CW MASTER PLAN DOLPHIN HABITAT

Introduction. This portfolio archives the work I have completed in the profession of architecture over the past 5 years. In 2007 I graduated from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield Michigan with a Bachelors of Science in Architecture. From 2007-2009 I was a senior project designer at Hobbs + Black Associates Architects working under Architect James Sharba. 2010-2013 I worked along side Architect Brian Emerich as an associate of Emerich Associates Architects. Independent projects are labeled in green.

MASTER PLANNING (CORAL WORLD, ST. THOMAS VI) 2013

Coral World renovation and master planning. The proposal includes fine dinning restaurant, themed cafeteria, seal lion exhibit, update to the observation pavilion, sea turtle exhibit, kid’s park, and updates to the remainder of the park. The Blue Water Terrace restaurant complements the existing aquarium buildings with a white dome structure. The sea lion rookery supports a bulk of the proposed sustainable initiative solar panels. The Dolphin Habitat addition can be seen in the background.

DOLPHIN HABITAT (CORAL WORLD, ST. THOMAS VI) 2013

The Dolphin Habitat exhibit at Coral World marine zoo. The 2 acre dock project houses 6-10 dolphins and is slated to bring millions in annual revenue to St. Thomas. To reduce the environmental impact wave baffels were incorporated in the major dock structure, shading was reduced with grate style dock panels, and increased the life-span of daily use equipment with the strategic use of hydraulic lifts.

Gateway Pavilion.

The Dolphin Habitat exhibit at Coral World marine zoo. The habitat has 3 stages of use staff, public, and admission. In the public realm visitors have access to the gateway pavilion for learning and the observation pavilion for viewing. Those who have paid admission will access the Learning Center and have a interaction with dolphins either in open water or at a DIP platform. Restricted to staff only is the east half of the dock, vehicular and marine access allow the staff perform the vital tasks that keep the dolphins health and happy.
