparkling Asti wine is renowned and exported all around the world. Day 4 Turin Today we head to Turin where we have free time at leisure to explore. The capital of the Piedmont region is renowned for its beautiful architecture, grand squares and elegant boulevards as well as its confectionery, patisserie and chocolate shops. During our visit, we are treated to a ‘Merenda Reale’ in a historic café – a tradition that dates back to the 18th century which includes a rich hot chocolate, bagnati (hand-made biscuits) and other chocolate specialities. Day 5 Alba & Barolo with wine tasting Our first visit is to Alba, a beautifully-preserved town known as the ‘city of a hundred medieval towers’, where we have some free time. Surrounded by rolling hills and lush vineyards, the town is also known for its production of white truffles, chocolate and wine.

Next stop is the hilltop village of Barolo where we visit a traditional wine cellar for a tasting of some of the famous Barolo red wines and local products. Day 6 Lake Orta, Isola San Giulio & Ghemme with wine tasting Despite being Italy’s smaller and lesser known lake, Lake Orta is most probably the prettiest and certainly the most tranquil. From the medieval village of Orta, we embark on a scenic boat cruise to Isola San Giulio to visit the 10th-century abbey. En-route back to the hotel, we stop in Ghemme to visit a winery in Ghemme Castle. Here we enjoy a wine tasting along with local food products such as salami and Gorgonzola cheese.

Our final visit is to a local cheese factory near Biella. The area is famous for one of the oldest cheeses in Italy (Toma Piemontese DOP) and we enjoy a cheese tasting here. Bardolino Wine Festival Day 4 Bardolino Wine Festival This evening the coach will take you to the Bardolino Wine Festival, and return you back to the hotel afterwards*. The festival caters for all palates and celebrates the award-winning local Bardolino wine, a light, fruity red or rosé made from Corvina and Rondinella grapes and a favourite with light dishes and salads. Wine is served by the glass and is very moderately priced. A cultural programme runs alongside the wine-tasting and varies from year to year but includes a variety of musical and artistic entertainment.

We’ll stay at Hotel Astoria, situated only 50 yards from the Lake. The centre of Torri Del Benaco is only a 5-minute walk away and there is a bus stop with services to and from Riva del Garda and Verona just 350 yards away. Day 4 San Antonio, rack railway to Passo della Mendola & winery visit in Mezzocorona This morning we enjoy a guided visit of San Antonio before taking the rack railway to Passo della Mendola, a 1,363 metre-high mountain pass where we can soak up more beautiful views of the Dolomites. Later we have a guided visit and wine tasting at a winery in Mezzocorona – the perfect way to relax and indulge. Day 5 Caldes Castle & Assessorile Palace Today we catch the train from Mezzolombardo to Caldes, where we can take in the scenic views before we enjoy a guided tour of Caldes Castle. Work began on this castle in the 13th century and it is associated with many legends as well as a tragic love story. Next we visit Assessorile Palace in Cles where our guided tour will tell us more about the history of this Palazzo.

Later, we check in to our hotel on the outskirts of the city where we stay overnight on a bed and breakfast basis. Day 3 Santa Margherita & Portofino First we set off for Santa Margherita, an elegant resort with grand and ornate hotels, million-dollar yachts and a picture-perfect seaside promenade. From here we take a boat along the coast to Portofino, with verdant hills cascading down to a jostle of exuberantly-coloured palazzi crowded round a tiny harbour. Day 4 Pisa & Lucca Today we head to Pisa where we visit the famous walled Piazza dei Miracoli, which is dominated by the magnificent medieval cathedral and its 12th-century leaning campanile bell tower, one of the world’s most famous monuments. From here we travel on to Lucca, dripping with history and famous for its intact Renaissance walls enclosing a cobbled centre in classic Roman grid-iron fashion, with a piazza still in the shape of the original amphitheatre.

Portofino Day 5 Day at leisure Day 6 Cinque Terre The Cinque Terre is a quintet of the most photographed villages in the world where the houses are packed and stacked closely round small harbours, Portofinostyle, or else scrambled in disarray onto rocky coastal perches. Our excursion here begins with a drive to La Spezia before boarding the train to Vernazza, traffic free and perhaps the most unchanged of the villages. We continue by train to Monterosso, part old town and part new, and the only one of the five to have its own beach and seafront promenade. We then enjoy a boat ride to Porto Venere, a historic fishing port, before taking the coach back to our hotel.

We’ll stay at the charming Hotel Europa in Lido di Camaiore, only 70 metres from the Versilia beach and a ten-minute walk from the modern pier. The town’s elegant promenade boasts shops, bars and restaurants to discover. Hotel facilities include a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, free Wi-Fi, a restaurant and a pool-side bar. The hotel also offers the option to borrow bikes (free of charge) to explore the area on the town’s excellent bike track. There’s time to wander through the car-free streets with their shops and restaurants and drink in the breathtaking scenery (Zermatt is surrounded by the highest peaks of the Swiss Alps).

Day 4 Lake Como & Menaggio Lovely Lake Como is Italy’s third largest lake and mixes natural beauty with a spot of glamour, being popular with aristocrats and celebrities alike. We drive along its shores which are dotted with exquisite villas, pretty towns and resorts as we make our way to Menaggio, on the western shores of the lake. Here we have time to stroll around the town’s picturesque streets and atmospheric Piazza Garibaldi which leads down to the bustling harbour and elegant lakeside promenade. Day 8 Lake Orta Surrounded by lush green woodlands, Lake Orta lies to the west of Lake Maggiore. Despite it being Italy’s smaller and lesser known lake, it is most probably the prettiest and certainly the most tranquil. We spend half a day driving along its picturesque shores, stopping awhile in the captivating medieval village of Orta, the focal point of the lake.

