I remember reading in the book Good to Great by Jim Collins, and they talked about creating wild, hairy-ass goals. It’s funny, I’m leaving the Empower Network Get Money event and just got done with an amazing mastermind and the rest of the leadership on team Take Massive Action.
I left the last event and created a goal of creating three thousand videos over the next 90 days. Creating those wild goals and what that did for me and what that will do for you – you’ve got something that you can look out to the future, and the biggest thing is you create goals that you don’t necessarily know how to accomplish, or know how to fulfill on very quickly. It makes you think outside of your normal comfort zone and your normal voice. So as opposed to treading water and thinking about stuff, what you’re actually doing is moving in the right direction. What happens when you create those goals, as you start moving closer and closer towards these things – this is what I’ve experienced – they become a reality for you. Then you’re forced to create bigger goals and to create some bigger things for your self and for your future. Here’s the other thing that’s important: you can’t handle a wild goal by yourself. If it’s something you can do all by yourself, then it’s not necessarily big enough. Here’s the other key thing: you can’t handle a wild goal with your subconscious mind. It’s got to blow your mind to have that sort of goal and it’s got to be something that you can actually do because the problem with the conscious mind is it’s there to protect you.
It’s there to tell you that you can’t actually get stuff done, and it’s there to keep you safe. That’s the thing that is going to get in the way of you actually achieving your specific goal. I just wanted to share that with you right now. So, wherever you are at this point in time, take a look, and for those things that you want, create yourself a wild hairy-ass goal, and if you’re prepared to share with other people, that makes it that much more “empowerful,” but if you want to keep it to yourself, that’s fine as well. It’s completely up to you. Create those things that have you tap into your subconscious mind so you can move forward and get the things that you want in the future.
