But first here is an infographic sharing the power of video and how it can how businesses‌

How To Optimize Youtube Videos For SEO. Video Marketing Tips For More Traffic. So from the infographic above, need we discuss more about why you should be doing video? Of course not. But why should you be optimizing Youtube videos in the first place? Isn’t is enough just to Shoot a video, put a title and wait for sales? HAHAHAHAHA… Sorry. But no. The reason you want to not only soot videos around your niche promoting your brand is because if you don’t people will never find you. Youtube is like a giant pile of, well videos. And there are only 20 search results for anything ever typed. So that means that 20 videos are getting the rankings out of thousands of other videos related to it. You want to be on the front. Not in the pile. The trick to building up a steady flow of traffic from Youtube is to know exactly how to structure your videos in the way that Youtube wants you too so that they say “Hey, this person did what we wanted him to do so this video is valuable, let’s rank him!” Some people think… Is it hard to optimize a Youtube video? The answer is a Big FAT NO. It’s really simple once you follow the exact process I share with you here in this post.

Step 1 : Always Start With A Keyword That People Are Searching For. To be honest I have been writing a lot about this topic lately because it’s pretty important. And for traffic ;) But you want to make sure you are creating a video for a specific purpose. Not just making a random video and uploading it. That’s what I used to do. But not sense I learned the proper process I have been getting better results. If no one searches for your video, how can it be found? There are a huge number of keywords people type into Google or Youtube, but cmon… people aren’t searching for every way words can be put together. The reason anyone goes online and search for a particular subject is to have a problem solved or learn something. So be the right kind of video marketer and target a search term that people want to know more about.

Step 2 – Create Your Video.

You can use an iPhone or a camera to do this step. But my biggest recommendation is that you use Google Hangouts. Why? 1 They rank high & faster on Youtube than any other form of uploaded video. This is simply because you are recording a video on the great G masters own video making tool. Google likes Google so use the SEO benefits of hangouts. 2 My favorite reason to use hangouts is because I don’t have to leave the house, spend a ton of money on software. Plus it save a bunch of time because it automatically uploads to Youtube in a few minutes depending on how long it is. So you never have to convert file types, plug in the USB… None of that! You also what to make sure your videos are of value to your viewers. If someone searches for a video on how to make chocolate, show them how then give a call to action to visit your “101 Chocoholic Recipes” capture page or blog.

Step 3 – Fill In The Necessary Optimization Information. So after you end your hangout or upload a video, go to your channel and click the video, then click video manager under the video on the right side. If you do a hangout and don’t see the upload right away just wait a few minutes.

Title When you create a hangout you enter a title and description. So by the time you get to your Youtube account there will already be a title. You just want to make sure that you title you hangout your exact keyword phrase that you want to rank for. If you use any other device then you will have to do it from your channel editing like normal. In my opinion it’s important to title your video your exact keyword and nothing else before or after. The reason being is that you want to optimize for 1 search term. Only 1. If you make a cake video about “How to bake a perfect carrot cake” use no other variation and no other words. Don’t add “And frost it” to the end. Be specific and exact. Some people might argue that you can rank for multiple keywords or terms. Which can happen. But in my personal experience in order for that to happen, both terms would have to very very very low competition where no one really made a video about it yet. So yes it can happen, but I suggest you just make a whole new video to best optimize “How to make a carrot cake and frost it” to rank for only that one term. So feel free to do whatever you want and see what happens. If you are making videos and content about a small niche it could be beneficial to you.

Description Okay, first put your URL. Whatever you want to promote put it first. You NEVER want people to work hard by clicking the ‘Show More’ tap to see your website. Put it first. Next, add your keyword after that. Example: http://www.WEBSITE.com – “Keyword”. This makes sure that your ranking term is visible and Youtube even bolds any words you type that are at the beginning of the description.

Next Add a decent description. You want to either type some paragraphs or copy and past something. I love to just copy my blog post and paste it in the description because my videos are re purposed content from my blog. If you do this you can also upload a transcript because your video is already typed out… like what your reading now :D

Also It’s important to add links at the bottom of your description. What kind of links? Well, I add both Youtube links, my hangout link, my Google hangout event post link and any other content links like a PDF or the Pinterest link I get when I share my video. This will increase the number of backlinks you have to various pieces of content and social media posts helping your video rank higher.

Tags The last major on how to optimize Youtube videos for seo is adding tags. This tells Youtube what your videos is about and where to rank you. In fact you could rank for multiple terms just from related tags you enter if the competition is low. Where to find related tags? Search your keyword in Google, scroll to the bottom, and then copy the related searches. Sense these are related topics in the eyes of Google, why not add them? I also like to come up with a few tags I know for sure are searched and related.

Tags Bonus Tip Add your channel name to the tags. This will make it so that more of your videos show up in the related videos section on the side.

Advanced Settings The more info about your video the better. I am not sure if it makes a huge difference but… more can’t hurt. Go to the advanced settings tab and do the following: Add your location. Add your language. Add the recorded date. Under “Caption certification” chose the first option. It will say this option has never been aired on television. Change the category to the best category that fits your video. I also do education because I educate on marketing.

Thats all there is when it comes to how to optimize Youtube videos for SEO.

In order to get top rankings the only other thing you need to do is get quality backlinks to your videos. I cover exactly how to get backlinks for YouTube video in This Blog Post. How To Increase Youtube Video Click Through Ratio. The best way to get more clicks on your videos is to optimize it properly and then make a custom thumbnail. How do you make a custom thumbnail for free? What I do is go to Google and type in “Simple Backgrounds”. I try to find something that has a neat pattern or catches the eye. Then I use Google Drive slides and change the page format to 1280×720 which is the Youtube thumbnail size. Next I paste the image and and my exact keyword title over the image in a readable color. That will increase your Youtbe videos click through rates and if you do well, your video could get to rank one just from a high CTR. Yes, the search engines are also ranking based on CTR.