In villages throughout Alpine Europe, a very special tradition takes place at the end of summer each year. This is the Almabtrieb, the bringing down of cattle from high in the mountains to their village quarters after a summer of grazing in flower-filled alpine meadows. The animals are decked out in magnificent headdresses decorated with garlands of greenery, meadow flowers and ribbons, plus heavy leather collars complete with a clanging cow bell to ward off evil demons on the way. The procession makes its way down the mountain and through the streets before the animals are sorted and reunited with their owners, then their safe return home is celebrated in lively village festivals enjoyed by locals and tourists alike, with music, dancing and perhaps the odd stein of beer or two!

ITINERARY Day 1 We fly to Munich and transfer to our hotel in the Austrian Tyrol. Day 2 Rattenberg & the Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum There’s two treats in store today. The first is a visit to Rattenberg, the smallest town in Austria, with a long history of glass-blowing plus a picturesque, well-preserved medieval centre and rows of brightly painted townhouses. We also visit the Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum, just outside Rattenberg, where original examples of rural farmhouses and annexed buildings have been brought together in the largest open-air museum in Tyrol, giving visitors a flavour of Alpine farming life. Day 3 Tyrolean Alm Festival Let your hair down with the locals today at a nearby Village Festival, and join in with the festivities of the Almabtrieb as the whole community gives thanks

for the safe return of their animals from the high mountain pastures. Day 4 Kitzbühel Alps & Cheese Dairy We embark on a scenic tour of the Kitzbühel Alps, and our day out includes a horse-drawn carriage ride and a visit to a cheese dairy. Day 5 Salzburg & Tyrolean Schnapps Museum We set off for Salzburg where we’ll have a guided walking tour of the city, with its impressive and fully-preserved fortress, interesting historic buildings, The Sound of Music associations and, of course, the spirit of Mozart, whose name lives on in Mozart Square and his birthplace at No. 9 Getreidegasse in the old town. En-route back to our hotel, we stop at a Tyrolean Schnapps Museum where we learn more about this popular fruity liqueur and enjoy a tasting session. Day 3 Heiligenkreuz Abbey, Baden & Gumpoldskirchen We take a tour of Vienna Woods today, calling first at Heiligenkreuz Abbey. This beautiful medieval monastery was founded in 1133 and is the oldest continuously active Cistercian monastery in the world. Our next stop is the Imperial spa town of Baden. Once the primary summer resort of Vienna’s well-to-do, the town’s main attraction is still its thermal springs but it is also a principal wine town and home to Austria’s largest rose garden. Finally, we head to the village of Gumpoldskirchen, famous for its wine and Heuriger (wine taverns). We’ll enjoy a tour of one of the local wine cellars followed by a tasting of some of the delicious local wines. We round off the day with dinner in a Heuriger where we’ll be entertained with traditional, live music. Day 4 Vienna & André Rieu concert Vienna’s historic city centre is full of grand buildings and monuments, beautiful parks and magnificent palaces. Our guided city tour allows us to see the capital’s most important sights including the Opera House, the Hofburg Palace and the wonderful Schönbrunn Palace. We return to our hotel for a late lunch.

This evening will surely be the highlight of our break when we head to the Stadthalle in Vienna for the spectacular André Rieu concert. The concert includes a beguiling mix of classical music, operetta, musicals and, of course, the celebrated waltzes André Rieu is renowned for. This will be a memorable evening full of fun as we sit back and relax (or maybe dance in the aisles) to the music of André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra. Day 5 Rust wine village, horse-drawn carriage ride & Lake Neusiedl cruise We spend the day in the charming village of Rust, located on the western shore of Lake Neusiedl. Surrounded by vineyards, Rust is famous for its production of a sweet dessert wine known as “Ruster Ausbruch”. We enjoy a tour and wine tasting in a local cellar, followed by a Pannonian lunch and a horse-drawn carriage ride through the vineyards. Day 2 Rattenberg & Ziller Valley Steam Railway Our first port of call is Rattenberg, the smallest town in Austria, with a long history of glass-blowing plus a picturesque well-preserved medieval centre and rows of brightly-painted townhouses. We’ll also enjoy a visit to the Kisslinger glass blowing factory here. In the afternoon we make the short trip to Jenbach for the narrow-gauge train journey to Mayrhofen*. Day 3 Innsbruck Today we depart for Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian Tyrol. Here we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the city and there is plenty to see including the Old Town and the Golden Roof, built for Emperor Maximilian I as a royal box from which to view tournaments in the square below. Also included today is entrance to the Hofburg, Innsbruck ski jump, return funicular to Hungerburg and cable car from there to Seegrube. Day 4 Achensee Boat Cruise & Railway The coach will head to Achensee today, Tyrol’s largest lake. This is followed by an included lunch in the village of Pertisau. We then take a nostalgic train ride on the original rack railway between Seespitz and Jenbach. Day 5 Pinzgau Railway & Kitzbühel Today we travel to Mittersill where we board the famous Pinzgau narrow-gauge railway for the 29-kilometre journey to Zell am See. After free time for lunch here, the coach takes us to Kitzbühel, where there’ll be time at leisure to explore this famous ski resort before returning to Fügen for the evening.

