We want to establish an identity for “Washoe Tahoe” and work to provide communications, community events, and advocacy for community connection initiatives. 2022 was a year for IVCBA to establish its core programs and grow its visibility in the community.

Message from the Executive Director

2022 was a great year for IVCBA. We worked hard to further our mission and vision of a thriving community. We want to establish IVCBA as the unifying community leader and resource for organizations and residents. We work and collaborate with our government and regional agencies. However, our community competes for resources with California next door and urban Washoe County down the hill. We want to establish an identity for “Washoe Tahoe” and work to provide communications, community events, and advocacy for community connection initiatives. 2022 was a year for IVCBA to establish its core programs and grow its visibility in the community. Please read through this annual report. We hope you will be impressed with what we have done in just two short years. Join with us as we make Incline Village and Crystal Bay a great play to live, work and play!

Local Heroes

Incline Village and Crystal Bay may feel like a small mountain town but when it comes to celebrating the 4th of July, we go big! The weekend started with the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District pancake breakfast, and concluded with new drone Sky Show.

Thank you to the Local Heroes Parade and Community Fair committees and volunteers for helping IVCBA produce an incredible day for our community.

Local Heroes: Community Fair

The Local Heroes Community Fair featured carnival games, information booths, and freebies from various nonprofits, businesses, and service clubs. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office vehicles were on display for the annual Meet and Greet with Sheriff Balaam. Incline High school sport teams and Interact Club ran carnival games supplied by IVGID.

Local Heroes: Community Parade

The hometown Community Parade, sponsored by IVCBA and the Rotary Club of Incline-Tahoe brings special attention to those that help build community where we LIVE.WORK.PLAY., including veterans, military personnel, firefighters, peace officers, health care, teachers, parents, and other community workers. We also had a kid’s bike parade to lead the main event.

IVGID Trail of Treats & Terror

We participated in Incline Village General Improvement District’s annual Trail of Treats and Terror. We distributed candy, Super Balls, and Halloween cheer to over 1,700 participants!

Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Annual Incline Community Picnic

One of IVCBA’s founding members, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, brought back their Annual Incline Community Picnic! Attendees enjoyed free hot dogs and hamburgers while visiting with members of the Sheriff’s Office and WCSO Special Teams.

Local merchants and businesses offered free snacks, drinks, activities, and deals to help the community get their holiday shopping done while having fun and feeling full!

Deck the Halls: Holiday Lighting Contest

The Deck the Halls Community-Wide Lighting Contest enhanced a sense of community through festive lighting and décor among merchants and residents during the winter holiday season.

For the second year, we were able to light key locations along Tahoe Blvd. Through the generous donations of seven lighting sponsors we raised over $2,300 to add more lights this year.

Northern Lights Festival

This month-long celebration includes over 25 family-friendly events for locals and visitors to enjoy, including the classics that come back every year: the Tahoe Film Fest, Tahoe Family Solutions Brunch with Santa, Sip & Shop Events, and TOCCATA’s Messiah.

Candy Cane Village

New this year was Candy Cane Village, our inaugural community tree and holiday lighting event hosted by the University of Nevada at Lake Tahoe. Attendees were transported into a Holiday Village featuring Santa & Mrs. Claus, holiday singalongs, official tree lighting, cocoa and cookies, community organization giveaways, choral performance by Incline Elementary School, and snow science activities at the UC Davis Tahoe Science Center.

Candy Cane Village is our community’s premiere family and lighting event and a festive part of all the events to enjoy during the holiday season on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.

Building Community Membership Programs through

The phenomenal growth in our membership is a mandate for an organization like IVCBA. Virtually all agencies and nonprofits, together with businesses and community supporters, are building our vision of a thriving community.

Shopping & Dining Guide

This year, we updated our local Shopping & Dining guide. Over 4,000 guides were distributed to local Incline Village merchants to pass out to patrons.

Mixer-Style New Member Orientations

We held five mixers throughout the year for new IVCBA members. These mixer-style orientations allowed members to learn about IVCBA and meet other new members. These were highly attended and we had over 60 new members join for an orientation.

