Bear Boxes

The Board of Directors adopted changes to the Bear Box Requirements for Tahoe Keys members during the August 17, 2022, Board Meeting.

The adopted changes to Section 15 of the Architectural Control Rules are as follows:

15.02a Bear Boxes may be considered under the following circumstances:

• An application with site plan must be submitted to ACC for consideration. • Bear Box may not be positioned within side, or rear setback areas. • Box must not be placed closer than 10 feet from the front curb or further than 1 foot from the driveway. The 10-foot curb measurement begins from the bear box pedestal. • Must be green or brown in color • May be placed where they can be screened from view from the street and neighboring properties. • Installations accommodating more than 3, 2 standard garbage cans will not be allowed.

Please note: Members interested in installing a bear box at their property should contact South Tahoe Refuse (STR) at 530-541-5105 for a list of approved bear box vendors that STR will service. Bear boxes must be pre-approved by the TKPOA Architectural Control Committee (ACC) prior to installation.