Day 6 Salzburg We begin our day with a guided walking tour of Salzburg, with its impressive and fully-preserved fortress and interesting historic buildings. Afterwards we’ll have some free time to explore the beautiful city. Day 7 Schafberg Cog Train & Wolfgangsee Boat Cruise Today we depart for Wolfgangsee, a lake around 30km east of Salzburg. First we’ll ride the steepest rack railway in Austria, from St Wolfgang to the summit of Mount Schafberg. This historic railway has been transporting passengers since 1893 and on a clear day there are 360˚ vistas over glittering lakes and majestic mountains. You’ll be hard-pushed to find more magnificent views anywhere! We’ll then enjoy a relaxing boat cruise between St Gilgen and St Wolfgang. ITINERARY Day 1 We fly to Munich and transfer to our hotel in the Austrian Tyrol. Day 2 Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum, Rattenberg & Kisslinger glass blowing factory First today we visit the Tyrolean Farmhouse Museum, just outside Rattenberg, where original examples of rural farmhouses and annexed buildings have been brought together in the largest open-air museum in Tyrol, giving visitors a flavour of Alpine farming life. Then we continue to Rattenberg, the smallest town in Austria, with a picturesque, well-preserved medieval centre and rows of brightly painted townhouses. We’ll also enjoy a visit the Kisslinger glass blowing factory – Rattenberg has a long history of glass-blowing and this is our chance to learn more about it.

Dedicated to celebrating the iconic crystal, the Swarovski Crystal Worlds is a fascinating and dazzling place to visit and is our final point of call today. The crystal cutting company Swarovski was founded in the small Tyrolean town of Wattens in 1895. Enjoy the multi-sensory experience here and of course don’t forget to visit the largest Swarovski flagship store. Day 4 Mountain in Flames We spend the day at leisure then in the late afternoon, we leave our hotel and ascend the Hartkaiser Gondola Lift. We’ll then enjoy a barbecue and some live music before experiencing the Mountain in Flames. At the time of the summer solstice, fires are ignited on the peaks and mountainsides. The fires are lit to intensify the power of the sun and keep evil away from people and animals. Take in the spectacular sight of hundreds of mountain fires on these stunning peaks.

Day 6 Munich We visit Munich, the capital of Bavaria and one of Germany’s most attractive cities. Lying near the foot of the German Alps, the city is famous for its beautiful architecture including the Frauenkirche, its largest church with its two dome-topped Gothic towers, and the City Hall in the Marienplatz, a lively square in the heart of the city.

Day 3 Ulm We spend half a day in Ulm, situated on the River Danube. The city is known for its Gothic minster which has the world’s highest church steeple (529.95ft), and for being the birthplace of physicist, Albert Einstein. Highlights include the quaint fishermen’s quarter of half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets and picturesque footbridges and the beautiful town hall with its colourful painted walls and ornate astronomical clock dating back to 1520. Day 4 Germany’s Romantic Road We set off on a scenic tour of the Romantic Road, one of Germany’s oldest tourist routes. Day 3 Andernach Leaving Cologne, we make the leisurely journey to Andernach, a charming riverside town nestled on the banks of the Rhine. As one of Germany’s oldest towns, it still has remnants of the old town fortifications and is also home to the world’s highest cold water geyser.

Day 6 Rüdesheim We arrive in the picturesque town of Rüdesheim. There’ll be time to wander its lovely streets including the charming, cobbled Drosselgasse, packed with wine taverns, restaurants and halftimbered buildings.

Day 7 Optional excursion to Heidelberg (£18pp) & Koblenz Why not join an optional excursion to Heidelberg. Built on the banks of the River Neckar, the city is surrounded by lush green hills and boasts a castle and Baroque-style Old Town full of grand and beautifully-preserved buildings. We rejoin the ship at Koblenz. Alternatively, we cruise from Rüdesheim to Koblenz. Built at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers, the town is full of historic buildings, cosy lanes and romantic squares, all overlooked by the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Day 8 Königswinter We arrive in Königswinter this morning. Drachenfels mountain, which rises behind the town, is crowned by the ruins of a 12th-century castle reached by the Drachenfels Railway, the oldest in Germany with a cog wheel. This fantastic break gets under the skin of three of Europe’s finest capitals. While all of them offer a wealth of beauty, history and culture, each has its own distinct personality – all of which we’ll explore on our guided city tours. COACH ITINERARY Day 1 Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in Germany. Day 2 We continue on to our hotel in the Czech Republic’s capital of Prague, our base for two nights with dinner included. Day 3 Prague We explore Prague with a guided tour this morning. Prague is one of Europe’s most impressive capitals, thanks to its grand squares, imposing Charles Bridge, Old Town, charming Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square and Prague Castle, perched high above the city and reckoned to be the largest ancient castle in the world. After our tour, there’s time for a leisurely afternoon in the city. Day 4 We depart Prague and head to our hotel in Vienna, where we stay for the next three nights. Tonight we enjoy dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 Vienna We discover the historical city of Vienna with a guided tour. Straddling the banks of the Danube, Vienna is an undisputed centre of art and culture in Europe and is famous for its grand buildings and squares, museums, opera houses and theatres. Principal sights include the Hofburg Palace and the Museum Quarter. After our tour, we’ll have time to enjoy the city at our own pace. Tonight, dinner is taken at a Viennese Heuriger (wine tavern) with wine and live music included. Day 6 Day at leisure in Vienna followed by dinner at the hotel. Day 7 Budapest We leave Vienna and travel south east to Hungary and its capital Budapest. This beautiful and dynamic city is made up of two parts, Buda and Pest, perched opposite each other with the majestic River Danube flowing between. In the afternoon we enjoy a guided tour of the city, seeing all the famous landmarks including Castle Hill, St Stephen’s Basilica and the grandiose Parliament building. We stay overnight in Budapest with dinner included at the hotel. Day 8 We depart Budapest, travelling back to our hotel in Prague, with dinner included. Day 9 Travel to our overnight stay in Germany, stopping en-route in Nuremberg. A light evening meal is included tonight. Day 10 Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.

