What are the features of polyurethane coatings? Polyurethane coatings are generally high-performance, impenetrable, semi or impermeable floor coatings which are used for domestic and industrial purposes. They are generally used as floor coatings in a large number of sectors including homes, hospitals, factories, garages, godowns, and also in industrial vehicles. The best part about this coating is that, it is tested for a long time in the laboratories, before finally it is launched into the market. There are certain tests with respects to the longevity of the polyurethane coatings: • They are tested for their abrasive strength. That is, to what extent they can take the pressure of any other surface on them. For instance, if some heavy thing is loaded and unloaded daily on a polyurethane floor, then for how much time, it will last, is a test for its longevity. • It is also a kind of floor coating which is generally immune to any sort of corrosion, but in case when strong chemical substances are used, which are prone to react with the polyurethane coating material, in that case the polyurethane coating can suffer corrosion. • It is to be decided beforehand, what is going to be the thickness of the coating, as that can vary according to household and industrial uses. The seamless lining and the grained or plain texture is also very important for floor coating purposes. There are several factors which affect the performance of a polyurethane coating: Polyurethane coatings can work properly only under certain circumstances, like when the floor design and surface is maintained properly, and
