2016 - The Gathering |

Viewing Tower

The central seating area found us once again working with the designers of the Swarovski Crystal Clouds (Andy Cao and Xavier Perrot). The DLE design team added another layer of drama to this ceiling installation by weaving in Dragonflies and suspended geometric designs. The furnishings were all kept to a color pallet of earthy tones that reflected the sandy beach and sea side like qualities. A very new feature for DLE was the idea to add an open air market. This informal destination space let guest casually experience the culinary treats while being immersed in the sights and smells of such a sensory experience. We collaborated with Australian food designers to create an over the top buffet area that was perfect in detail – down to the wardrobing of the servers. The views from the marketplace area were as captivating as the delicacies being served.

A greenhouse structure was custom-built to sit amidst an open Greenland with nearby stables to manifest the client’s affinity for country living, where transparent panels forming the greenhouse connect guests with the surrounding earthy ambiance. Contrarily, the greenhouse’s interior space was designed to welcome guests into an atmosphere of sophisticated charm. To create a more intimate feel within, sheer linen drapes were used to encase the central lounge area, where a branchielier ceiling installation seamlessly fused warmth with a distinct elegance. Furthermore, suspended chandeliers embraced each table in the dining area with somber tones, where tablescapes were styled with a daring selection of vibrant florals for a prominent contrast.

This new development is situated at a strategic location along the city center. The project is planned to include a retail /food and beverage on the ground and possible coffee outdoor hangout at the roof top to accomodated the services need of the hotel apartments. Given the plot size of 22.03m x 9.95m, it is likely that the building would be a using single attached in order to achieve the desired space planning and GFAs. Due to a small amount of space in the plot, it is most like to have a single commercial space on the ground or an option to utilize the roof deck as an additional commercial space.

2017 - KHJ VILLA COMPOUND| Dubai Project Type: Residential Status: Concept Major Involvement: Plan & Design | Visualization

This project consists of six villas, creating a block of three buildings sitting grouped back to back. Sitting as two large volumes on either side of the road, they consist of three large rectangular volumes interspersed by a lower metallic volume. The facades facing the road are treated as pieces of sculpture, forming feature walls that are devoid of any openings, meaning that views from the interior of the properties are controlled and intimate. The inward facing facade is carved by windows creating a play of light and shadows. The villas can be entered via a courtyard on either side. A copper fence wraps around the properties, providing a screen from the road which creates a sense of privacy.

This building has a striking double-skin faรงade. The first skin, a grid created from diamond-shaped GRP panels and diamond-shaped gaps between them, creates a solid-void rhythm inspired by diamond cutting. Behind the first skin, a glass faรงade allows a high quality of light to enter the building. Internally, the ground floor contains a double-height showroom while the 1st to 3rd floors contain offices. On the 4th floor, a double height space facing the main facade contains the Adamas lounge. A pair of voids punctures though all floors, bringing light down into the building while also permitting natural ventilation to circulate through the building.