From our base in the lovely Spanish resort of Roses, we experience the breathtaking scenery of the Pyrenees aboard some of this fascinating region’s most famous trains. We meander through a mosaic of different landscapes and spectacular views, from leafy forests and gushing streams to vineyards and Cathar castles as well as discover the rugged beauty of the Cap de Creus Nature Park.

ITINERARY Day 1 Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France. Day 2 Continue to our hotel in the resort of Roses. Day 3 Roses Express Train to Cap de Creus Nature Park After a morning at leisure in Roses, we board the Roses Express Train. This road train is pulled by an ornate tractor-style engine and offers a wonderful means of experiencing the landscapes and panoramic views of the area such as the Bay of Roses, the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean and the rugged beauty of the Cap de Creus Nature Park. Day 4 Optional excursion to Girona & Besalú (£20pp) On our optional excursion, we head first to Girona, a charming city located between sea and mountains. There is plenty to see here, from the grandiose Gothic cathedral to the beautifully-preserved Jewish quarter. We continue on to Besalú, one of Catalonia’s bestpreserved medieval towns. Besalú’s most significant feature is its 12th-century Romanesque bridge over the River Fluvià while in the town centre are narrow arcaded streets and small squares.

Roses Day 5 Little Yellow Train from Villefranche to Mont Louis We head to the walled town of Villefranche de Conflent where we board the Little Yellow Train. Opened in 1909, this historic metre-gauge railway rises through dramatic mountainous scenery, hugging the sides of the deep valley between forests, chasms and gushing streams, passing villages and historic fortresses, up to the fortified town of Mont Louis. Day 6 Day at leisure in our resort Day 7 Red Train from Rivesaltes to Axat We travel to the village of Rivesaltes for our next scenic rail journey. The Red Train is a 100-year-old railway line that slowly climbs up the valleys through a mosaic of different landscapes full of vineyards, gorges and Cathar castles, through tunnels and over impressive viaducts, to the pretty little town of Axat. Here we have free time to explore at leisure.

Madeira lies 300 miles west of Africa and flush between the latitudes of Casablanca and Marrakesh. By rights it ought to be sun-baked and blistering, but instead the pattern of Atlantic trade winds and warm Gulf currents give it a balmy Mediterranean all-year-round climate with average temperatures rarely tipping above the mid-twenties centigrade in the height of summer or below the mid-teens centigrade in winter. ITINERARY Day 1 Make your way to the airport for the flight to Funchal, where on arrival we transfer to your chosen hotel for check in and free time before dinner. Passengers on later flights may be offered a cold platter if your arrival is after normal dinner service. Day 2 After breakfast, there will be a welcome meeting in which you will be introduced to the area and given the opportunity to book the optional excursions. The rest of the day is at leisure until dinner. Days 3-7 Days at leisure to explore the area as you choose. We explore the stunning natural beauty of the three premier Royal capital cities of Scandinavia. ITINERARY Day 1 We fly to Copenhagen and transfer to our hotel. Day 2 Copenhagen Denmark’s capital of Copenhagen is home to the world’s oldest monarchy. Around the city there are castles, palaces, monuments and statues, the most famous being the Little Mermaid. The city also boasts many parks and gardens, including the enchanting Tivoli Gardens and myriad shopping streets. A network of charming canals thread through the city and its lovely waterfront is lined with colourful buildings. We’ll see some of these sights on our guided city coach tour then we will have free time to look around at leisure. Day 3 Øresund Bridge & Oslo Today we transfer between Copenhagen and Oslo, enjoying the scenery along the way. We leave Copenhagen over the impressive Øresund Bridge, and arrive in Sweden where we head northwards before crossing the border into Norway and travel on to our hotel in Oslo, our base for the next two nights. Day 4 Oslo We enjoy a guided city tour of Oslo. Norway’s capital city is built on the shores of the Oslo Fjord surrounded by rolling green hills and forests. There are many parks and green spaces within the city itself including the Vigeland Sculpture Park. Other attractions include the Royal Palace, the medieval Akershus castle and fortress which dominates the harbour front, and the magnificent modern Opera House made of marble and glass. After the tour of the city we will have free time in the afternoon to look around for ourselves; perhaps pay a visit to Oslo’s Bygdøy peninsula, where you’ll find the Norwegian Maritime Museum and the Viking Ship Museum.

Day 5 Stockholm area We check out of our hotel and head towards Stockholm. After crossing the border, we travel across Sweden to the east coast where we check in to our hotel in the Stockholm area for the next two nights. Day 6 Stockholm Located on the Baltic Sea and spread out over 14 islands, over a third of Sweden’s capital city of Stockholm is made up of waterways, and a third more is green spaces. Day 7 Copenhagen We travel back through Sweden towards Copenhagen, again crossing the Øresund Bridge, for our final overnight hotel stay. It is standard practice in the hotel trade to charge for single occupancy of a room as the cost of providing heating, lighting and cleaning etc, is the same regardless of the number of people occupying it.

Passengers are requested to inform us of any food allergies/ requests at the time of booking and we will attempt to accommodate them, however special arrangements cannot be guaranteed. Passengers who are coeliac or follow a gluten-free diet are advised to contact the hotel before arrival to check if the diet is catered for. Some customers take their own bread for breakfasts.

If you have any special requests, we will do our best to help but we cannot guarantee that they will be fulfilled, they are just a request. If your request is imperative to the enjoyment of your holiday, please inform one of the members of our reservations staff at the time of booking however, we cannot accept a booking on the basis of a request being guaranteed. General confirmation that a special request has been noted or passed on to our supplier is not confirmation that your request will be met. Will my pickup point change?

All available pickup points are shown for each tour. Please note however, that pickup points are dependent on Just Go! Holidays receiving minimum bookings from those locations. On occasions it may be necessary to move your requested pickup point after booking to ensure that your holiday can still operate. You will be notified of any change to your pickup with your final confirmation.