Revitalizing the Biltmore

IVCBA collaborated with member, EKN Development Group, to promote community meetings for the Revitalizing the Biltmore. EKN Development group is welcoming the iconic Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts brand to Crystal Bay and Incline Village with the all-season Waldorf Astoria Lake Tahoe.

BizBuz Mixer

We held our very first BizBuz mixer for our members to network with each other and receive community updates. In September, the BizBuz mixer was held at new IVCBA member, Nevada Jane, and included an update from Todd Lowe on the “City of Incline” initiative. Over 50 members attended.

Artist Receptions

Three artist receptions were held at Mountain Workspace Art Gallery throughout the year. Artists Piper Johnson, Liz Paganelli, Lisa Jefferson, Frannie Ramirez, Barbara Triffletti, Bill Cooper, and JoAnn Lipert displayed their artwork to over 25 community members. The gallery is open to the public from 9am-5pm on weekdays.

Weekly SnapShot Newsletter

The SnapShot weekly newsletter provides the community with currated community news, local events, local news, job openings, and agency updates directly in their inbox. 50% of our subscribers are over the age of 50.

IVCBA runs two social media accounts to engage with our community in a more casual way. The graphs (above) illustrate that our reach is trending upwards, and our follower counts increased. The majority of our Facebook followers are between the age of 35-54, and the majority of our Instagram followers are between the age of 25-45.

Community Event Calendar

We worked with SDBX Studios, a Truckee-based company, to develop our new website, ivcba.org, and migrate content from our old website. Our new website is now a one-stop-shop for everything related to Incline Village and Crystal Bay: local resources, community news, community event calendar, job and volunteer board, and more!

Offering a community and business-based website packed full of resources with direct and real-time input possible directly from our membership base is really exciting. We hope you’ll visit often and provide us with the content you want to see and share.

New Membership Software

Switching to GrowthZone, our new Association Management Software, allows us to offer exciting new perks to members. Members can now add their events to our event calendar, post job and volunteer openings, and update their member directory profile at any time.

Quarterly Member Updates

Quarterly Member Updates were emailed to all IVCBA members to provide updates on IVCBA operations, membership involvement opportunities, and upcoming events. Twenty total member emails were sent throughout the year with opportunities, news, and events for IVCBA members.

Building Community Community Connection Initiatives through

Washoe Tahoe Community Collaborative Summit

IVCBA assembled the Washoe Tahoe Community Collaborative Summit in April. Officials from Washoe County Human Services Agency met with 40+ local nonprofits, educators, churches, and service clubs to examine complex issues facing our community. We organized a follow-up meeting focused on the housing issue in October.

It was really gratifying to see our local leadership come together. These big issues facing the community, there is no longer a ‘they’ at Washoe County. Now it is a collective ‘us’ that will try to address these greater issues.

Incline Main Street

IVCBA was accepted into Nevada Main Street at the “Exploring” level. This allows us to establish core committees to address revitalization and redevelopment in Incline Village. Washoe County Board of Commissioners provided funding of $25,000 to hire staff to run the Main Street program.

Washoe Tahoe Housing Partnership

An impactful group of key agencies and businesses organized a partnership to address the housing issues in Washoe Tahoe. Tahoe Prosperity Center is the lead agency, and IVCBA is a partner. Action plans were built based on the housing study last year.

Inclined to Meet

In 2022 we introduced a new Community Program, Inclined to Meet. Here, our community residents can learn about a specific community issue from a knowledgeable speaker or panel.

Inclined to Meet provides an orderly and professional platform for in-person meetings about community issues. We are gratified to see so many people participate in a positive way in a space where all viewpoints are valued.

Community Signs

We are working with Nevada Department of Transportation to update the community signs at each end of town. It includes twelve local church and service clubs. NDOT will be installing the new signs after the snow melts.

Roundabout Maintenance & Beautification

In 2022, we took responsibility for the Highway 431/28 roundabout maintenance, redevelopment, and beautification through public art bronze animal statues. Incline Property Management donated their time to clean up the roundabout.

Inclined to Meet: Town Hall Meeting on the “City of Incline” had over 150 attendees.

Inclined to Meet: IVGID Trustee Candidate Forum had over 150 attendees. This event was co-sponsored with the IVCB Community Forum.