How many travellers will be in our group? The maximum capacity we operate on any one coach is 53.

What time will my pickup be? Pickups will be early morning – we provide an estimated time in this brochure by pickup town, please see pages 56-57. The exact pickup time from your town will be advised two weeks before you travel. Return times will be late evening, as we expect to depart Stop 24 Services near Folkestone between 7pm-8pm.

Who is responsible for my luggage during my journey? As with all personal items, it is your responsibility to ensure your suitcase is on board the coach. Please make sure you see the driver place your luggage into the coach and on the way home carefully check you collect the correct luggage from the driver at your drop off point. We cannot accept responsibility for misplaced or damaged luggage and, whilst we will assist you with the recovery of any lost suitcase, this will be upon receipt of the courier costs.

How much luggage can I take with me? For holidays by coach, your luggage must be restricted to one medium-sized suitcase weighing no more than 18 kilograms (40 pounds); we cannot carry any additional luggage items. Also, we cannot accept responsibility at any time for your own personal hand luggage. For any holidays by air, the luggage allowance will vary between airlines and will be advised at the time of booking.

I have mobility issues – can I bring a walking aid? You must advise us if anyone in your party has mobility issues – the minimum requirements are that you are able to climb the steps onto a coach unaided. Due to space limitations we can only accommodate a maximum of two walking aids on to each coach, either wheelchairs or walking frames so long as they are collapsible, therefore you must pre-book a space when you book your holiday and confirmation of this will be on our correspondence to you. Unfortunately we have to reserve the right not to carry any walking aids that are not pre-booked. We regret we cannot accept mobility scooters or motorised wheelchairs.

Customers with severe food allergies or dietary requirements are advised to make appropriate arrangements with the hotel prior to commencing their tour and speak to the hotel staff on arrival.

What type of food can I expect in Europe? On our European holidays meals are included as indicated on each tour page. These may be waiter service or buffet style and will be a set choice group menu often consisting of local traditional dishes. Don’t expect lots of vegetables in Spain or lots of potatoes in Italy. Do expect pasta most days in Italy and pork in Austria. In brief, we offer you the opportunity to embrace local food traditions served the local way and not necessarily the British way. Breakfast will be continental with occasional hot options added in certain hotels.

Why do I need insurance? It is a condition of booking a holiday with us that you take out a travel insurance policy that includes sufficient medical cover for your needs as well as personal injury and repatriation cover to get you home should you not be fit to return as scheduled on our itinerary. Unfortunately, we cannot be liable for your repatriation costs in these circumstances. Should you decide not to purchase travel insurance that we offer, we will ask you to sign an indemnity document to confirm.

When do I need to pay the balance of my holiday? The balance due dates (the period before the departure date on which your full balance normally becomes due) are: 6 weeks before departure for all UK mainland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and Europe holidays by coach (excludes Winter Sun in Benidorm by coach which is due 8 weeks before departure). For UK and European holidays by air, the balance is due with us no later than 8 weeks prior to travel. Ocean cruising and holidays to the USA require payment to be made 100 days before departure. For bookings made after the balance due date; full payment is due at the time of booking. You can also make interim payments anytime between paying the deposit and the balance due date.

Railway excursions Please note that journeys on certain railways may not always be steam hauled, even when pictured in this brochure as being so. Diesel locomotive trains are sometimes in use on certain journeys over which, regrettably, we have no control.

Will there be a toilet on the coach? Yes, all the holidays featured in our main 2019 brochure will be operated by a modern executive standard coach including a wc onboard. Regular comfort breaks will also be taken.

Will it always be the tour coach that collects me from my chosen pickup point? Not always, sometimes we utilise smaller transfer vehicles to operate some pickups; these vehicles will transfer you to join the main tour coach. We do this in order to offer a wide range of pickup points and to keep overall journey times for the tour coach to a minimum. Please note: If you have booked front seats, these only apply once you join the main tour coach.

Are the excursions guaranteed to run on the day specified in this brochure? Our brochures and itineraries are put together sometimes over a year in advance therefore, unfortunately, things may change before the tour takes place and some excursions may be swapped from one day to another.

Will there be tea/coffee makers in the hotel room? This facility is unfortunately very rarely available in European hotels.

Do I need a passport? All our Europe, Ireland, Channel Islands and Cruise holidays are sold on the basis that you are a British Passport holder. It is your responsibility to ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of the tour return. On holidays by air within the UK you will also need a form of photo identification. You need to advise us if you are not travelling on a British passport for port security checks. In addition, any visa requirements are your responsibility.

ITINERARY Day 1 Home pickup & embarkation in Newcastle / Day 2 At Sea A uniformed chauffeur will collect you from home. On arrival at Newcastle Port, we board the Balmoral and begin our journey, taking time to relax and enjoy the ship’s leisure facilities. Day 3 Copenhagen, Denmark We arrive in the Danish capital of Copenhagen with its beautiful architecture and pristine waterways. Its narrow streets are lined with colourful cafés, bars and shops. The historic centre is home to the Royal Family’s Amalienborg Palace, Christiansborg Palace and Rosenborg Castle while the Little Mermaid sculpture is a must-visit attraction. Nyhavn – Copenhagen’s 17th-century waterfront – is home to many brightly coloured townhouses converted into bars and restaurants.

Day 8 Tallinn, Estonia Our destination today is Tallinn, Estonia’s capital on the Baltic Sea. This ancient Hanseatic city is justifiably proud of its beautiful churches, limestone houses and well-preserved cobbled streets. Toompea Hill, with its medieval houses and alleyways, is the oldest part, and at its foot remains of the city wall can be seen. Atop the medieval town hall, the weathercock, Gamle Toomas, is an enduring symbol of Tallinn. Other highlights include the ornate Alexander Nevskij Cathedral and Kadriorg’s Castle. Days 9 & 10 At Sea We cruise into Funchal today, the capital of Portugal’s Madeiran archipelago. Enhanced by a subtropical climate that fills this ‘floating garden’ with the year-round colours and perfumes of flowers and fruit, Funchal was a favourite of Sir Winston Churchill. His praise of the city has ensured British visitors always receive a warm welcome from locals.

Day 4 At Sea / Day 5 Helsinki, Finland After a day at sea, we moor up in Finland’s capital of Helsinki, built on a peninsula amid a cluster of islands. This striking seaside port is surrounded by uplifting natural landscapes. The port also boasts a UNESCO-listed sea fortress a short distance from the shore, which is worth the short ferry journey to explore. Finnish cuisine can be found across the city, from the historic kauppahalli (covered market) to creative bistros.

Day 11 Oslo, Norway Our final port of call is Oslo, the capital of Norway and one of Scandinavia’s most historic destinations. Surrounded by mountains and its own fjord, this compact city is easy to explore on foot. The Viking Ship Museum has ships recovered from royal burial mounds in the Oslofjord, while the medieval Akershus Castle and Vigelandsparken Sculpture Park are well worth visiting. Oslo has recently been awarded European Green Capital for 2019.

Days 6 & 7 St Petersburg, Russia We cruise into St Petersburg, the jewel in the Baltic crown. This elegant city was the imperial capital for two centuries, and Tsar Peter the Great’s ‘Window on the West’. St Petersburg is built on 40 islands at the mouth of the River Neva and boasts baroque palaces, wide elegant streets, ornate bridges and broad curving canals. The Winter Palace is the most magnificent of six buildings that make up the Hermitage Museum.

Day 12 At Sea / Day 13 Disembarkation in Newcastle After a day at leisure on the ship, we arrive back in Newcastle the following morning where we disembark and are met by our chauffeur for the journey home.

Day 6 At Sea / Day 7 Arrecife, Lanzarote, Spain After a day at sea, the bustling port of Arrecife is our port of call on Lanzarote’s east coast. Back in the 16th and 17th centuries the city was regularly attacked by pirates. To defend against these raiders, the court of Spain ordered two castles to be built – Castillo San Gabriel and Castillo San Jose. Today, it is home to the Museum of International and Contemporary Art, with a small but impressive collection.

Day 10 Funchal, Madeira, Portugal We cruise into Funchal today, the capital of Portugal’s Madeiran archipelago. Inland is the stunning Narsarsuaq Glacier which grows out of the ice sheet of Greenland’s interior. Day 11 Nanortalik & Cruising Tasermiut Fjord, Greenland We drop anchor in Nanortalik, Greenland’s most southerly town. In the morning we arrive in the picturesque village of Eidfjord. Set within the breathtaking Hardangerfjord, Eidfjord is located beneath a backdrop of soaring, snow-peaked mountains, engraved with rivers and waterfalls and is a gateway to some of the region’s most spectacular natural features. Day 4 Bergen, Norway Today’s port of call is Bergen, framed by seven hills and seven fjords. One of the city’s many attractions is the 900-year-old UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf. The Bryggen’s cobbled stairways are lined with traditional half-timbered buildings that climb away from the waterfront. Day 5 Flåm & Cruising Sognefjord, Norway We drop anchor in Flåm, a tiny village on the banks of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the spectacular Sognefjord – the longest and deepest fjord in Europe. Situated amongst scenes of picturesque orchards, hamlets and farmland, this is one of Norway’s most breathtaking locations. A must-do is the Flåmsbana Railway which climbs over 20km through magnificent mountain scenery, with incredible sights such as the striking Kjosfossen Waterfall.

Later we cruise along the magnificent Sognefjord, one of the world’s longest fjords and the largest in Norway. Day 6 Olden, Norway At its eastern end, the magnificent Nordfjord divides into three arms beneath the glaciers of the Jostedalsbreen, and Olden sits at the beginning of the southernmost of these arms. As the town’s stature grew, so did its buildings: the Municipal Buildings has an impressive 245 foot tower. The intriguing Underheugh Cottage is a working smallholding that offers visitors the chance to try activities like pig-keeping and dressing up like an ancient Scot. Further cultural experiences are available at the McLean Museum, which details Greenock’s shipbuilding past. Day 3 Tobermory, Isle of Mull We drop anchor in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Built as a fishing port in 1788 on a design by Thomas Telford, Tobermory is now the main village on the remote island of Mull. This little village, with brightly-coloured houses that run from the main street down to the pier, is one of the prettiest ports in Scotland.

The buildings date back from when the distillery first opened and today it produces a malt and a blend, known as Tobermory the Malt. Days 9 & 10 Alta, Norway As one of the best places on earth to witness the Northern Lights in winter, Alta is a truly magical destination and we enjoy two days here. Originally inhabited by the indigenous Sami people, the area has a fascinating cultural history. Rock carvings in nearby Hjemmeluft are believed to date from around 4,200 to 500 BC in fact.

Day 11 At Sea / Day 12 Kristiansund, Norway After a day at leisure on the ship, we moor up in Kristiansund. Reaching out into the waters of Norway’s Western Cape on four, bridge-connected islands, the clean, open, operatic city of Kristiansund, and its stunning harbour are impossible to ignore. Destroyed in the Second World War, nearly 80% of Kristiansund has been rebuilt since the 1940s and the city is now home to some of Norway’s most iconic modern architecture.

Days 13 & 14 At Sea / Day 15 Disembarkation in Southampton After a couple of days at leisure on the ship, we arrive back in Southampton where we disembark and are met by our chauffeur for the journey home.

Day 5 Trondheim, Norway Founded over a thousand years ago by Viking King Olav Trygvasson, Trondheim was Norway’s first capital city and this is our port of call today. Its colourful warehouses, charming waterways and wooded hills make Trondheim one of Norway’s most photogenic towns. Sat on the impressive Trondheim Fjord, the city is packed with interesting sights which are easy to navigate on foot, as most of the attractions are located on a small island accessible via a series of walkable bridges. Day 6 At Sea / Days 7 & 8 Tromsø, Norway After a day at leisure on the ship we cruise into the island city of Tromsø. Rich with neo-classical architecture, the city known as the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’, contains the largest number of wooden houses in northern Norway, and its old world charm makes it a real joy to explore. Tromsø is also famed as a viewing point for the Northern Lights that often light up the night sky.

Day 7 Basseterre, St Kitts Today we moor up in Basseterre. With some of the oldest colonial buildings in the Caribbean, the elegant St Kitts and Nevis capital of Basseterre is a beautiful town bursting with history. Established by the French in the 17th century, and claimed by the British following the Napoleonic War, much of Basseterre’s original Georgian architecture still stands and begs to be explored. The domed Old Treasury Building on the waterfront – now the National Museum – is worth a visit, as is the Victorian Berkeley Memorial Clock, a four-face, cast-iron tower that sits on the Circus, an original 19th-century traffic roundabout. St George’s, an Anglican church originally built by the French, has been destroyed by fire several times, and was rebuilt to its present form in 1869.

Barbados is just 21 miles long and 14 miles wide.

Day 8 St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda Today we visit St John’s, capital city of Antigua and Barbuda, often referred to as the crown jewels of the Caribbean. With its large selection of beaches, typically hot climate and an array of cool seaside bars, the city of St John’s is a sun worshipper’s paradise. In the city itself, the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda has exhibits on island history and St John’s Cathedral, a 19th-century Anglican Church, sits sweetly on a hill near the 17th-century Government House. The city’s vibrant red and yellow colonial buildings reflect the personality and warm welcome from locals, while a monument to the nation’s founder, V.C. Bird, is next to the colourful street market which sells flowers, fruit and handicrafts.

Day 19 La Coruña, Spain Following two days at sea, we have time in the city of La Coruña, the capital of the province and a busy seaport situated in the Galicia region of northwest Spain. La Coruña boasts an impressive seafront promenade, beautiful beaches and a host of attractions such as the Domus Museum, the Casa del Hombre and Torre De Hercules – said to be the only Roman lighthouse in existence – which offers sweeping coastal views from the top of its 60 metre high tower. The Paseo Marítimo, a lovely 13km walkway and bike path, runs from the port, around the peninsula, and along the ocean beaches. The compact Ciudad Vieja – La Coruña’s old quarter – is a must-visit area. Often referred to as “the city” by the locals, the medieval centre contains remains of the centuries-old Roman wall that once protected it. Beyond the historic city is a proud, modern metropolis, which boasts a superb food scene and a buzzing nightlife. Day 9 Philipsburg, St Maarten, Netherlands Antilles Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch half of St Maarten, a Caribbean island amicably shared between Holland and France for centuries and this is our port of call today. The town is known as a shopper’s paradise, while its charming sandy beach, studded with colourful clapboard restaurants and outdoor cafés, is accessible via water taxi. Front Street, Philipsburg’s long main street, is festooned with shops, but the alleys and courtyards down to Back Street are also worth exploring. There are some stylish restaurants, but the Lo-Lo huts, which sell grilled chicken, fish and cakes from home-made barbecues, are great for a cheap snack of authentic Caribbean food.

Days 10-15 At Sea Day 16 Ponta Delgada, Azores After a relaxing time crossing the Atlantic and making use of the ship’s facilities, we arrive in Ponta Delgada, the main town on the island of São Miguel and the capital of the Azores archipelago of Portugal. The town’s cosmopolitan atmosphere belies its 500 year history and the surrounding island boasts beautiful lakes, mountains, sandy beaches and the stunning crater lakes of the extinct Sete Cidades volcano. Ponta Delgada’s fine collection of buildings, narrow cobbled streets and squares are a firm reminder that this was once a key staging post between Europe and the Americas. Intermingled are cool parks, enchanting squares, a modern marina, restaurants and waterside cafés. Its lakeside, whitewashed houses with terracotta roofs look out to enchanting mountain plains.

Prior to our cruise, we’ll stay at the Turtle Beach Hotel in Barbados on an all inclusive basis with all meals, drinks and snacks including soft drinks and alcoholic beverages provided (excludes champagne and fine wine). Days 8 & 9 St Petersburg, Russia We arrive in St Petersburg, founded by Peter the Great in 1703 as his ‘Window on the West’. Day 10 Helsinki, Finland Finland’s vibrant capital of Helsinki is our port of call today. Its centrepiece is the majestic Senate Square lined with elegant neo-classical buildings and the impressive Lutheran Cathedral. A striking exception to Helsinki’s general architectural style is the Russian Orthodox Uspenski Cathedral, which dominates the city skyline. Built into solid rock Temppeliaukio Church is also somewhat unusual.

Nearby, the stunning Vøringfossen waterfall is one of Norway’s most popular natural attractions and features in optional excursions. Later, we cruise along the Hardangerfjord, the fourth longest fjord in the world, taking in the impressive vistas.

Day 5 Flåm & Cruising Sognefjord This morning we arrive in Flåm, a tiny village nestled at the head of Aurlandsfjord, the innermost arm of the mighty Sognefjord. Visitors are drawn to Flåm for a chance to ride on one of the world’s steepest and most spectacular railways. A masterpiece of engineering, Flåm Railway twists and turns through the steep-sided Flåm Valley amidst breathtaking mountain scenery. Afterwards, we cruise along the beautiful Sognefjord, the largest fjord in Norway. Day 6 Bergen Our final destination is Bergen, known as the ‘Gateway to the Fjords’. The city is beautifully sited against a backdrop of seven mountains and the funicular ride to the summit of Mount Fløien affords wonderful panoramic views of Bergen and Norway’s attractive coastline. Overlooking the harbour the colourful Bryggen wharf is the face of Bergen. The characteristic wooden gabled buildings were once the home and offices of Hanseatic merchants but today house shops selling crafts and traditional souvenirs. Day 7 At Sea / Day 8 Disembarkation in London Tilbury After a day at leisure on the ship, we arrive back in London Tilbury the following morning where we disembark and join the coach for our journey home. If you cannot make a payment by card at the time of booking, please speak to one of our Reservations Assistants to discuss other options. You can make payments against your balance anytime between making the booking and the balance due date. If the balance is not paid on time we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you and apply cancellation charges as set out below. For bookings made after the balance due date the full amount is due at the time of booking. We regret we cannot accept any liability if we are not notified of any inaccuracy in any document within 14 days of our sending it out. This contract and all matters arising out of it will be governed by English law and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. HOLIDAY CANCELLATION BY YOU: If you want to cancel your booking after we have confirmed it with you either verbally, over the telephone or online, you can do so by letter or email. If you cancel your booking, we will not refund any insurance premium or administration fees you may have paid and cancellation charges are based on the following scale to compensate us for not re-selling the holiday. Upon cancellation you must return to us any tickets or vouchers you have received. You may be able to make a claim under your travel insurance policy if your cancellation falls within the conditions of the policy. Claims must be made directly to the insurance company concerned. You may cancel your holiday without paying a cancellation fee before the start of the holiday in the event of unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances in the place of destination or immediate vicinity which may significantly affect (a) the performance of the package or (b) carriage of passengers to the destination. Club Class Home Collection Service If you choose this service, the cost will be added to your booking. Once you have paid for the service on the holiday balance due date, no refunds can be made. If you cancel your holiday and therefore the service after the balance due date, 100% cancellation charges apply. HOLIDAY ALTERATION BY YOU: We will endeavour to meet requests for minor changes made prior to the balance due date, a £25 fee per booking is charged to contribute towards administrative costs. Please note in the case of flight bookings airlines will also make additional fees and charges which will be passed on to you. At Just Go! Holidays we are committed to ensuring you are taken care of every step of the way, from the day you book, through to the last day of your holiday. Occasionally passengers fall ill or have an accident whilst on holiday preventing them from travelling home with the coach or on the return flight or requiring medical care when abroad. This may impact you financially, it is company policy that all our customers hold some form of travel insurance, not necessarily the insurance Just Go! Holidays can offer when purchasing one of our tours.

A holiday insurance scheme is available for all passengers travelling on our holidays arranged by Towergate Travel with ETI – International Travel Protection (ERV), the UK branch of Europäische Reiseverscherung AG, who are Licensed by the Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht (BAFIN – www.ba n.de) and approved by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA – www.fca.org. uk) to undertake insurance business in the UK. Has any medical condition which falls into any of the following categories which you have, or have had and for which you: a) have received, or are waiting to receive, treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations) or b) are taking or have been taking prescribed drugs or medication within the last 5 years: • Respiratory condition (any condition relating to the lungs or breathing) • Cardiovascular condition (any condition relating to the heart, arteries, veins or blood pressure) • Stroke • Crohn’s disease • Epilepsy • Any cancer or malignant condition • High cholesterol • Diabetes 2. Has or has had any other medical condition for which you have been prescribed drugs or medication or for which you have received, or are waiting to receive, treatment (including surgery, tests or investigations) within the last 2 years. MediScreen’s office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays. PLEASE NOTE You must also notify MediScreen immediately of any changes in medical circumstances arising between the date the policy is issued and the time of departure for the trip. You may have to pay an additional premium to cover your medical conditions. This applies to all destinations. SIGNIFICANT OR UNUSUAL LIMITATIONS OR WHAT IS NOT COVERED: 1. The cover under this policy is only available to United Kingdom residents for travel to and from the United Kingdom and repatriation will be to the United Kingdom only. 2. Cover is only available for the whole duration of a booked trip to a maximum 31 consecutive days, and cover cannot be purchased once a trip has already begun. 3. The excess amount deductible from a claim applies to each and every claim, per incident claimed for, under certain sections by each insured person. 4. If your money, valuables, any items of baggage, your passport or visa are lost or stolen, you must notify the local Police within 24 hours of discovery or as soon as possible thereafter. Please make sure you get a copy of the Police report. Failure to comply may result in your claim being rejected or the amount of any relevant claim reduced. 5. You are not covered for valuables, your passport or visa if left unattended at any time (including in a vehicle, in checked in luggage or while in the custody of a carrier, tour operator or public transport operator) unless deposited in a hotel safe, safety deposit box or left in your locked accommodation. 6. Stolen property: You are not covered for baggage stolen from: an unattended coach/bus unless it was locked in the luggage compartment of the coach/bus and evidence of force or violent entry to the vehicle is available, or the passenger compartment of any unattended vehicle. Examples of these and other conditions and exclusions are contained within the policy wording, a specimen copy of which is available upon request. If after purchasing a policy from us should you find it does not meet your requirements, you have 14 days from the date of receipt of the policy documents to cancel the policy and receive a full refund of your premium.
